I have hopes to complete school, have a successful career, and potentially start a family. Where that will be and what that will look like I am not yet sure, but I know the Lord is in control and my life will unfold according to His plan. What is the most important thing in your life? My Christian faith is the
most important thing in my life. It influences every part of my life from my actions to simply how I see the world. I am the person I am because God made me that way, and I have hope and life in Christ. Who is the most important person in your life? It feels impossible to pick just one singular most important person as I

Where will you attend college?
I plan to finish a transfer degree in mechanical engineering at Whatcom Community College. Once I finish the transfer degree, I will transfer to the University of Washington where I will complete my Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering.
As a child, what was the first thing you wanted to become when you grew up?
I couldn’t see myself being anything other than an astronaut. I loved the idea of exploring the unknown; however, as I got older, I realized it wasn’t for me.
Senior Spotlights
I learned that I like moving parts and understanding how things work. I thought for a while I would like to do automotive mechanics, but I wouldn’t get to design anything, and modern cars are ridiculously complicated. I had tossed around the idea of engineering for a long time, but it wasn’t until my first engineering class in eleventh grade that I knew I found my passion.
What are your career plans?
I would like to work in the automotive industry. I first taught myself how to work on cars in ninth grade when my first truck had a head gasket failure. It’s a really satisfying feeling

Where will you attend college?
Next year I will attend the University of Washington. As a child, what was the first thing you wanted to become when you grew up?
When I was a kid I wanted to be a singer or a veterinarian.
What are your career plans?
After college if I am blessed enough to do so I hope to continue my basketball career overseas and once I am done playing hopefully will be able to use connections I have made through basketball and pursue a career in some sort of business or marketing.
What is the greatest thing you gained from your K-12 experience?
In my K-12 years of schooling the greatest thing I have gained is the opportunity to develop and grow close and intimate relationships. What is the greatest thing you gained from attending your high school?
Over my high school experience the greatest thing I have gained is more of a leader position through basketball and being able to use it to inspire people in my community.
Who is your role model?
My role model is my mom. She has been a constant in my life and one of my biggest supporters. She challenges me every day and we have developed a beautiful relationship, especially over the past couple of years. She is also the most patient, kindhearted person I know and has an incredible work ethic. She continues to be ambitious and chases her dreams and goals. I hope one day to be half the woman she is today. What do you hope to be doing in five years? In 10 years? In 20 years?
In 10 years, I hope to settle down and have a family. I want to have found my niche in life outside of sports and love what I do. In

I will attend Montana State University for a degree in engineering.
As a child, what was the first thing you wanted to become when you grew up? When I was a kid, I remember wanting to be a firefighter when I grew up. I had a few toy fire trucks that I loved to play with while imagining myself saving people from fires. What are your career plans?
I’m plan to pursue a career somewhere in the engineering field. I’ve always loved to think of efficient and creative ways to solve problems so I think this field of study is perfect for me. I’m not entirely sure what it will be but right now I’m looking into becoming a mechanical engineer with an emphasis on computer science or robotics.
What is the greatest thing you gained from your K-12 experience? What is the greatest thing you gained from attending your high school?
In elementary and middle school, I was able to gain from caring and passionate teachers a love for learning and a desire to seek out and apply information that interests me. In high school, mostly through sports, I gained a solid and supportive friend group that has been with me throughout all four years. Who is your role model?
My role model is my dad. He is dedicated to our family and works hard to raise his children the best way he can. I believe I am very fortunate to have someone like him to aspire to be like. What do you hope to be doing in five years? In 10 years? In 20 years?
Five years from now, I hope to either be getting started on my career journey in engineering or be starting graduate school if I choose to do that. In 10 years, I can see myself being married and thinking about
to get an engine running at its peak again, especially when it’s your first rebuild. Since then, I have helped my friends and family with automotive maintenance. I also do most of my own maintenance and repairs on my vehicles whenever possible. I would really like to work for a company that specializes in performance modifications because I love making cars faster, more functional, and better looking. What is the greatest thing you gained from your K-12 experience? What is the greatest thing you gained from attending your high school?
The greatest thing about my K-12 experience is the friends I made along the way. I was homeschooled up until eighth grade, which is when I began attending Mt. Baker schools. Having been both homeschooled and in public school, I made numerous connections with a large variety of people. Having made friends with people from so many different walks of life has taught me a lot about life and has also made making new connections significantly easier.
The biggest thing I gained from attending high school was getting to join the Running Start program at WCC. I try to grow and improve myself every day, and I felt that attending regular high school was greatly limiting my abilities. At WCC, I was able to take more advanced classes and get a head start on my engineering degree, all while having more time to work and socialize.
Who is your role model?
My uncle Wade. Wade was an incredibly knowledgeable, wise, and caring man who had a piece of useful wisdom for
20 years, I want to be supportive of my kids and watch them in sports, school activities or whatever passions they have.
What is the most important thing in your life?
My faith is the most important thing in my life. In the short amount of life, I have experienced so far, I have discovered that life has many challenges and setbacks and if you do not have something keeping you grounded it is easy to lose yourself.
Who is the most important person in your life?
Family is the most important people in my life. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today. They have been so supportive of me in all the adventures and journeys my life has taken and I know they always have my back.
starting a family. In 20, I hope that I can be a great role model for my kids just like my parents have been for me. And all this time, continue holding close to my faith, friends, family, and hobbies. What is the most important thing in your life? My faith in God is the most important thing to me. It has given me a stable worldview and a firm set of morals that permeate through everything I do. It has given me a reason to not only live for myself and instead serve others. The church community has also been extremely important to me, with many of my most intimate and trusting relationships coming from it. Who is the most important person in your life? My mom has always been the most important person in my life. She is my biggest supporter and will do anything to make sure I succeed. She’s the person I can go to when I need help and the person that will boost me when I’m thriving. If it wasn’t for her, I would not be the same person that I am today.
every situation life may present you with. He was a professor of Political Science at BYU, and although he was very busy, he never failed to find time to help others. Wade worked tirelessly in school and graduated in 1982 from Mount Baker Senior High as co-valedictorian. Sadly, Wade passed in early 2020. What do you hope to be doing in five years? In 10 years? In 20 years? In five years, I hope that I’ll have completed my bachelor’s degree and started my first job as an engineer. In 10 years, I hope to be fully settled into a job that I love, while still finding time for travel and my hobbies. I would love to visit Germany and Japan specifically. I would also like to have a permanent residence somewhere in rural Whatcom County. In 20 years, it’s hard to envision what my life will look like, but hopefully, I’ll have found my dream job and started a family. Most importantly, I just want to be happy and live an exciting life. What is the most important thing in your life?
My family is the most important thing in my life. They have been the foundation for everything I have achieved. I am grateful for my father for being straightforward, for teaching me how to teach myself, and for pushing me towards being greater every day. I am also grateful for my mom for keeping me motivated and for showing me how impactful even the smallest kind acts can be. My brothers, Josh and Jacob, have been very supportive over the years, and my sister, Katie, was especially helpful during my college and scholarship applications. Who is the most important person in your life?
My mom is the most important person in my life. She has been by my side through every struggle, and she has done a wonderful job preparing me for life. She knows how to have fun, but she can be very professional if need be. I grew up with a debilitating anxiety disorder, and Mom worked unrelentingly to find the help I needed. I admire that she works hard every day at Bellingham Public Schools to make the world better for children, and I appreciate all she has taught me about kindness. Without her love and patience, I would not be who I am today.
