depression, suicidality, and OCD, have meant that her life has impacted me more than any other. Seeing someone I love hurt so much for so long is extremely painful, but it taught me many important lessons about this world. It changed who I am. It brought a new level of empathy and understanding to the pain and suffering of this world. Before Ash’s struggles, in all of my young blind naivete, I felt as if I was alone in my suffering and the rest of the world could never understand. But seeing her suffer to such an extent that I could never have even imagined was incredibly grounding. I learned that suffering is an integral part of humanity, but I wasn’t about to just let that define reality. Ash and her lived experience made me realize that though learning may be my root passion, helping others and bettering the lives of those around me is what drives me.
with my BSN and begin my career as a registered nurse. In 10 years, I hope to settle into my career as a nurse. In 20 years, I hope to have helped many people, and learned more about medicine as I become more experienced in my career as a nurse.
What is the most important thing in your life?
The most important thing in my life is my faith in God because it has and will continue to get me through the good and bad times in life.
Who is the most important person in your life?
The most important person in my life is my dad because he never hesitates to help me if I ever need it and has always been one of my biggest supporters.
What do you hope to be doing in five years? In 10 years? In 20 years?
In five years, I hope to graduate from college with my bachelor’s degree and either be attending law school or applying for it. In 10 years, I hope to be done with all my schooling and have a job in some law firm that I enjoy working for. In 20 years, I hope to have a career that I am passionate about and be living my life to the fullest.

What is the most important thing in your life?
The most important things in my life are my family and friends. They have shaped me into the person I am today, and I am so grateful to have them in my life. Who is the most important person in your life? The most important person in my life is my mom. She is the kindest and most hardworking person I know, and I strive to be like her one day.

wise why are you even doing it? This
attitude toward schooling along with the many teachers, friends and family who support me has gotten me to where I am today being Mount Baker’s Valedictorian class of 2023. Who is your role model?
My parents have been a huge part of who I am today. My dad is my role model. I learn so much from him every single day. I would not be the person I am today without him. He supports me in everything that I
do and has taught me important life lessons like how to take care of myself in the real world. My dad joined the Navy when he was 21 to provide for my mom and my sister. He is the hardest worker that I know, and he always puts his own needs and wants aside to take care of the family. That kind of selflessness is something that I look up to and aspire to be like.
What is the most important person in your life? The most important person in my
life is my mom. She is the sunshine in my life. She is so full of love for others and I couldn’t imagine a world without her goofy jokes and wonderful hugs. She supports me no matter what and is always there for me throughout the good and the bad.
What is the most important thing in your life?
The most important thing in my life is friends and family. I truly believe that people are better together.
My friends and family have always
been there to support me. They are what make life fun and full of life, love, and happiness. These are the things I think the world needs most and the things that have kept me going and working as hard as I could throughout all aspects of my life and have contributed heavily to my success. I feel honored and proud to be a part of the hardworking group of valedictorians in the 2023 graduating year and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

important mentor to me because of it. Besides in-
spiring me to pursue counseling, his advice and help has given me a direction for the future me
I want to be. The lessons I’ve learned from him will stick with me long after my time with him passes, and for that I will always be grateful. What do you hope to be doing in five years? In 10 years? In 20 years?
I hope to be a licensed counselor within five to 10 years, but I know I have a long way to go. Optimal-
ly, I would like to have a private practice at some point so I can help and support people the way I have been helped. However, I understand that I’d need life experience for that first. All that means is I’ll have to live life. Private practicing is probably 15 years out, but it’s good to have long-term goals.
What is the most important thing in your life?
The most important thing in my life is hope. Hope is how I have
prevailed so far, and I doubt that will cease to be true. I once took hope for granted and have since seen it taken for granted by others in my life, which has strengthened my belief in its power. I’ve only improved as a person since my acknowledgment of that power, and I’m looking forward to the satisfaction I’ll have with my life as I achieve the goals I set because of it.
Who is the most important person in your life?
My mother is the most important person in my life. Not only has she supported me in every endeavor I’ve ever pursued, from ant farms, tarantulas, and now college, she also managed to keep our household afloat while doing it. Everyone knows those fine lines in families, and my mother walked them all for 18 years to see me to this point. There is truly no way I could ever thank her enough, and I’ll love her for as long as I live.
