Poynor became the most influential person (alongside freud) in my research. He was the only person who really stuck out to me who has tried to tie the link between surrealism and graphic design through: -articles poynor has written for the design observer and eyemagazine, specifically “Dark tools of desire” (expresses surrealisms unfulfilled desire in graphic design eyemagazine). -barbican exhibition “uncanny: surrealism and graphic design” at the moravian gallery in brno, czech republic. -mentions papillions Poynor has helped lead me into a direction which was out of my comfort zone as a designer, to look at the way Surrealism can accompany a more commercial style and develop a typeface which demonstrates this. After reading copious amounts of his articles I decided I would start to focus more on understanding the way a Surrealist works and their thoughts during creative processes before delving into my own practice.
