APPRECIATION With deep appreciation, the family of Lula B. Kelley wishes to acknowledge the many comforting messages, prayers, flowers as well as all of the other expressions of kindness, love and support at this time.
Obituary Lula B. (Williams) Kelley was born on August 23, 1927 in Belzoni, Mississippi. She was the youngest of two daughters born to Mrs. Will Ella Johnson. Lula would often talk about her childhood in Mississippi where, at a young age, she accepted Jesus Christ and began her Christian walk. She also obtained her education there while helping the family raise crops. She learned how to cook amazing food and overall had some good times in Mississippi. While she loved to talk about the fun times of growing up in the country, she also shared stories about the harshness she endured while doing what she hated more than anything: picking cotton, the only available employment in the area at that time. In 1942 she gave birth to a daughter Eloise, the apple of her eye. She later married Norris Kelley and together they raised their family, moving from Mississippi and settling in Indianapolis in the 1950s. They had a beautiful marriage for over 45 years until his death in 1991. Upon coming to Indianapolis, Lula held several jobs for various companies, including Community Hospital and City Market. Her longest employment was at RCA Corporation where she worked as an audio tester for many years until her retirement. She also became a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church upon moving to Indianapolis. She faithfully served at the church as an usher and in many other auxiliaries for over 55 years. Lula departed this earthly life on July 5, 2016 at 88 years old. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved to be around family and friends and was always willing to help those she cared about in any way she could. She was preceded in death by: Will Ella Johnson, her mother; Norris Kelley, her husband; Willie Mae Wingard, her sister; and Eloise Cork, her daughter. She is survived by Robert Cork, her son-in-law; grandsons Rodney (Suzanne) and Michael (Sherrell) Cork, great-grandchildren Randall, MiKayla, and Micah Cork, and great-great grandchild Kelli Cork; great-niece Sabaea Pipkin, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, acquaintances and friends. To God be the glory!! Humbly Submitted ------------------------------------ The Family
