Opening Weekend timetable Monday 3 May mac and Artmusic present

The City Sings 2pm to 4.30pm The City Sings is a new work written by Helen Ottaway to celebrate the re-opening of mac. During the Opening Weekend listen out for fragments of the new anthem around Birmingham and in Cannon Hill Park. On Monday workshops will be available in our Randle Studio at 11am and 12noon – come along and learn the anthem. From 2pm music will echo across the park, mini concerts will take place and wheeled movers will create a kind of public choreography. The event’s climax is a finale on mac’s terrace at 4pm. Join in as musicians and singers from all over Birmingham appear together to perform in the extraordinary event.

Interactive Rangoli & Janavak sampad invite you to take part in the ancient craft of Rangoli. Have fun drawing your own patterns on the floor using coloured rice and decorating with sequins. Also, Indian folk dance group Janavak present a selection of different folk dances from different parts of India.
