OBITUARY Robert Allen Cork
was born on August 15, 1940. He was the youngest of four children born to Fred Curtis Cork and Mattie (Caldwell-Payne). He was raised in West Indianapolis (W.I.), where he spent most of his childhood surrounded by siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, caring neighbors and friends. He often spoke of the good times and close-knit ties of that neighborhood. He was raised in a very religious home and was exposed to and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at a very young age. He remained active in his faith and attended several churches over the years. Most recently he was a faithful member of New Zion Tabernacle Church, where he attended regularly until his health prevented him from doing so. He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1958. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. He was a Communications Specialist and served during the Vietnam War era. All of his duty was stateside and he served at military bases in Omaha Nebraska, San Antonio Texas, Abilene Texas and Cold Lake Canada.
In January of 1962, he married the love of his life, Eloise (Williams) Cork. Together they had two sons, Rodney Anthony and Michael Allen. This loving marriage lasted 36 years until the passing of Eloise in 1998. A great provider for his family, he was a licensed, professional barber working at Carol’s Barbershop. He also worked as a laborer for Chrysler Corporation for over 35 years until his retirement in 1999. For several years he worked at the Chrysler Indianapolis Electrical Plant. However, upon its closing, he made the difficult decision to commute daily to the Kokomo Transmission Plant to help support his family. A friendly, warm and funny man, he was always ready to debate the current events of the world. He would frequently hold lively “debates” with his friends at Chrysler and at the local White Castle Restaurant where he was known to always have the last word. Robert Allen Cork transitioned from this earth on July 27, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother ( Ronald) and his wife Eloise. He is survived by his brother, Winford Cork, sister, Beverly Smith sons, Rodney (Suzanne) and Michael (Sherrell) Cork, Grandchildren, Randall, MiKayla and Micah Cork, Great-Grandchild, Kelli Cork, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins family and friends. To God be the glory!! Humbly Submitted The Family
