Makeup artist Phoebe Dawson (@phoebemakeup) serves up three stunning looks on recording artist Skylar Stecker for our Issue 6 feature, using all vegan &/or cruelty free products.
For her skin prep I applied Baja Basics Collagen Boosting Facial Serum, followed by Tarte Facetape Foundation, I usually apply foundation with a brush and then press it into the skin for a flawless finish with my damp Beauty Blender sponge, the Black colored one is my favorite! I used Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, my absolute fav, because it has skin care in it and blurring technology to blur wrinkles and fine lines, also it does not crease! I used Tarte Face Tape Setting Powder in Light. I used The Balm Cosmetics - Bahama Mama for her Bronzer and The Balm Cosmetics Instain Blush. For top of Skylar’s cheekbones, nose and inner eye corners I used the Charlotte Tilbury “Bar of Gold” highlighter.
Look 1 : Bronzy Nude
For the first look I started with a signature Skylar glam look with some beautiful lashes, bronzy glowing skin, a neutral nude lip and a soft matte brown eye.
Eyes: I used mostly the medium matte brown tones from The Balm Cosmetics- Meet Matte Shmaker, eyeshadow palette. (One of my fav palettes, super versatile + the packaging is so cute.)
Mascara: Maneater by Tarte Cosmetics. Lashes: Minx&Mane faux mink lashes in ZeroFux Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro palette Lips: Glossier Balm Dotcom, Charlotte Tilbury Liner in Iconic Nude with a little liquid lipstick tapped on top by The Balm Cosmetics in shade - Charismatic.
Look 2 : Cat Eye
For this final look I carefully removed the previous eye Makeup first to have a fresh base, since it was the Holiday season when we shot this we decided to go for a green smokey eye. Eyes: To create a sparkly holographic green eye I used a few different palettes layering different shimmers on top of each other using; The one green shadow in my - Meet Matte Shmaker palette called "Jamie Wong" as a base, then I added the green shimmer tones from the Natasha Denona- Gold Palette on top using my finger. (I find shimmers are sometimes easier to press onto the center of the eyelid with the pad of your finger for a more intense color. They can be hard to pick up the pigment with a brush because it's a different texture then matte shadows or they get everywhere so this method prevents a lot of fallout. For eyeliner I used the black shadow from my -Meet Matte Shmaker Palette called "Matt Wong" and did a soft winged liner with an angled brush. I then mirrored the shadow along Skylar's bottom lash line. I chose to keep her lips the same nude tone for this look since it was also all about the eyes.
