April 8 from 4:30 to 5 pm

I hosted a planning session for the bake sale.

April 15 from 3:45 to 6:30 pm

I will make sure to bake everything needed for the bake sale.

This became somewhat difficult because we had trouble with the oven and stove, and we did not originally have enough ingredients to bake all to the items that we wanted to.

April 17, 12 to 12:25 pm

I will run the bake sale for part of lunch.

The first day of sales was the best selling, and it slowed down a lot during the second day. This made it easier to sell, but was a little bit frustrating. For the next day, we worked more on marketing and making sure everyone knew where we were holding the bake sale and what we were selling. I connected this day of my project to the concepts of Supply and Demand, which I studied this year during Fall Term in my class Econ.

April 18, 11:40 to 12:25 pm

I will run the bake sale through lunch.

The next day of sales was better, though it was hard to coordinate because I had to go out to buy my own lunch, so we had to take shifts.

April 19, 12:10 to 12:55 pm

I will run the bake sale through lunch and try to raise at least $60 overall.

.75

We made a total of about $100!

April 23 12:30 to 1 pm

I will get my Human Rights Campaign Membership and sign up to volunteer for them.

This was very simple, the only issue I ran into was the fact that I do not have my own credit or debit card, so I used my parents’ and paid them back in cash.

April 30, 12:20 to 1:20 pm

I will start the online HRC training lessons, take notes and finish course 1.

1

The course and quizzes together took more time than I was expecting, so I had to finish the course later. It has been really difficult for me to find time to complete these lessons because I am really busy.

May 6, 9:30 to 10:25 am

I will complete course 1, complete course 2, and begin course 3.

1

I used class time to finish course 1 and get most of the way through course 2. These have been taking longer than I expected and I was glad that I had finished my assignment already so that I could focus on this. Throughout the HRC course, a question that I continually thought of was: Is there a right way to be an activist?

It took longer than expected to plan, because we had to make sure that everyone would be free to bake and that the time was optimal for people to buy. My question related to this project was: How can I effectively make political connections and communicate my ideas?
