Since the frst school opened in the 1800s, Macomb has taken great pride in providing frst-class educational opportunities for everyone. Over the decades, change has been the keystone to a successful educational program, while the goal of providing the best educational opportunities for the community’s students has remained constant. The Macomb School District is well known for providing excellent opportunities for its students. The district enrolls over 2,000 students and has 287 certifed and educational support personnel. A systematic, performance-based evaluation system is utilized to ensure the district employs high-quality personnel to staff early childhood, elementary, junior high, and senior high school programs. The district’s success is due not only to the efforts of top-notch faculty and staff, but also to the outstanding support from the community. Students enjoy the support of band and choral boosters, athletic boosters, the parent teacher organizations, the Macomb Education Foundation, and numerous individuals and organizations who partner with local schools on a yearly basis.
MacArthur Early Childhood Center provides pre-kindergarten and pre-school programs for approximately 120 children. The District’s youngest students are surrounded by caring staff and a kid friendly environment. Family involvement is encouraged, and the center hosts several family events throughout the school year. The staff at MacArthur is dedicated to ensuring each child in its program receives the very best start on their journey through the world of education. Lincoln Elementary School educates children in Kindergarten through third grade. Lincoln’s young students receive a solid educational foundation and families enjoy a variety of special programs throughout the school year. The teachers at Lincoln are committed to providing a wonderful educational experience to all students in a warm, stimulating environment designed to foster a love of learning. Edison Elementary School is for children in grades four through six. Students at Edison continue to build upon the foundation they began in early elementary environments, but also have the opportunity to participate in a myriad of other educational programs designed to enhance what is presented in the classroom. Enrichment activities focusing on math, science, and the arts are offered throughout the school year, and it is during their years at Edison that student have their frst experience with the school district’s top-notch music program. Macomb Junior High School is dedicated to serving its seventh and eighth grade students through the middle school concept, which works to foster and develop young adolescents. Team teaching and the opportunity to participate in exploratory classes provide students with an educational program designed to meet the needs of early teens. MJH also offers a full range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities, including sports, music, drama, and academic activities. Macomb Senior High School offers a

comprehensive program of coursework. Students have access to a varied curriculum, including vocational-technical classes through the Western Area Career System, dual credit courses through Spoon River College and Western Illinois University, and Advanced Placement classes. MHS also offers a strong agriculture program and an active Future Farmers of America chapter. Macomb High boasts premiere choral and instrumental music programs. A full complement of athletics is also available. The Bombers compete successfully at all levels in dozens of boys, girls, and co-ed sports for boys, girls, and co-ed. Academic competition is also a strong part of the MHS extracurricular program, providing opportunities for students to flex their intellectual muscle through World Youth Science and Engineering (WYSE), Scholastic Bowl, and math and science clubs.

St. Paul Catholic School
St. Paul Catholic School has been raising Saints since 1902. Their Mission is to educate each child academically, spiritually, morally, and socially in a Christ-centered environment. St. Paul offers PreKindergarten through sixth grade.
The Pre-Kindergarten program begins at age three and provides a fun and educational play-based learning environment. The Pre-K building is located on the St. Paul campus just steps away from the elementary school, therefore allowing pre-k students to take part in many of the special activities that happen through the school year including plays, fairs, and church celebrations.
The Elementary School offers Kindergarten through sixth grades and takes great pride in academics, community involvement, and leadership development. With each class having their own special service project, the opportunity to lead Mass every week, and mentor younger grades; students feel more confdent and capable of transition into junior high school. The staff takes the utmost care of each individual child and creates a safe and nurturing atmosphere to foster a child’s best work educationally and generally to form a well-rounded student.

Western Illinois University
Since Sept. 23, 1902, Western Illinois University (WIU) has provided outstanding opportunities to individuals in west central Illinois and beyond.
Western is a comprehensive university offering 62 undergraduate and 41 graduate degree programs, which includes an Ed.D. in educational leadership and a Ph.D. in environmental science.
WIU’s Macomb campus is the educational, cultural, social, and athletic center of the region. With over 250 student organizations, WIU strives to help every student fnd their own unique passion, while thriving on campus and in the community. Twelve major theatrical and dance productions and studio shows are performed each year, along with award-winning concerts, lectures, presentations, flms, and more. The Multicultural Center houses the Gwendolyn Brooks and Casa Latina cultural centers, which offer programs and activities focusing on Black and Hispanic cultures, while the Women’s Center promotes gender equity through education, support, and advocacy. The University’s athletics program sponsors 17 NCAA Division I intercollegiate women’s and men’s varsity sports. Football competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision through the Missouri Valley Football Conference; all other varsity sports compete at the Division I level through The Summit League.

Spoon River College
Spoon River College is a two-year, public community college dedicated to providing quality education that’s paired with affordability. Tuition is one-third the cost of a public university and one-sixth the cost of a private university. They serve approximately 2,500 credit students per year in a 1,566 square-mile area including portions of Fulton, McDonough, Mason, Schuyler, and Knox counties.

Spoon River College Outreach Center
The mission of the Spoon River College Offce of Community Outreach is to positively impact the communities they serve through offerings, partnerships, projects, new opportunities, and leadership. Courses, programs, and projects run continuously throughout the year. Classes and programs are offered in Macomb, Canton, Havana, Rushville, and online.
Community Outreach at Spoon River College includes vocational skills credit and non-credit courses, entrepreneurship workshops, workforce training, employability skill development, specialized business and industry training, professional development for licensure or continuing education credits, technology and computer training, personal enrichment opportunities, and youth education programs.

U of I Extension Offce
University of Illinois Extension provides practical translations of cutting-edge research to help people, businesses, and communities fnd answers to some of the most pressing issues of our modern world. The University of Illinois Extension work is guided by a desire to create meaningful progress toward addressing a select group of issues, which they call grand challenges.
Community - Community involvement and leadership are core skills essential to thriving communities. Many of Extension’s most popular and long-standing programs celebrate community connectedness and the benefts of living in a society that is enabled to facilitate group decision making and implement effective plans. Economy - Their programs and tools enhance local, state, and national efforts to create vibrant economic ecosystems that provide opportunity for business, communities, and the Illinois workforce. Environment - Extension programs facilitate decision-making and discourse that balance the needs of agricultural producers against public interest in sustainable food production and preservation of the natural environment. Regional Offce of Education #26
The Regional Offce of Education #26 (ROE26) based in Macomb is the chief administrative offce of an educational service region overseeing regulatory functions as directed by the Illinois School Code for schools in Fulton, Hancock, McDonough, and Schuyler counties. The Regional School Superintendent supervises a total of 18 public school districts in the four-county area and the ROE26 acts as an advocate for education by providing positive leadership and disseminating information for educators, school districts, and the community. In addition, ROE26 acts as the offcial advisor and assistant of school offcers in the region. ROE26 also provides preschool and early childhood and family support programs, adult education curriculum, safe-school alternative learning, and life assistance initiatives for at-risk youth. The ROE26 serves as a partner in special education and vocational coops for residents in the region’s western Illinois service area.
Innovations Design Academy
Innovations Design Academy was established in 2005 and trains students for careers in cosmetology. Students are also able to provide hair, nail and skincare to the public at a reduced cost.
Cosmetology is offered to prepare students for the licensing examination by the Board of Cosmetology for the State of Illinois only. Additionally, Innovations provides every opportunity for the students to gain entry level skills for the professional cosmetology job market.
Instructor Training is offered to prepare the Instructor Trainee for the Licensing Examination required by the State of Illinois Board of Cosmetology. This also allows the Instructor Trainee to gain the skills required for employment as a Cosmetology Instructor or Nail Technology Instructor.
