At Black Swamp Conservancy... Black Swamp Conservancy is a land trust that works to permanently protect natural habitats and family farms throughout northwest Ohio. Our preserved properties of more than 17,400 acres include 15 public parks and nature preserves, 8 miles of scenic rivers and more than 700 acres of Lake Erie’s coastal wetlands. In the next six months we will be creating two new public nature preserves and completing two significant habitat restoration projects. We have also been working to launch the new Black Swamp Food & Farm Initiative to seek out and support aspiring farmers, and increase access to locally produced food. The Conservancy relies on the support of landowners, donors and partnerships with other conservation organizations. We strive to be a wise investment for our supporters, whether they are giving us their land, time or money.

Thank you for your support of Black Swamp Conservancy. We hope you enjoy the evening! BLACK SWAMP CONSERVANCY P.O. Box 332 Perrysburg, Ohio 43552 419.833.1025

Specials for the Evening History & Creativity Reflected in Ian Regent’s Food Our creative hors d’oeuvres this evening are from well-known local chef Ian Regent, who has long been a friend of Black Swamp Conservancy. Ian has been passionate about food since his childhood in Toledo’s vistula neighborhood. He spent his early years as a chef along the Maumee River in such locations as the Navy Bistro on the Docks downtown, Chef Ian (center) with Rob Krain and Erin Goatley Stella’s in Perrysburg, the Maumee River Yacht Club and the Toledo Yacht Club. But he is best known for his stints at Manhattan’s in Toledo’s UpTown district, and his current home at Perrysburg’s Rose & Thistle. Tonight and every night, you’ll find many cuisines reflected in Ian’s food: from his base in French and his love of Spanish, African, German, Polish, Filipino and others. But you’ll also find, in his love of food as an experience, the days of his youth at his grandmother’s side.

Reflecting the Maumee We have created an entirely new specialty drink for tonight, using pawpaw (like we grow at the Homestead), ginger, lime, orange angostura bitters and soda water. The beer and wine offerings are included in your ticket price; our specialty cocktail is priced at $6.00 (get your tickets at the merchandise table or our “roving” ticket sales people). We are featuring Toledo Spirits’ Maumee Moonshine in our drink tonight. Since 2013, this craft distillery has created unique whiskies, gins and vodkas using regional ingredients and fierce ingenuity. The Maumee Moonshine is made from local apples, corn and sugar.

The best weekend away - a secluded spot along a winding river - awaits your group in the Little Auglaize Wildlife Reserve in Paulding County. You and your group will have exclusive access to the Reserve, including a 3-bedroom home on the property and river access, for a weekend. This 226-acre site is one of a few remaining large tracts of unprotected natural habitat in northwest Ohio, and even features a mile and a half of frontage along the river. It has been designated a sensitive species area and is home to nearly 50 species of birds. In addition, its southern border is near the intersection of the North Country National Scenic Trail of the National Park Service, and the Buckeye Trail. The home is sparsely furnished, with beds (and linens), recliners in the great room, a dining room table and chairs, and some kitchen dishes and pans. Bring your own towels and anything special you’ll need for the time away.
