DODGE COUNTY FAIR
Dodge County Fair has 5 nights of fun Country music duo LOCASH will play Friday night; Six seek to be Fairest of Fair TERRI PEDERSON tpederson@wiscnews.com
Dodge County Fair runs Aug. 16 to 20 with an entertainment lineup to please everyone. Doug Ninmann, fair board president, said that the fair entertainment will begin with the Badger State Tractor Pullers at the Grandstand Stage Wednesday at 7 p.m. The show will feature five tractor classes and offer an entertaining show for those in attendance.
“As a fair board, we always try to keep the fair so everyone can afford to come,” Treasurer Sharon Keil said. “We have a split price at the gate.” The fair is $7 before 2 p.m. and $10 after. There are also season tickets that cost $27 before the fair and $35 as of Aug. 16. Tickets are available at area banks, Beaver Dam and Juneau Piggly Wiggly stores and Rechek’s Food Pride. Entertainment can be a

great expense for the fair and it can be very costly if bad weather happens, Keil said. “If we are hit with four nights of rain, we still have to pay the entertainers,” Keil said. The fair is trying to give everyone a reason to attend, Dodge County Fairgrounds web and social media administrator Dale Norenberg said. LOCASH, a country music duo with some recent chart hits, will perform on TERRI PEDERSON, DAILY CITIZEN the grandstand stage Friday Six candidates for Dodge County Fairest of the Fair were also announced Monday: Alicia at 8 p.m. LOCASH’s current big Burnett, Beaver Dam; Peyton Litterick, Horicon; Melody Rex, Horicon; Grace Rowley, Beaver hit is “Ring on Every Fin- Dam; Ronna Woock, Burnett; and Julie Zuehlke, Beaver Dam. ger,” Norenberg said. Two other well-known hits are “I Love This Life” and “I Know Somebody.” “We wanted to offer something for everyone,” Norenberg said. “We did a survey and learned that if we had two nights of young country music, then people would just choose one night to attend. This way we offer a wide range of entertainment to attract a lot of different people.” The Oak Ridge Boys will perform Thursday, Aug.
17. Keil said she has gotten more calls about the Oak Ridge Boys than anything else. “They are an older group that still has popular music,” Keil said. The rock act will be on Saturday night, Keil said. The group .38 Special has Southern roots and includes popular hits “Hold On Loosely,” “Caught Up in You” and “Rockin’ Into the Night.” Oak Ridge Boys and .38 Special will have shows that

DODGE COUNTY FAIR
Commodity Carnival comes to the fair The world’s leading futures exchange – and the National 4-H Council – America’s largest youth development organization – are partnering for a fourth consecutive year to bring their popular and award-winning Commodity Carnival fair experience to more than 100 state and county fairs in nine states this summer.
An interactive and educational game about the business of agriculture, the Commodity Carnival teaches young fair goers how to manage the costs and risks associated with bringing an animal (this year, a beef steer) to market. Beyond the fairgrounds and throughout the year, the Commodity Carnival mobile app, Risk Ranch, enables people of all
ages to try their hand at agricultural risk management from their mobile devices, as well as online. “With 4-H, we are able to reach young audiences and provide them the tools to kick-start their thinking about food production and the risks that farmers and ranchers face – knowledge that will become crucial as global demand for food increases in the coming decades” says CME Group Executive Chairman and President Terry Duffy. Look for the Commodity Carnival at the north end of the Swine Barn at the Dodge
County Fair Aug. 16-20, along with other interactive learning stations. Youth and adults will be able to gain agricultural knowledge by participating in a variety of activities that will encourage hunger for more. The Risk Ranch app is available all year long and can be downloaded from GooglePlay or the AppStore, or accessible from www.cmegroup.com/4Hcarnival. Since its launch, Risk Ranch has earned multiple awards, including Best Children’s App and Parents’ Choice Approved Award Winner.
