SETTING INTO A MOMENT

This work has been created as a group work. A physical space is tried to be illustrated through a section of the movie “Kill Bill. Several scenes show different perspectives of the spaces and they are all linked each other via camera moves and angles somehow. By projecting and moving the view on the paper, the whole space is constructed in a way.

FUTURE STRATIGRAPHY

The work is the representation of the courtyard of Mehmet Efendi Madrasa. It was created by using oil pastels and excavating through a certain body of the coloured area which is a reference to archaeological techniques of discovering ancient mosaics to the surface. The excavation is the second layer of another spatial respresentation ,so the first layer is seen through it which is intented to be coincidental.

PRINTING THE BODY

In this work we have used linolium printing to respresent ourselves by engraving our body on linolium and printed it in two different colors. We work on two and more overlapping layers to discover the moment. I keep apart one of the my body part and print them in different angles on the prewious print.

TRANSMOGRIFIED

We made a collage work with collect the old and nowadays photograps of Salt Galata and Karakรถy region. A city is never seen as a totality, but as an aggregate of experiences, animated by use, by overlapping perspectives, changing light, sounds, and smells. We might understand architectural experience in a similar way. While using this technique we are perceiving the space in a completely different way.

FOLD AND OPEN

In this work, the perspective view of İMÇ is drawn on folded paper. First, we drew the existing structure by considering the repeating pattern of the building elements. ı have tried to draw the building bye looking at the view of the iconic staircase of İMÇ. the staircase links every floor so, I fragmented the staircase in every floor by folding paper between. In the folded part of the paper, I extended the space by drawing a new space between two floors. When we open the folded parts we can discover the new potentials of the existing place.

INK WASH

This work was inspired by Chinese Ink art technique. First, we met at the Pera Museum and experienced the exhibition at there. Afterward, we have produced a collective drawing in which everyone tried to take a part of a view from a park in ĹžiĹ&#x;hane and the first drawing represented it. In the second drawing, we tried to represent the movement we have seen in the landscape. I tried to represent the urban traffic.

TRIP AROUND MY ROOM

MONDAY The towel is hanged behind the bedroom door.

TUESDAY The towel is taken from the bedroom door. It is needed because it was my shower time. The towel is wrapped to my hair. It is travelled with me all

WEDNESDAY It had stayed on the bed until my sleep time. I was pretty tired and sleepy. So I took the towel on my bed and threw it down. I woke up, it was on the floor and I trod on it. It had stayed there all day.

THURSDAY The towel is taken from the floor to the out of my bedroom. Because it became dirty, and it needed ed to wash. It saw washed. It was in my hand I hanged it in the balcony. A balcony is a place where it will be able to dry quickly.

FRIDAY It was taken from the balcony. Because I needed to shower again. The story of my green hair towel shows my shower routine. I shower every second day.

TIME MACHINE

Today’s work was part of the workshop that is Erkek Kızlar, Haşmetli Yosmalar ve Falcı Bacılar. In the workshop, it is investigated and mapped the fact that there are women on the street in Istanbul as represented in the encyclopedia. In the encyclopedia, traditional women can be mostly minority, excluded or extraordinary roles in the urban space, whereas modern women are represented as disembodied and unwarranted. The research on the relationship between bodies and spaces will start from the woman to the others, from the encyclopedia to the present places of the city. The product of the work will be the historical narratives and stories collected throughout the process and the transformed and observed information into mapping with the common and fragmented production of all participants. In this work, we have chosen a character that is depicted in this encyclopedia. I found a woman who has an extraordinary role, a sailor. In the encylopedia, it has written that she could not get married because she is not a traditional woman figure. Then we went to Istiklal Street and examined a character that drew our attention. I found a woman who participates urban life as a barista.

CITY OF CROSSED DESTINIES

In this work, we tried to found a fortune with objects and subjects that we found in the Archeology Museum. It is written in the records that Yedikule Dungeons is a structure where state documents are kept and where domestic and foreign prisoners are imprisoned. But a legend who does not write in the records is circulated among the people.

According to the legend, there was an old lady among the important prisoners imprisoned in the dungeons. She had been kept there when she was young because she was a woman with power and so, people were afraid of her. She had become older there but became more powerful day to day. People who were afraid of her wanted her to be dead and decided to poison her by to mix poison in her food. The man who brought the poison with a glass bottle, firstly poisoned the horses to test it is working or not. After the horses died, the man poisoned the old lady too. When she realized that she is dying, her power had revealed. Her body and the horse’s body was disappeared with this power. She will be returned to life after a long time. She will become a warrior with horses that murdered with the same poison to defend the women against despotism.

TALES FROM THE GARBAGE

Dirtiness is an inseparable part of daily life. But it has no place in architectural representation. To criticize it, we tried to reflect all kinds of pollution that may or may not be present in the space with the fruits and other coloured products that we collect from the Üsküdar bazaar. We have drawn the section of the Mihrimah Sultan Mosque and coloured with ‘dirtiness’ of Üsküdar.
