DESIGN
Design a website. Now. Grady, Campbell Chicago (US) • 2011
During this three’months internship I dealt with several project from different clients but I spent most of the time designing the website of the company which will be online in October. The process took a while beacuse of the huge amount of contents (the studio has been around for more than twenty years). Furthermore there is a design for a mobile version.
Swiss layouts, but not that Swiss. Your Interface Lugano (CH) • 2010
I joined Your Interface, a web agency based in Lugano (Switzerland), to improve my skills in a field which I haven’t dealt with enough: the web. During this part-time internship I’ve designed the layout of few websites and improve a geo-based application.
An interest about sustainable transportation gridchicago.com Chicago (US) • 2011
When I met Steven Vance, a Chicago-based urban planner and popular blogger, I immediately perceived a strong passion toward sustainable transportation and great skills imn coding, This is a project for a contest about using the ity Council database.
A little bit of coding. Just for me. UIC Chicago (US) • 2011
During a lab I developed some skills in HTML and a great knowledge about the latest jQueries. I don’t like to show uncompleted works. I’ve designed this website for me, the reason I’m not using it regards the fact I’m waiting to have more works to show. Designers know.
A two-days brand image project. Your Interface Lugano (CH) • 2010
In the month of July I was called by the agency for an open position. They were looking for an art director and asked to me to design something that could improve their brand identity, the logotype was already developed and I was required just to improve the brand identity.

I CAN’T GET NO SATISFACTION When we had to visualize the theme of insecurity in the whole educational field we firstly had a deep analysis of the different schoolastic paths that an Italian student can walk from his/her first years to his/her entrance in the labour market. We noticed that most of
our visualization is logically correct only in the present. Maybe this representation could not be the same in the next future; currently a lot of changes regarding the whole educational system have being discussed in the Parliament for an important reform proposed by the Minister Mariastella Gelmini. ¶ As a conclusion of this period of research and design, we face an unsolved question: is it possible that the labour market is the only factor which influence the students choices for their future?
The first part of our visualization tries to show the complex relationships system (economic, didactical & decision-making flows) that permits the existence of the whole Public University System. In the second part we analyse the different academic paths from starting the university to obtaining a master degree. Secondly we show how the different academic carees are related to the real labour market. ¶ We also want to point out the precariousness of the academic situation and, as a consequence, how
their choices are made after the high school, deciding for a job or an univeristy, and facing the different courses option. The choice to focus on public education is related to the shortage of information given from our sources about the private institutes. ¶ The fragmented appearance of the visualization, its formless image, reflects the confusion in which data are treated and offered from miur (the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research) and istat (the most important statistics institute in Italy).

Processing with bikes UIC • Density Design Chicago (US) • 2011
I had the pleasure to attend two courses with Daniel Sauter last semester in Chicago. They were focused on new media and new languages and in both the last project was related with data about cyclists safety in Chicago . BeatCrash is a Gps-based Music application, related to the phenomenon of Bike Crashes in Chicago. After a previous analysis, the city has been mapped in uniform zones. There are 4 kinds of zones, each type is related with the number of crashes in one square mile. Each zone is associated to a song loop. The compass changes the loop if the cyclist is biking east-west or north-south. Also all the crashes are mapped on the city in 5 different types: Fatalities, Incapacitating, Not Incapacitating, etc. Each crash is associated with a specific sound, so, as the cyclist is getting closer to that crash, a sound will be triggered. The goal of this application is to provide information about the surrounding environment in an unusual way. The application it’s designed to work realtime on Android phones, and for its structure both the songs and the topic related can be modified. In the page on the right there is an interactive visualization of the all bike crashes in Chicago from 2007 to 2009. It’s made using processing and MySQL for Information Aesthetic II class of Daniel Sauter at UIC, Chicago.
Wayfinding in Amsterdam Mijksenaar Amsterdam (NL) • 2010
I spent the summer of 2010 in a internship at Mijksenaar. This studio is recognized as one of the worldwide leader in the field of wayfinding and environmental design managing the signage system in Europe, North America and Asia. During this experience i worked in different projects. I’ve been introduced in the process of a signage system design for the Amsterdam Airport and various Dutch Stations. I worked for the agency’s brand image, precisely in fields regarding web and interaction design. Mijksenaar 7Cs is an animation based on the 10 design rules of Paul MIjksenaar.
Thinking in 16 Politecnico Milano (It) • 2009
When we design something we would always like to have no bonds so that we can create something that can truly represent ourselves. Even though bonds are known to increase the creativity in the research of new solutions. This preamble allows to explain the edges in which I worked for the design of my bachelor degree project, a visual book. Infact the main goal of the lab was to increase the usability of a book, chosen amongst the contemporary Swiss literature. The final result was a book that lead the reader to a personal interpretation of photos that have shadows as a common theme.
Be strategic! Politecnico Milano (It) • 2007
Business dynamics and economic models are part of a world that every designer should know about, so that what we design can have a commercial value, together with an artistic one. So in the course of Metaprogetto themes concerning marketing were handled, giving the grounds for the study of a real case. The team project that was chosen to deal with an existing brand (Ryanair Airlines), analyzing it and making it’s position inside the world trade grow through a campaign of integrated communication.

Learning to write Politecnico Milano (It) • 2009
When we talk about communication design we can’t avoid talking about one of the most important kind of communication: writing. In the lab of type design classical aspects of typography were expanded, together with the study of the latest updates in the field of type design through a personal research (i performed an interview with Claudio Piccini, who published a font for Emigre). The last phase of the course included the design of a specimen starting from a logotype, in this case Brembo.

Documenting the barrio UIC Chicago (US) • 2011
This project was born with academic purposes the last february in Chicago. The main goal was to document Pilsen and its social landscape. As soon as I arrived here I immediately perceived the soul of this neighborhood. Firstly I thought to describe it all through more voices, but as soon I met Marcos Raya I realized that the documentary would have been narrated with one voice only. The main goal it’s to describe not only Pilsen, but all the topics related to this place, through the eye of an artist.
Can you feel it? Politecnico Milano (It) • 2010
This video has been the result of a long research regarding themes concerning synesthesia. In a book of Italo Calvino, an international Italian writer, it seems to be expressed what we wanted to represent by images: a distorted perception of the world.

This book was born with the requirement to collect in a unique project all the photographes shot during six months spent in Spain in 2008. What I preffered to do was to differentiate two different collections through a particular structure of the book, one for the photographic language and another for the settings represented. MLG is a simple retrospective of the city of Màlaga, while in Ñ I pulled toghether all the photos shot during the trips in Spain and Morocco.
Still life CFP Bauer Milano (It) • 2010
I started this school in December on 2009 with the goal to acquire more familiarity with the photographic medium and with the desire to deepen certain aspects of this language more methodically. In the practical field I had the possibility to use advanced instruments, like medium and large format cameras.

This picture is one of the series “YEAH - Young Europeans Against Helvetisms“. YEAH is a research among young designers and how they are engaged with traditional fonts. In a lot of interviews it’s clear how these fonts result boring and repetitive. It seems that there is a necessity among the most of a new typographic dictionary. Every photo represents the relationship between the designer and the font Helvetica.
