SM Lite is a product of the Project, “Protection and Rehabilitation of Coastal Ecosystems for an Improved Climate Change Adaptation in the Philippines as a Contribution to the Coral Triangle Initiative” (ACCCoast), and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) under the framework of its International Climate Protection Initiative. The Project is managed by GIZ in close cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB, formerly the Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau or PAWB). The Project’s main partner to raise community awareness through social marketing and to engage communities in the management of MPAs is Rare, a U.S.-based conservation NGO. ACCCoast started in January 2011 and terminates in June 2014.
