While the health care industry has changed immensely, MDH has remained constant in its commitment to providing health care in an atmosphere of healing and compassionate care.

Present day, more than 35 doctors currently have MDH privileges along with an additional 18 advanced practitioners. MDH continues as one of the largest employers in McDonough County, totaling over 500 employees on a full- and part-time basis.

MDH provides an impressive spectrum of advanced medical treatments, personalized health services, and partners with industry leaders to maintain services such as: Advocacy; AirEvac Lifeteam; Anticoagulation; Behavioral Health; Cancer Care; Cardiology; Cardiopulmonary; Convenience Clinic; Diabetes Education Center; Ear, Nose and Throat; Emergency Services; Family Medicine; Food and Nutrition Services; Gastrointestinal; Home Health Care; Hospice; Hospital to Home (H2H) Swing Bed Program; Laboratory & MDH Drive-Thru; Lifeguard Ambulance; MDH Medical Group; Nuclear Medicine; Obstetrics & Gynecology; Pulmonology; Radiology; Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation; Surgical Services; TeleHealth; and Wound Ostomy Clinic.

An accredited hospital as evaluated by The Joint Commission, the MDH Laboratory was recently recognized and accredited again by the College of American Pathologists in summer 2021.

MDH is currently in its 24th year as a member of the OSF Stroke Network, an added component of again meeting the requirements to be designated as an Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital. A full list of MDH service lines earning national accreditation can be found at www.MDH.org/about-us.

The 2021 calendar year saw several building and renovation projects across the MDH campus. The popular and convenient MDH Drive-Thru opened in March, providing laboratory draws and COVID-19 testing from the convenience of one’s vehicle seven days a week. The Drive-Thru staff and MDH Vice President/Chief Nursing Offcer Wanda Foster, RN, FACHE both received the 2021 Outstanding Community Service Award as announced by the McDonough County Quality of Life Advisory Committee.

As part of a campus beautifcation plan, the parking lot and frontage road around the Drive-Thru and Health Services Buildings (HSB) 1 and 2 were repaved to help make parking easier while providing better access to the MDH buildings. Brand new LED lighting was installed, replacing outdated light fxtures in every parking lot.

Work is scheduled for completion at the end of 2021 for the renovation project inside HSB1. The nearly $3 million dollar project expands clinical space on the frst floor and will feature a convenient, new Radiology suite on the second floor.

The much-anticipated Dolores Kator Switzer Women’s Center (DKSWC) opened its doors in February 2020, featuring: eight private obstetrics/gynecology recovery suites, a nursery, three Labor-Delivery-Recovery rooms, renovations to the obstetrics and imaging waiting rooms, and a Radiology center. services expansion includes: diagnostic imaging, new waiting area, and expanding and remodeling the suites for 3-D digital mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, ultrasound, and bone density screenings. This facility and the staff of obstetrics and gynecology providers hired to serve the community demonstrates a direct investment towards strengthening comprehensive women’s health services for the entire region.
