Upright Space
In “Upright Space” (Fig 13B) there is we might say a pause (space between the two squares) which is pure time between two time-spaces. Next, the shapes in drawings 14, 15 and 16. Geometrical figures (squares, circles, triangles etc.) are not perceptible as themselves. They become shapes when realized in drawings or figures made with string. The shape which we see is governed as much by the realization of it as by the geometrical figure. A circle or square when drawn is a shape different from a circle or square traced with string. The power, the effect of these shapes differs. To me, the difference between the “power” of the two similar shapes comes about because in the drawing the shape is expressed within the thickness of space, whereas traced with string it is expressed in actual space. The surface of the drawing is thus the originating context of the drawn circle, triangle or square.

has two circles as a figure 8. Then tie another light knot with the two ends, making another circle and, thus, a total of three linked circles. Next, tie the two ends tightly together, closing the third circle. Now pull tight in two places (pulling the sides of the second and third circles) tightening two knots. From this it can be seen that the knot is a twist of space. Try doing it yourself.
