This was my first project for second year of university. I started by focusing on menswear tailoring and how it could be changed into womenswear. I decided to look at Coco Chanel's history and how she first started making clothes by changing men's equestrian wear into clothing for herself. This brought me onto looking at equestrian wear. However, I wanted to add an extra element to my design work so I began focusing on the side saddle from the same era Chanel started up her business. This brought me into creating designs which had an asymmetric element to them (one sided). I also added saddle shapes in the designs and a lot of my fabric choices were inspired by traditional tailoring fabrics, especially equestrian style fabrics.
