It should be designed to use as an accent piece in homes, blending with any dĂŠcor style. The brief included blending of vintage and modern styles to create a piece that would make a statement. Vintage feature: complexity and continuity of form Modern feature: Highlighting single feature, simplified construction Construction: Flexiply shell, wooden base frame, PU foam cushioning. Upholstery style: Solid colour fabric with contrast colour or contrast finish(matte, gloss) piping.

Course: Design of Folding Furniture Faculty Guide: Prof. Rajan Iyer The brief was to design a seating device for accommodating extra guests. The goal was to achieve a space saving chair that breaks away from the image of conventional stackable plastic chairs. Hence, a folding chair was designed that was space saving as well as looked aesthetic. Segment: Extra seating for domestic spaces Features: Easy to maintain, synchronized opening, sturdy, comfortable, aesthetic. Key element: Flat fold Why folding? Why not stacking? Folding- portable, easy to put away when not in use. Stacking- more practical for storing large number of chairs for commercial use. Material: Wood (warm, visible grain structure adds to the aesthetic)

This understatedly elegant home came with a straight forward brief from the client that he wanted it to be converted into a large space with whiter tones which instils a sense of peace. Apart from the three bedrooms, a home theatre and a terrace garden was also a part of the design.

Course: Lifestyle Product Faculty Guide: Asst. Prof. Amit Deshmukh To design a cocktail range: a cocktail glass, cocktail shaker and a rack to hold glasses. The range will be used by a very high income group of people in a cocktail lounge which is situated on a ship’s deck. The users are rich and habitual to luxury and have come on the cruise for relaxation and pleasure hence the range would reflect luxury, elegance and adventure. The basic materials used will be glass, stainless steel and mild steel. And the color pallet would include shades of black and golden with a matte or textured finish.
