11 Tips and Ideas to Keep Inspired Through Vancouver’s Rainy Season With rainy seasons, it’s easy to get bummed out and even depressed. Depression is really what happens when we lose inspiration – when our creativity is stifled or crushed. Here are a few ideas to help you through, to keep you inspired … to keep you going:
1.
Put on a pair of rubber boots and go splash around in a few puddles.
2. 3.
Kick and push through a big pile of leaves. Just because, go for a walk, in a rainstorm (walk fast, or even run). Five minutes is all you’ll need to forget your woes.
4.
Stock up on art supplies and have fun! Paint a new canvas, sketch a new comic character, go crazy with pastels …
5. 6. 7.
With rain, also comes rain photography. Why not become the next master. If you don’t do it, somebody else will. Why not watch a few online tutorials. Even three minutes is long enough to learn a new trick.
Flip through the pages of a design book - there are a ton of inspiring pages in every book.

8. 9.
Stretch it out or shake it off. Sometimes a bit of movement is all we need. Go up a flight of stairs and back down again. It’s amazing how fast we can shake off stale energy. Perspectives – changing things up to provide new views, move a few files around on your desktop or maybe all that’s needed is to turn your couch a few degrees to the left.
10.
De-clutter your space. This translates to decluttering of the mind. Get rid of stale, make room for fresh. A good mantra to live by.
11.
Last and most importantly, remember to make time to play, laugh and, have fun!
Enjoy your season full of inspired activities! Written & Edited by Jo Martinez.

or the Jewellery Design Students at LaSalle College International Vancouver, collaborating with photography students from the Graphic Art program is the grand finale of the year long program. The jewelry designers use a variety of luminescent and textured materials, such as metal, faceted stones, plastic resin and crystal beads, all in very fine detail. This is a great challenge for the photographers to manage the lighting, focus and resolution while using live models. In the Summer term of 2016, photographer
Fedor Dubiley provided a very professional experience, tethering his camera to an iPad so the students could preview, modify and select their favourite shots as they went along. Working together, we executed both catalogue and stylized fashion themes for their work. The jewelry photo shoots at LCIV are a valuable experience for students from both departments, and result in wellfinished photos that all participants can use to enhance their portfolios..
