Exciting news! I can now set up a member number and have it linked to the master account for those family members. CHEF’S WHIM: RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Artichoke Wonton Wrappers Makes 24
Ingredients 24 small wonton wrappers 1 jar (12 ounce) quartered and marinated artichoke hearts, drained and chopped 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese 1 garlic clove, minced 1/4 cup sliced pitted black olives, chopped 1/4 cup red bell pepper, chopped 1/2 cup mayonnaise 24 small wonton wrappers

Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. 2. In a medium-sized bowl, stir together the artichoke hearts, Parmesan cheese, garlic, black olives, red bell pepper, and mayonnaise until well combined. Set aside. 3. Spray the cups in a mini muffin pan with oil. Then, gently press one wonton wrapper into each cup. Evenly fill the wonton wrappers with the artichoke mixture. 4. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until the wonton wrappers are just browned and the artichoke mixture is bubbly. Serve warm.

Wine of the Month ERATH PINOT NOIR

From the LOCC Golf Club Committee
Where would we be without GOLF in this strange COVID-19 world? The coronavirus outbreak in early 2020 rattled our day-to-day like nothing else in our lifetime. Businesses of all kinds, including the golf industry, were put on their heels. A study by the National Golf Foundation (NGF) revealed that in April only 44% of golf courses nationwide remained open (Lakewood Oaks fortunate to be one of them). Since that April stumble, participation in golf has BOOMED at an accelerating rate. Here’s just a few statistics courtesy of the NGF: • More than 98% of golf courses are open. • Here in the Midwest, October rounds played were up 47.2% versus 2019. • There are now HALF A MILLION more junior golfers than a year ago. • US golf equipment sales in Q3 jumped 42%… highest since impact of Tiger’s ‘08 US Open win. • The number of 9-hole rounds are up 15% as folks find time to squeeze in a short loop. • Only ONE STATE has seen a decline in rounds played this year - Hawaii, for obvious reasons. So, as we pause this time of year to give thanks for all the blessings in our lives, lets add a very strange 2020 “thank you” to GOLF as it’s helped to keep us active, sane and connected with all of our relationships at Lakewood. Also, there is a great jump in our very own golf membership, which is very pleasing. On that topic, please stay vigilant in taking care of our course by fixing ball marks, cleaning your cart after your round, picking your tees, etc. As the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”, could refer to the care of our course.
