Think in jewel tones and less in the bright colors that defined the Brady Bunch. From the venue to the flowers, it’s easy to fuse these colors into a one-of-a-kind wedding without going overkill. Even better, you can still attain an elegant look when done right – and enjoy this unique palette in any season. “Bohemian is effortless cohesion,” says Lindsay Parrott-Masiewicz, who owns P3 Events in Connecticut. In addition to all the upbeat hues, add a little gold into the color palette for a distinctive look. An Unforgettable Atmosphere Start with textiles and make your tables take on the motif. Taper candles, submersible LED lights and linens can be the perfect accents to add the

color without overwhelming guests with your theme, adds Audrey Issac with 100 Candles based in California. “If you’re looking for a subtler touch, look to your candle and floral vessels – consider colored and textured glass votives and vases for the eclectic look often associated with bohemian inspired celebrations,” she says. Boho Chic What you, and your bridal party members, wear can also incorporate the color palette. Dresses can also tie into the theme, and Issac suggests letting bridesmaids choose their own outfits – just make sure they fit the tone of the big day, such as upscale or rustic. Some bridesmaids will be fine in a sundress for a beach wedding, while a more classic wedding requires a formal dress.

Weddings ALL ABOUT THE HAIR
“Give them one or two colors and allow them to take the lead on the hue and overall style,” she says. “Blues and greens in particular work well with most skin tones; save the brighter colors, such as yellow and oranges, for accents and accessories.” You can encourage bridal party members to incorporate a pattern, as it will add to the eclectic vibe. As for the bride, adorn your locks with fresh flowers. “Channel your inner flower child by donning a floral crown made out of wildflowers,” notes Megan Velez with the Destination Weddings Group, a network of wedding planners across the globe. Prefer a traditional veil? Then, see if your wedding party is on board with donning natural blooms, instead!” “And for the dress, aim for light fabrics, flowy sleeves and a touch of lace,” Velez says. Speaking of flowers, this theme lets you explore other plant life. “Texturizing your floral arrangements and bridal bouquet will add interest and natural playfulness,” says Dawn Stafford with the event planning firm Gathering Souls in Washington D.C. “Berries are plentiful and come in an array of hues from pale pinks and deep reds to bright greens and icy blues. Succulents and greenery provide lushness and complimentary monochromatic tones.” Those are just a few ways to add colors. Your flowers and invitations can also incorporate the colors, while ribbons can accent just about anything while featuring engaging patterns. © CTW Features

Your hair is a central component of the overall bridal look. What you choose to do with it — and adorn it with — can dramatically change your finished appearance. Follow these tips and tricks, and you are sure to be happy with the results. Updo — or Down? Before you choose a hairstyle, you must take into consideration the style of your gown, as well as the overall tone you are hoping to set for your wedding. Your hairstyle should complement these aspects — not compete with them. Your face shape also will play a role in your overall decision. Just remember, the goal is to look like the best version of yourself — not someone completely different. So consider styles that don’t stray far from your everyday look. If you regularly wear your naturally wavy hair loose, a simple side-swept bun with a long veil will look more appropriate than tight ringlets and a tiara. Veils: The Long and Short of It The veil has become a classic wedding accoutrement and is available in many lengths, styles and fabrics. Consider the style of your dress when choosing a veil; ideally, these items will be purchased at the same time. Will you want to show off the back of the dress? Stick with a veil of sheer silk netting. Is your dress an ankle-length, vintage chic stunner? A birdcage veil is the likely choice. When choosing a hairstyle, be sure it allows for the veil of your choice to be easily secured. Headpieces and Hair Jewelry Another option is to forgo the veil altogether. Baubles designed specifically with your locks in mind are getting more and more popular. Think golden floral combs, delicate headbands and whimsical bun wreaths. You can leave behind jewels and metals of all kind, and go floral; a wreath of delicate rosebuds or one elegant magnolia bloom can add a breath-taking touch of romance.

Wedding Planning 101 Once the excitement of being engaged settles in, you will need to begin to plan the nuptials. Many brides-to-be can’t wait to start trying on dresses — but before you head to the boutique, there are other items on your to-do list. Here are the first few things you need think about: Pick A Style Have a conversation with your fiance and discuss how you want your wedding to feel. Fun and festive? Intimate and sophisticated? Has one of you always dreamed of marrying barefoot on a beach or on the lawn of a stately mansion? What are the most vital elements of the wedding to each of you? Decide what’s most important to each of you and compromise. Decide On A Timeline While the availability of your most coveted vendors will help you choose an exact date, you still need to think about other factors that will impact your timeline: Is there a season or time of year you hope to marry in, or avoid? Holidays or other family events you need to work around? You also might consider how much time you need for planning and preparations. The answers to all of these questions will help shape the timeline of your wedding. Set Your Budget This can be one of the most difficult tasks of wedding planning. You need to have sitdown conversations with each other, and with each set of parents, to be clear who will be contributing what when it comes to finances. These numbers will impact every other decision you make, and you don’t want to plan or purchase based on assumptions. Book Priority Vendors Priority vendors will be the people in charge of the elements most important to you and your fiance. The most significant of these vendors will likely be your venue. Your venue will impact almost all other aspects of your wedding — including your date. Another vendor who will likely take top billing is your photographer. Be sure to research all your options to secure the best price with the extra amenities you want.

Thank You Card Etiquette Receiving wedding gifts is an added joy of getting married. Writing thankyou notes for each of these gifts, however, can be a challenge. Who to Thank Everyone who has given you a gift should receive your thanks. Be sure to add anyone who helped in planning, organizing, and decorating or ran errands on your behalf. When to Send For every gift you receive before your big day, you have a couple of weeks to post a thank you note. For every gift received at or after your wedding, you generally have a few months. What to Say As a culture, we have always struggled with the best way to say, “thank you.” The best way to pen a mass quantity of thank-you notes is to stick with a simple formula, with a touch of personalization. Start with a simple greeting: Dear __________________________, Then express your gratitude: Thank you so much for ___________. Mention the gift by name and add a personal detail. This could be how you plan on using the gift. If the gift was money, describe how you plan to spend it. Follow up this sentence by stating when you hope to see the person again, what the person means to you, or just that you’re thinking of her. Finally, end with your regards.
Enjoy a destination wedding everyone can get to.
