Does the culture in Tensta need a house? Or is there more to a culture house than it’s building. What if Tensta Culture house was a cultural and social network creating an interesting dynamic between the main cultrual actors (1) in Tensta, its residents aswell as visitors. The aim is to create a platform for the residents of Tensta to be active and take charge of their own community making participation more accessible. Can the associastion of Tensta Träff (2) 16. act as a base for such a network, and what is needed inorder to fulfill the idea of a Culture House in Tensta?
(2) Tensta Träff is the district' of Tensta central focal point. The oranisation of Tensta Träff main goal is to offer rentable spaces for the many culture associasions in the area, many of wich have no fascilities of their own since ther is a great shortage of commersial spaces in Tensta. Tensta Träff houses The Culture Cafe, Tensta Libary, as well as rentable premises and a great assebly hall. The association's goal is to serve as a base to support and develop the local cultural and organizational activities.

Symbols and "image" has increasingly become global commodities, and the economy of symbols has become an active driver in the production of space. The symbolic economy, therefore, alters the city's geography and has taken an active role in creating representations of and for the city.

Tensta Culture house is a cultural and social network creating an interesting dynamic between the main actors in tensta and its residents. The aim is to create a platform for the residents of Tensta to be active and take charge of their own community making participation more accessible.
Since fall of 2009 Tensta Architectural school KTH started in the facilities of Tensta Ross Gymnasium, offering a post gymasial preparation program to the school of architecture at KTH(2). The program mainly focuses on site actions and architectural production using participatory methods engaging the students on real on-site 1:1 projects in the local area(3).They find the funding themselves and the aim is to create a real dialoge in the development project Järvalyftet(4). The program works closely to Tensta Marknad and Culture House Tensta. The IDEA store also has a collaboration with Konstfack school of Art(5) and have workshops and other interesting collaborations. The IDEA store also connects the cultural non governmental organisations in Tensta. As well as the Adult College of Västertorp, the Tensta Library and the youth center Blå Huset aswell as the Community Center.

To explore and discover the district of Tensta’s assests this map weaves a web of stories and stich pieces of Tensta and tells a story of a new spatial relation. This map will guide you trough the hidden city of Tensta. The purple dot will help you seperate fiction from fact.
Another important platform of Kulturhuset Tensta is the information center and the citizen office(6). Its located down in Tenstagången outside Tensta Shopping Center as an important meeting point. At the Infocenter everything going on in Tensta is posted on a big billboards in one of the storefronts. Here you can book the facilities that are managed by the Culture House Tensta. The information center acts as the window of all activities in Tensta and this is where you go whether you are looking for a course, a job, social support or a cultural activity in Tensta. Its also serves as a meeting place for Internet access. Tensta Street Markets office and the local administration is also located in the Infocenter to be accessible to the citizens of Tensta as well as its visitors.
