INTRODUCING STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS IN ARCHITECTURE

3rd YEAR , TERM-1....Community

Recreational port, Gulshan

1. Community Recreational Port, Gulshan: - For this project My site was in the heart of busy Dhaka city. - Here we are introduced with the building structural system. - I was given by the POST SLUB structural system for my project. -This project was mainly a recreational hub for all age people like- children, young & Old people. - It was mainly a public building, having some commercial facilities too.

Conceptual Thinking....

Introducing Culture & Context

Conceptual Sketch:

Conceptual Sketch:

- Project Activities & our Context

- Our own Space relationship.

LAKE SIDE EXPOSURE: As the site was adjacent to the huge Gulshan lake. So it was very important to make my Recreational Port as transparent as possible to lake side. I had generated lake site activities as we.

Symbol Of Culture and Context: Traditional Court: - It was challenge for me to introduce court in this project as the project was in urban busy area. But, I have tried my best to achieve atleast the essence of court in my project.

COURT, SEMI_OUTDOOR ACTIVITY, TRADITION.. In this compact project, I had tried to indroduced our traditional courts & the activities around the counrtyards. Here most of the space or function was arranged just beside a court thus the activities generates around the cout. The space quality was almost the space like our natural rural village. I had maintained our traditional space sequence of indoor+ INFLUENTIAL SEMI-OUTDOOR+ Outdoor.

THE DESIGN:

COURT, SEMI_OUTDOOR ACTIVITY, TRADITION.. - IN MY GROUN FLOOR PLAN , I HAD TRIED TO CREATE MORE OPEN SPACE. - THERE WERE COURT LIKE SPACE IN THE PROJECT. - TRIED YO HIDE THE PARKING IN THE BASEMENT AND AT THE ROAD SIDE AREAS.

Natural ventilation, realtion with the narure, creating our own traditional space was my main concern with the smooth functional linkage.

lake side court Traditional Court: 1st Floor plan

- Court side activity was a achievement of taht project. - I had made distinguish zoning for every single function.

lake side court

- this was a very challenging project as people from all aged will gather here for mainly recreational purpose. - It is also very essential to respect the surroundings so I had tried to make our traditional space as contexual as possible fot the site

Respecting the Urban context: In this recreational port, I had to maintain the context it self. as it was in the busy urban are, so it was very much needed to make the project as COMPACT as possible and for functional. So, the project also represent the existing context with the essence of our own traditional space.

Respecting the Urban context: In this recreational port, I had to maintain the context it self. as it was in the busy urban are, so it was very much needed to make the project as COMPACT as possible and for functional. - I had tried to make my recreational project almost transparent to south and north. - OUR TROPICAL CLIMATE was another main issue for my project. I enssured natural ventilation in every single function, ehich had made my port more sustainable.

Semi-outdoor Court Our Traditional Space: Introduction of court, semi-outdoor space, indoor-outdoor relationship, in uential semi-outdoor activities all were in this project. this project actually represent out culture and tradition in the URBAN WAY. - Semi-Outdoor terrace, Open to sky spaces, fragmentation of the spaces were in that project. - Sectional Linakge, Space to space linkage, inter weaving space, inter active public space were successfully implemented here in this project.

Project Entry

Boat Club Facility POST SLUB STRUCTURAL SYSTEM: Post slub structural system is very renowned building structural system. This type of structural system doesn t need any beam or lintel fo that reason this structural system actually creates some free owing space. - For a public recreational space, a free owing space is a very essential aspect. I had use this structural system to make my port more inviting both to the people & nature. - This structural system was perfectly explored here by using circular forms and open to sky spaces.

People’s Interaction with nature & Culture: - Taking the people more close to the nature and making then to enjoy it was my design challenge as the site was in very busy urban condition. - Our Court, Traditional river front activities were also explored here in this project.

LAKE SIDE PERSPECTIVE VIEW OF THE PROJECT: - Making the project as close as possible to our nature, climate & context was my main consideration. - Try to achieve very smooth and interactive functional linkage in a compact urban condition.

3rd YEAR , TERM-2....Highrise

Commercial Building, Dhaka

RE-IMAGINING TALL... The main concept of that project

Conceptual Thinking....

Creating URBAN BUFFER A GREEN VOID:

CREATING A GREEN VOID:

- Would use as a green common public space.

As the site was in the very busy city in Dhaka and it was adjacent to the very busy node of Jahangir gate. So I had tried to create a green void just like a green large court to avoid huge tra c noise and pollution. This Green Court or void is called as green void. I also had tried to make a common platform that would be used by all users of this high rise building.

- would reduce urban pressure and noise. - contextual approach.

Green Buffer: - I have created a green buffer for my highrise building. - Green court and huge green void for the urban pressure. - Green were also converted to the building as green window. I had tried to make void in the building for air pass as and for green window. - Here I also inuenced our context by using semi-outdoor activities and court.

Creating Green Window to the high rise building is an aspect of context.

NATURAL TOUCH IN A MACHINE

A common green platform for all public space was needed in this busy urban context.

A GREEN VOID:

THE DESIGN:

HUGE GREEN VOID ENTRY: A large green void, semi-out door activities, Integration with nature was the key of my design. I had tried to give green life to my high rise machine.

LAYER CONNECTIVITY AND INTERACTIVE COURT: in this high rise commercial complex I had tried to make some inter active court like semi-outdoor space and some terrace as well.

LAYER CONNECTIVITY AND INTERACTIVE COURT: in this high rise commercial complex I had tried to make some inter active court like semi-outdoor space and some terrace as well.

SECTION OF CINE PLEX - Section needs to maintain the clear height. - noise protection are also very important in cineplex.

SECTION OF THE HIGH RISE BUILDING: GROUND LEVEL WAS ALMOST A HUGE VOID HAVING GREEN, WHICH WAS ACT LIKE A GREEN BUFFER

Green Void

PERSPECTIVE VIEW....

Highrise Commercial Building, Dhaka.

I had created green window. as a high rise building works almost like an machine so I had tried to make some space for green which could be used as a community space for this building.

MODEL PERSPECTIVE VIEWS - Green terrace - Green Void - Urban green buffer

this green entry gave the green entry view which also represents out context an climate. CLIMATE is always a huge issue for my design
