Creative minds have always been known to
survive any kind of bad training.
What is Psychology? Psychology is the study of human behavior. “Study of the soul, study of the mind.”
The time of person‟s life when they are child. Between the infancy and adolescence.
Childs Development Process that involves learning and mastering skills such as siting, walking, talking, skipping, etc. Every child goes through this process and they learn these abilities
Time of life: A period of time during which a person is normally in a particular life state.
Anal phase, anal stage: 1-3
Phallic stage, phase: 3-7 The
(Psychoanalysis) The second sexual and social stage of a child‟s development during which bowel control is learned.
third stage in a child‟s development when awareness of and manipulation of the genitals is supposed to be a primary source of pleasure.
Prepuberty: Period of two years immediately prior to the onset of puberty when growth and changes leading to sexual maturity occur.
Latency period, phase or stage: 8-13 (Psychoanalysis) The fourth period during which sexual interests are supposed to be sublimated into other activities.
Personality Refers to individual differences in charcteristic patterns of thinking feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two brood areas:
Is understanding individual differences in particular personality characteristic such as sociability and irritability. The is understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a whole.

Reflection Know about psychology and all the studies are very important because as a teacher I need to know about my little kid. We learned some meanings about the development.
Pregnancy ď‚Š Nicotine: It is estimated that 15 to 25% of women smoke during pregnancy and although pregnancy motivates a minority of women to stop smoking for at least part of their pregnancy, most start again after delivery. There is also a strong correlation between maternal smoking during pregnancy and young age, unmarried status and being from low socio-economic strata. Despite current knowledge about the detrimental effects of smoking during pregnancy, the reduction in smoking among pregnant women is progressing very slowly. In some regions, e.g. Sweden, smoking has decreased at a higher rate and is now below 10%. This decrease is however often coupled to a simultaneous increase in the use of smokeless tobacco, resulting in virtually unaltered levels of nicotine exposure for the fetus. Although knowledge about the negative effects on the fetus and the newborn of smoking during pregnancy is getting increasingly widespread, this habit still remains a great problem worldwide. The International Child Care Practices Study concluded in a survey of 21 centers in 17 countries that an average of 22% of mothers and 45% of fathers were smoking at the time of their childâ€&#x;s birth. Although the geographical variations are large, this most likely represents the single largest modifiable neuropharmacological exposure for the fetus. A large number of studies confirm that maternal tobacco smoking during pregnancy adversely affects pre- and postnatal growth and increases the risk of fetal mortality, morbidity, cognitive development, and behavior of children and adolescents.
ď‚Š Alcohol: Thousands of children are born with the effects of prenatal exposure to alcohol. While many people drink, alcohol is poisonous to the child that grows inside the womb. The ingestion of even an alcoholic beverage per day during pregnancy the baby in development can be exposed to the risk of serious birth defects. A small amount of alcohol can cause permanent damage to the child. The use of alcohol during pregnancy can cause serious problems in children and adolescents: Infants may show slow growth and developmental delay, unusual facial features, irritability, brain and neurological disorders, mental retardation and problems with their attachment to their fathers. Kids and school-age children may have problems with learning, low tolerance for frustration, inadequate social boundaries and difficulty reading. Teenagers can have continuous learning problems, depression, anxiety and inappropriate sexual behavior. Facial deformities. Slow and retarded development. Brain and neurological problems. The Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) a syndrome that can be caused by drinking alcohol during the pregnancy is not well known. This syndrome can be given to your baby even if you just drink a tiny bit of alcohol once during the entire pregnancy; this depends on the alcohol-sensitivity of your unborn child. Children with FAS have difficulties with learning, concentration, communication and often have social problems. The appearance of children with FAS is characteristic. Babies who are born with FAS will have this for their entire life. Try replacing a glass of beer or wine with other stress-easing pleasures, such as a warm bath, soft music, a beauty treatment, exercise or reading.
Cocaine: Cocaine use during pregnancy can affect a pregnant woman and her unborn baby in many ways: A. twice as likely to have a premature baby; B. More likely to have a low birth-weight baby; C. More likely to have babies born with smaller heads and smaller brains proportionate to body size. Cocaine cuts the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the fetus, the baby may be much smaller at birth than it would be otherwise. May cause the placenta to pull away from the wall of the uterus before labor begins. This condition, placental abruption, can lead to extensive bleeding and can be fatal for both the mother and her baby How does cocaine use during pregnancy affect new borns? They are born may start life with serious health problems. Before Babies of women who use cocaine regularly during pregnancy are between three and six times more likely to be born at a low birth weight (less than 5.5 pounds) Many are very irritable, and cry at the gentlest touch or sound. Consequently, these babies are very difficult to comfort other cocaineexposed babies "turn off" surrounding stimuli by going into a deep sleep for most of the day. Problems that are faced by babies whose mothers use cocaine during pregnancy? •
Some, but not all, studies suggest that they may have a greaterthan-normal chance of dying of sudden infant death syndrome
•
Most affected appear to be fine motor skills, such as those used in learning to write, draw or play sports. Most children who were exposed to cocaine before birth have normal intelligence.
•
Teachers also report more problem behaviors in cocaine-exposed children compared to unexposed children. As a result of these subtle effects on learning and behavior
“It is especially important for pregnant women to be mindful of what they eat because everything is passed along to the baby.”
Behavior:
1. The Barely Noticeable There is always one pregnant woman that you wouldn't necessarily know is pregnant unless she spilled the beans and told you herself. Usually tall with lots of room to hide a baby, she may not even need maternity clothes. 2. The Built For It There are some women who just seem made for pregnancy. They don't slow down, they glow and bounce right back afterwards. 3. The Out of Control I would classify myself under this category. We're usually short and the baby just grows outwards beyond logic. Strangers comment on how you must be carrying twins or near ready to pop when you're barely in the second trimester. 4. The Constantly Sick I feel terrible for the women whose bodies don't really get along well with growing a baby. They're constantly sick with something or other and it can be hard to watch. You want so badly to help, but aren't able to fix it! 5. The In-Better Shape You've probably seen her. I will never be her. But I am always impressed by the pregnant woman who is more fit than anyone else and continues to do marathons well into the third trimester. 6. The Awkward Pregnancy changes your body a lot and sometimes these changes can occur overnight. The awkward pregnant woman is always taken by surprise and she's always just a bit awkward about it. She stumbles, pops her belly on the door way or never quite fits into her shirt. 7. The Please Help Me The women who think that just because they are pregnant that everyone should do everything for them. They use this time as an excuse to get what they want, when they want it.
Brain Development
The first three years of life are a period of incredible growth in all areas of a baby's development. A newborn's brain is about 25 percent of its approximate adult weight. But by age 3, it has grown dramatically by producing billions of cells and hundreds of trillions of connections, or synapses, between these cells. In this section you will learn about the many ways parents and caregivers can help children get off to a good start and establish healthy patterns for life-long learning.
Brain Stimulation How – and why – brain games help “The root of later learning is grounded in strong cognitive skills,” explains psychologist Keith Gibson, Ph.D. “By helping their children build skills like memory, comprehension, logic and reasoning among others EARLY – even before school years – parents are actually increasing the chance of academic success, and likely life success.” The cognitive skills that Gibson refers to are what his brother, Dr. Ken Gibson, writes about in his book, “Unlock the Einstein Inside: Applying New Brain Science to Wake up the Smart in your Child.” In it, Dr. Gibson explains the importance of building strong cognitive skills early – even before kindergarten – to help prevent learning disabilities. “It‟s not about teaching your kids the ABCs,” says Dr. Gibson, who is also the founder of the national brain-training company Learning Rx. “Processing skills, like sound analysis in fun rhyming games, are much more important because they help successfully think, understand, visualize and create useful associations, which will help with reading later. What good does it do if a child can point out the letter B in a story, but doesn‟t know what it sounds like?” Best of all, honing cognitive skills is something that can help ALL children. As Sabra Gelfond-Ingall, co-director of the National Speech/Language Therapy Center in Bethesda, Md. explains, “New research in the field of brain plasticity shows that we can help the performance of children with unique learning styles and special needs. These children and the children who are labeled „underachievers‟ may just need a little brain boot camp.” No- or low-cost brain games For toy store addicts, there are many store-bought games that can help improve a wide variety of cognitive skills. The original echo game, “Simon,” is great for auditory processing, memory and processing speed. “Mastermind for Kids” is a new version of an old classic that increases logic and reasoning. For older kids, board games like “Stratego,” chess and checkers can also help with mental tools like planning, memory, comprehension and focus. For very young children, phonic flashcards can be a great springboard to early reading skills, like sound analysis, sound blending and segmenting. Of course, there are plenty of free games that you can play to increase cognitive skills. The trick is to find several that are ageappropriate and that your kids find enjoyable.
Remember, whatever brain games you choose, make them fun for you and your kids!
