The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises, the final Batman film in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine. 2 hours 45 minutes.

Christopher Nolan steps back into the director’s chair for this finale to the Batman Trilogy. It has been eight years since Batman disappeared from the positive public eye, turning, in an instant, from hero to fugitive. After taking the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar (Anne Hathaway) with her mysterious agenda. This Character was well played and remained fairly low on the cheesiness scale compared to other cat woman characters. The more realistic version was refreshing and kept the plot of the movie from getting out of hand. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive

Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. The audience gets to sympathize with the character of Bruce Wayne, who at the start of the film is a deteriorating recluse. We get to see him re-emerge with strong ideals and physical strength, overcoming obstacles to save once again, his beloved Gotham city. The special effects were impressive but worked quite seemlessly in combination with the actors and the dialog The 2 hour 45 mins goes by rather smoothly and enjoyably This is in a large part due to plot twists and turns, interesting characters and a very colourful, intriguing, heartfelt ending. I would say this film is a fun way to spend an afternoon. The only problem? It leaves you wanting more....

a brief History Of Batman... Batman is an ongoing comic book series featuring the DC Comics hero of the same name. The character first appeared in Detective Comics published in May 1939. Batman proved to be so popular that a self-titled ongoing comic book series began publication in the spring of 1940. His sidekick, Robin, was present from April 1940. The original series ended in 2011 and was relaunched with a new first issue. Batman was also a 1960’s American television series. It stars Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin — two crime-fighting heroes who defend Gotham City. It aired on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) network for three seasons from January 12, 1966 to March 14, 1968. The show was aired twice weekly for its first two seasons, resulting in the production of a total of 120 episodes. The Batman/Superman Hour is a Filmation animated series that was broadcast on CBS from 1968 to 1969. Premiering on September 14, 1968, this 60-minute program featured new adventures of the DC Comics superheroes Batman, Robin and Batgirl alongside shorts from The New Adventures of Superman and The Adventures of Superboy. Batman Beyond (known as Batman of the Future in Europe, Japan, and Latin America) is an American animated television series created by Warner Bros. Animation in collaboration with DC Comics as a continuation of the Batman legacy. Depicting the teenager Terry McGinnis as a new Batman in a futuristic Gotham City under the tutelage of an elderly Bruce Wayne, the series began airing on January 10, 1999, and ended its run on December 18, 2001. After 52 episodes spanning three seasons and one direct-to-video film, the series was put on hold for the new Justice League animated series despite the network having announced plans for a fourth season. However, there was a short-lived spin-off, The Zeta Project. In The Zeta Project’s first season episode “Shadows”, there is a crossover with Batman Beyond; in this continuity, the story takes place between the episode “Countdown” and the series finale “Unmasked.” The continuity of Batman Beyond has made various crossovers into comic books published by DC Comics, including an ongoing series beginning in 2011. Batman: The Brave and the Bold is an American animated television series based in part on the DC Comics series The Brave and the Bold which features two or more super heroes coming together to solve a crime or foil a super villain. As the title suggests, the cartoon focuses on Batman’s regular “team-ups” with various heroes similar to the most wellknown version of the original comic book series. The series premiered on November 14, 2008 on Cartoon Network in the United States, and ended on November 18, 2011. Batman: The Animated Series is an American animated television series based on the DC Comics superhero Batman. It was produced by Warner Bros. Animation and originally aired on the Fox Network from September 5, 1992 to September 15, 1995. Noted for its thematic complexity, dark tone, and high artistic quality, the series has been praised by critics and fans alike as arguably the greatest, most faithful adaptation of Batman, as well as one of the greatest animated TV series. The series also won four Emmy Awards and was nominated for six others. 7 • Macro

Here’s something exciting! NASA successfully landed the Curiosity Rover on Mars. The American government may have been diverting funds from the space shuttle program, but NASA managed to successfully put together their current Mars Rover Project. Minutes after touching down on the planet, Curiosity sent back this picture as proof of life on Mars:

Curiosity Rover Lands on Mars Safely

Just kidding! Here however, is a real image. The one on the right was the first to be sent after touchdown. Yup, it photographed its own wheel. The rover was shooting into the sunlight so there is less trace of a shadow. The rover is also measuring radiation, temperature, seismic activity and humidity.
