Upitnik
KOJU ĆETE SREDNJU ŠKOLU UPISATI NAKON ZAVRŠETKA OSNOVNE I ZAŠTO?
Anđela Elezović (14) Nakon što završim 8. razred, upisaću Gimnaziju, društveno-jezički smer. Pošto završim tu srednju školu imaću dosta izbora i za dalje školovanje, moći ću nakon nje i da upišem medicinu, ako to budem želela. Upravo zato želim da upišem Gimnaziju, imam više izbora i mogu da biram šta ću dalje. Andjela Elezovic (14) After I finish the 8th grade, I will enroll in gymnasium, socio-linguistic course. Graduating from this kind of secondary school will give me plenty of choices for further education, and I will be able to study medicine if I want to. That is precisely why I wish to enroll in Gymnasium; it will give me more options to choose from about what to do next.

Jovan Mihajlovic (14) After the 8th grade I plan to enroll in Mathematical Gymnasium in Belgrade. I am not sure yet about what studies I will pursue after graduating from this high school, but I still have time to think about it. I like working with computers, I like IT, but social sciences too. The most important thing is that I have plenty of time to think about what to do next, and we’ll see.
Marko Ristovic (14) I am an excellent student, I get a B only once in a while. After the 8th grade, I plan to enroll in a gymnasium, socio-linguistic course, because finishing this school will later allow me to enroll in almost any college. Besides the school, I also love sports; I train basketball, so I might make a career out of it one day.
school of the month has left a trail through their personal creativity, innovation and ideas, giving rise to new generations to continue what had been started. “With the desire to continue at all times in the best way, we try to be among the first to implement all reform requirements, we have introduced many innovations and modern technology, improved material-technical requirements and methodology of work, and adapted them to the needs of each student. We wish the school to really be a place that students like to come to and are reluctant to leave; to be a beehive in which one learns, rejoices, and loves,” said the director of the school Ivan Zaporozac for the magazine 4U. On the occasion of the 60th birthday of this school, he added that they have succeeded in all of it and that an indicator of the success is the fact that the school has about 600 pupils and it also has exceptional professional staff, which reflects in excellent results achieved by the pupils in numerous competitions. A lot of attention is paid to the image of the school. The school organizes a series of actions, events, the school marketing is managed, and all of that, each year, results in an increase in the number of students enrolled. According to the director, Ivan Zaporozac, the primary school is characterized by the modernization of the teaching aids and teaching process, so that the Primary School “Branko Radicevic” is on an upward trajectory, and can compare even some European primary schools when it comes to modern way the classrooms are equipped and teaching methodology. “Quality education in a primary school is very important in the development of each individual, and we can help our students to follow the

rimary School “Branko Radicevic” in Mitrovica during the past time changed names and it has also been changing the buildings in which it organizes educational process, but what this institution has always been known for is the quality of the work. From its inception until today, through the school have passed tens of thousands of students, hundreds of employees, most of who left a large footprint and contributed to literacy and to raising educational and cultural levels of Mitrovica and the surroundings. This school recently celebrated 60 years of its existence, and when making a reference to the 60-year long tradition of an educational institution, one has a great honour, but also a duty and responsibility to adequately and in the right measure displays everything worthwhile that had marked that period. A lot of work and activities had been invested in the development of this institution, and that development is a deed of many generations of workers of this school. Each of these generations

modern trends of our time and life through various subjects - cultural, scientific, sports,” says Mr. Zaporozac. He is especially proud of his students, who he says are extremely diligent and good, and that the school has no peer violence. In the Primary School “Branko Radicevic”, the students are every morning greeted by light music, so that their working day and teaching process starts in a better way. This school has its own radio station and sound system, and every week for students is organized the school theatre, when they have the opportunity to watch a film that is in accordance with their age and maturity. According to the director Zaporozac, Magazine 4U is particularly popular among students in lower grades, who love to read it. “Recognizing that education is one of the most important factors in the development of each student, we have invested a lot of effort to make it accessible to all, in accordance with capacity of our school, equally fair for all and functional for a lifetime. We wanted parents to be our partners, and the local government an associate so we can work together to adopt real, effective values of the new generations, and that all staff are a professional team dedicated to children, as well as associates and friends. For our 60th birthday, we can proudly say that we have succeeded in it,” says at the end for our readers the director of the Primary School “Branko Radicevic”, Ivan Zaporozac.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO ENROL IN HIGH SCHOOL AND WHY?
Kad god mi škola i slobodno vreme dozvoljavaju, ja treniram, idem u teretanu i posvećen sam sportu.
Milovan Kontic (14) My priority after the 8th grade is to enroll in the Sports Gymnasium in Belgrade, because my plan is to become a footballer, and I have put a lot of hard work and all of my free time into this sport. I have been training football for eight years now. Whenever the school and free time permit, I go to trainings, to the gym and I am dedicated to sports. I have a great chance to enroll in this Gymnasium because I have been a straight-A student until the 7th grade, so I’m already looking forward to attending this school, and I see myself as a “Red Star” player one day.
Jovana Andjelkovic (14) After the primary school I am planning to enroll in a Gymnasium, although I am not yet sure about the major because I don’t know what my priority is and what kind of job I would prefer in life. All I know is that I would love to go to college and graduate from a university, but I’m still not sure which one. Subjects I do best in are Serbian language and mathematics, and this is why it is difficult for me to decide the course.
Marija Slavkovic (14) I plan to enroll in a nursing high school, major dental technician. I think this is where I can best express my creativity, as I like to make models of all sorts of things. After the nursing high school, I would like to graduate from a College of Dentistry. For the moment my favorite subject in school is English language, but I will not pursue an English major because I think that being a dentist is more profitable.

AKO MOŽETE NEŠTO DA ZAMISLITE, MOŽETE TO I DA NAPRAVITE!
T
6 for you
IF YOU CAN IMAGINE IT, YOU CAN MAKE IT!
D
uring the past year Bonevet centre in Gjakova has been one of the most talked about projects and we could also say the most successful one in Kosovo. The first feature of this centre is that it is a community based, non-profit centre where people gather to exchange knowledge and resources to create things. As such Bonevet is the first of its kind not only in Kosovo but the entire Balkans. The second feature and most important is that Bonevet has established the first “Makerspace” in Kosovo. Although this concept and way of work is relatively unknown in Kosovo, throughout Europe and the world, Makerspace is very popular and can now be found in libraries, universities, community centres, private organizations, etc. The main emphasis in Makerspaces is put on learning through the direct exchange of experiences and practical work and very little in the traditional learning through lecturing. Consequently, almost all of the projects developed there are a result of experiences and knowledge from various scientific fields. Miss Zana Nallbani, administrator at the Bonevet Makerspace, informed us that this is a place where all those that strive to learn and have the will to create can find themselves. “Bonevet was established at the end of 2014, as a private initiative of Mr Vllaznim Xhiha, who from his experience (traveling) saw that in most countries these spaces are visited by the youth, who get to express their creativity, work and learn through various projects. Thus he saw fit to establish a Makerspace here as well,” Miss Nallbani said. She went on to say that Bonevet offers programs that are related to modern advanced technology such as Arduino electronic boards and circuits, and programming; then
2D and 3D modelling design, use of 3D printers and learning the structure of 3D printers; the third field, is mechanics where one can learn about the construction and use of the so called CNC machines which are used to construct various objects and models from solid materials such as iron, wood, etc. Mr Lekë Zherka, the executive director of this centre, stated that in addition to the above mentioned programs Bonevet is open to everyone starting from the age of 8 and up. “We are also here to support those who do not need to be part of a class but simply need to use a 3D printer or other equipment. In case of 3D printings, anyone may come to print an object they need. We have also had cases when individuals or companies have asked us to create a prototype, which we have accomplished, but our goal is not to profit from this activity. They only had to pay for the materials that are used to create that given project,” Mr Zherka emphasized. During our visit we had the pleasure of meeting with Mr Jon Zuka, the 3D modelling class mentor and three annual members of this centre Elza Krelani (17), Flatra Thaqi (17) and Ndue Pjetraj (14). The last three mentioned, said that the greatest pleasure of being a member of Bonevet is that it induces their creativity, they learn many things that they cannot learn at school, and get to build stuff by observing all the steps that a company observes in accomplishing a project. Mr Zuka on his part emphasized that the most positive thing he had noticed is that as soon as this new technology is presented to the youth, their imagination enables them to invent many new ways to use this technology. As a result Mr Zuka said that he is also learning a lot from these young girls and boys. “The most positive news is that we are already in negotiations to open two more similar centres, one in Prishtina and the other in North Mitrovica,” Miss Nallbani stated, and went on to explain “In North Mitrovica contacts were established by various Embassies which have supported us with donations on several occasions. In turn, they liked this idea and expressed their interest in opening such a centre there as well. In Prishtina we are currently looking for available space in cooperation with the municipality. Here in Gjakova the municipality has provided us this building for free for the next ten years. We are a nonprofit organization and our fees are minimal. The daily fee is € 0.33, and if we have to pay rent this price would not be possible. We are willing to open another centre and we are seeking partnership with the municipalities.” In the end the team from this centre had one simple message for all the young people in Kosovo: “Our motto is ‘if you can imagine it, you can make it!’ Therefore, do not hesitate to approach new technologies. Don’t fear them but start learning, advancing and get a greater knowledge on how the world works in the 21st Century.”

SAJSI MC - “BESKOMPROMISNA I DIREKTNA DEVOJKA” For You: Kad, gde i kako ste počeli sa muzikom? For You: Ako biste jednoga dana vladali svetom, šta biste promenili?
10 for you
For You: Koji ste film više puta gledali? Sajsi MC: ’Divlji život’ (Das wilde leben), nemački film. Jako ga volim. For You: Koje su Vaše želje za Aladinovu lampu? For You: U kom istorijskom periodu biste voleli da živite? For You: Jel ljubav samo reč? For You: Ne možete da živite bez…? Sajsi MC: Bez kafe i bez svojih malih rituala. For You: Ispričajte nam nešto interesantno o Vama, a da drugi još ne
znaju?
I
For You: Koji je Vaš omiljeni lik iz bajke? For You: Koje slatkiše najviše volite? Sajsi MC: Marcipan i crnu čokoladu. For You: Kojih pet slavnih ličnosti biste pozvali na večeru?
For You: Omiljena pesma za đuskanje, film za gledanje i najbolja balada svih vremena? Sajsi MC: Predložila bih seriju „House of cards“, balada od Pantere - „Cemetery gates“, a pesma za đuskanje „Pour it up“ od Rihanne. For You: Šta mislite o mladima u regionu i koja je Vaša poruka za njih? Sajsi MC: Sa njima komuniciram preko mojih pesama.

SAJSI MC - “UNCOMPROMISED AND DIRECT GIRL”
I
vana Rašić, known as Sajsi MC, entered the world of fame as an uncompromising and direct girl from Belgrade streets. She writes her songs, does not care for fashion, although she is quite noticeable because of the way she dresses. Her texts are not curled in “gold cellophane paper”, she is sincere in communicating with the media and the audience, shows an unusual approach to show biz and this approach has brought this hip-hop artist new followers each day. It is not uncommon for her songs to carry messages that indicate social disorder. You can hate her or like her, love her or not, but one thing is certain, you must pay her ‘respect’. Below, Sajsi Mc in an interview for our magazine, equally honest, funny and provocative as always. For You: When, where and how did you start with music? Sajsi MC: Serious musical steps I had with the band SAJSI. With them we recorded three videos (7,9,11, Autism and Stefan) and the album “Misi, nači naš” published in 2009 by Power music. The band stops
working in 2010 and under the pseudonym Sajsi MC the same year I published the album called ‘Daleko je dizni(Disney is far away)”, accompanied by a music video for the single “BMX”. In 2011, I published a single “Pink purse” and then “Mama” and “Lajkiram”. In 2014 she released the video for the single ‘Pokvarenica’, with the album of the same name, published by ‘Lampshade’ media. At the end of the summer this year will be published video / single for the song “BOT”. Do not forget, I would specifically like to mention indispensable Tijana Rasic, who is with me from the beginning. For You: If you would one day rule the world, what would you change? Sajsi MC: If I would come into power, I would immediately abolish myself. That would be a very good performance. No one in history has done it and it would be interesting to do something like that. For You: Which film you watched multiple times? Sajsi MC: ‘Wildlife’ (Das wilde Leben), German film. I love it. For You: What are your wishes for Aladdin’s lamp? Sajsi MC: I would not like to sound superficial but I would
like to have this super power, to imagine the food and there it is, in front of me... it would really make my life easier. For You: In which historical period would you like to live? Sajsi MC: I am satisfied with this period, but I think that in the 60s it would have been awesome for me. For You: Is love only a word? Sajsi MC: Love is also much overestimated because it is exploited as a concept a lot and used to mask emotions which are not love. For You: You can’t live without…? Sajsi MC: Coffee and my little rituals. For You: Tell us something interesting about you that others do not know yet? Sajsi MC: Many do not know that I acted in a play produced by “Dah” theater titled ‘Invisible City’. The performance took place in a regular line of public transport, it is the bus number 26 and my role was to rap lyrics that I wrote myself which contained words borrowed from other languages, and I molded all that in a song.
For You: What is your favorite fairy-tale character? Sajsi MC: Tinker bell definitely, she was my imaginary friend when I was really little, the two of us hung out really nice. For You: What sweets you love the most? Sajsi MC: Marzipan and dark chocolate. For You: Which five celebrities would you invite to dinner? Sajsi MC: Jack Kerouac would have been first, that is, he would first receive an invitation, then Rihanna, the evening should be fun so the final selection are actors of my favorite series ever, “Absolutely fabulous” and in the end we just miss Dragan Torbica. For You: Favorite song for dancing, film to watch and the best ballad of all time? Sajsi MC: I would propose a series of “House of Cards,” a ballad from Pantera - “Cemetery Gates”, a song for dancing “Pour It Up” by Rihanna. For You: What do you think about young people in the region and what is your message to them? Sajsi MC: I communicate with them through my songs.

MULTIETNIČKI OMLADINSKI KAMP - “MLADI ZA BEZBEDNOST U ZAJEDNICI”
P
12 for you
MULTI-ETHNIC YOUTH CAMP - “YOUTH FOR COMMUNITY SECURITY”
L
ectures on children’s rights and community policing, staging short sketches on current social problems, playing Ping-Pong and billiard, disco and karaoke night were only some of the activities that were conducted during the multi-ethnic youth camp “Youth for Community Security”. The camp was organized by the Kosovo Police through the Directorate of Community Policing and Prevention, Sector for the Prevention of Juvenile Crime and Delinquency with the support of the UNDP’s program FERM. As a result for three days around 60 students of various ethnicities and representatives of schools from Prishtina (Technical High School “28 Nëntori” and Economic High School “Hoxhë Kadri Prishtina”), Gjilani (Gymnasium “Zenel Hajdini”), Ferizaj (Natural Sciences Gymnasium), Strpce (Technical High School) and Mamusha (Senior High School “Ataturk”) got together in Sharri Hotel in Prevalla. According to Mr. Mentor Cakolli from the Kosovo Police, in addition to the above mentioned activities the most important feature of this camp is that these children faced an environment that enabled them to break their mutual ethnic prejudices. “During these three days these children lived and worked in a multi-cultural environment that required them to communicate in a third language. The work groups were comprised of children from different ethnicities who were tasked to address their point of view on topics such as: cooperation between the police and citizens, violence in schools, peer violence, abuse of social networks etc. The result surprised us because these children managed to find ways to successfully communicate with each other. I only wish if our entire society could have seen and learned from them how we should get united to create a truly democratic society,” Mr. Cakolli added. We encountered the same enthusiasm during our conversations with several participants of the camp. Baris Taç, a Turkish student from Mamusha in Kosovo, emphasized: “We, the young people, need to attend such multi-ethnic meetings. Therefore, I wish and hope that we will soon be invited to participate again in such activities”. Velimir Ilic from Strpce said that this camp had given them the opportunity to make new friends and learn more about the security in their communities as well as how they can become active in improving the security. Ardita Gashi said that in her opinion this camp was helpful for her and for all other participants to learn how important it is not to allow negative phenomena such as discrimination, intolerance or hatred to get passed on to new generations. Jeta Tela, UNDP (FERM) representative, probably explained best the reason of enthusiasm shown among these children when she said: “The youth are active in the field of security, because security starts from us and we are all very well aware of this”. At the end of this camp, both the students and their teachers had only one request: continue with these projects and initiatives in which the young can exchange their opinions and ideas with their peers from various ethnicities. Consequently, this will break prejudices about other cultures, ethnicities or religions that live in Kosovo.

However, a very larg e number are mostly, or entirely, black, grey, or bro wn. Conversely, there are many small beetles that are easily mistaken for ladybirds, such as the tortoise beetles. Not all ladybirds have spots some are striped. •Ladybugs in temperate areas usually hibernate through the winter as adults often in larg e groups. Millions of them come tog ether in parts of the southwestern USA, where they cover the ground in a brilliant blanket. •A common myth is that the number of spots on the insect’s back indica tes its age.

MILICA MANDIĆ - ZLATNA DEVOJKA
M

MILICA MANDIC - GOLDEN GIRL
M
ilica Mandic is a Serbian national representative in taekwondo (Taekwondo) and she won the gold medal in this discipline at the Summer Olympics in London in 2012. Although in 2011 she won the bronze medal at the World Championship, and in 2012 she won silver at the European Championship, she became a true heroine of Serbian sports after she made a remarkable series of victories in London, qualified for the finals and then won the gold in London. Taekwondo is a relatively new sport in this region and it is a type of martial arts that is characterized by spectacular kicking techniques and speed. Thanks to Milica Mandic and her Olympic gold, this sport quickly became popular among young people. According to Milica Mandic the path to the historic success wasn’t easy at all. As the only competitor of the Belgrade taekwondo club “Galeb” in her category, before the Olympics Milica Mandić trained with her male colleagues who imitated the moves of her rivals that they previously studied in detail. With strong will, Milica managed to overcome all difficulties and fearlessly climbed to the very Olympic top of the taekwondo world. It is an interesting fact that no one else in the family of the
Olympic winner is a professional athlete. Milica Mandic practices twice a day, and besides training and sports she lives like many of her peers in Serbia. She likes long walks in Belgrade, drinking coffee with friends and basketball matches of her favourite team
“Partizan”. She explains that thanks to the sport she gained a lot, but also that the top sporting achievements cannot be achieved without sacrifice. “I cannot complain that I have missed a lot of “normal” life because of sport. Something always has to suffer, and there is still time to go out. When I get time off, when I have a vacation, everything is acceptable but when I’m in the training period, in general, I’m not interested in dating, so I do not miss it. If I know that tomorrow I have to get up early, or I’m tired of training, why would I go anywhere? Frankly, for me that is the easiest thing to avoid. I feel better just sitting alone with my friends and talking over coffee about what’s new in their lives,” says Milica. She adds that thanks to competitions she has visited some countries and regions, which she probably would have never had the opportunity to visit, if she was not engaged in sports. As particularly interesting places she singled out Brazil and Rio de Janeiro, Iran, St. Petersburg in Russia. To the question of whether men are afraid of her mental and physical strength and her success, Milica answered in the affirmative. “Frankly, I think they are afraid, but I do not know why. This sport is not typical for women, so I guess that is the way they see me,” said Milica. The Olympic gold medallist, Milica Mandic, says that her colleagues and coaches
hope that Serbia will after her success pay more attention to this sport and provide stronger support for its well-deserved promotion and development. Milica Mandic was born on 6 December 1991 in Belgrade. At the Summer Olympic Games in London in 2012 she competed in the category over 67 kilograms, and won the gold medal after victory over Tataligom Crawley, Maria Espinoza, Anastasia Baryshnikov and An-Caroline Graf. It was the third medal, and the first gold won by Serbia at the Summer Olympics in 2012. At the end of 2012, the Olympic Committee of Serbia proclaimed her the best athlete. TOLERANCIJA
T
24 for you
Ovakve situacije izražavaju nedostatak ljubaznosti, strpljenja, vaspitanja, poniznosti, ljubavi, samokontrole i hrabrosti.
TOLERANCE
T
olerance is one of the most frequently used words in modern societies. In most cases it is used, it implies its first and most simple definition: recognition of and respect for the opinions, practices, or behaviour of others. However, despite the frequent use and apparently clear meaning, achieving such a situation in real life is very difficult. Perhaps, this is related to the fact that tolerance as a concept has a much broader meaning and according to many scholars it is a moral virtue. This immediately emphasizes the first and most essential difference regarding tolerance, because the latter is not and cannot be confused with indifference (“whatever”), apathy (“who cares”) or recklessness (“why not”). On the other hand, whether we want to accept or not, the stance that tolerance is “accepting everybody’s ideas and behaviours” is simply impossible in practice. Of course, such a stance is a very good idealistic starting point for debates in classrooms and various auditoriums, but in real life this can simply not happen. Therefore we need to narrow down a little bit the meaning of the word tolerance
and see it in more practical terms. For example, when an engineer constructs a building, one of the questions he has to answer is related to the tolerance of the materials used during construction. In other words, he should certify how much the materials should bend before the structure is damaged. In this case the word tolerance first of all implies a generally accepted standard by everyone and then everything else is judged and assessed based on that standard. In this sense many modern philosophers such as Michael Dusche, John Rawls and Michael Walzer link tolerance with respect, equality and freedom. According to them tolerance should be seen as a civic and moral duty between individuals regardless of their colour, creed or culture. In other words tolerance is a moral duty that implies the respect for the individual as well as mutual respect and consideration between humans. Tolerance between people makes possible for conflicting claims, beliefs, values and ideas to coexist as long as they fit within acceptable moral values. Another unique aspect of tolerance is the fact that it is closely connected to our character. This means that tolerance derives its value from what someone tolerates and the way tolerance or intolerance is
expressed. For example, the fact that we agree with a wrong stance that does not comply with accepted social and moral standards (such as drinking and driving) does under no circumstances mean that we are tolerant. Just as someone is not automatically intolerant just because he opposes someone loudly, screams or has emotional outbursts. Such situations are in fact a result of our character and manners. They are an expression of the lack of kindness, patience, courtesy, humility, love, self-control, and courage. Even intolerance should be expressed through these qualities. We should not forget that democracy itself is built upon principles such as freedom of thought and speech but at the same time mutual respect and understanding. Opposing something does not mean you are intolerant. However, this opposition should be constructive, based on sound judgment and moral and social values, more importantly our opposition should be mature and dignified. Just because we are right in our stance does not give us the right to humiliate others. After all, maybe being tolerant means that we acknowledge that we are all the same and we enjoy the right to live, but also the obligation to let others live just as we do.

26 for you

he pleasant tone of voice and excellent diction, communication, regular monitoring and knowledge of current social trends, creativity and ability to quickly acquire new skills, responsible individual work and acceptance of personal responsibility for the job, as well as team work and excellent cooperation with other colleagues, are just some of the traits that adorn a good radio host. Voice of Bojan Joksimovia on the radio waves of Radio KFOR is recognizable to listeners for the past six years. Specifically, he is in the business of a radio host since 2011, and he says, he happened to be in these waters quite by chance. “ I heard the ad on a local radio station; they needed a radio presenter so I applied for the post and after the testing and interviewing, the editors of the radio station invited me to work,” said Bojan, adding that talent and education are necessary for the job of radio host. Preparation of the radio shows, thinking about the topics that will be discussed with the audience and choosing the appropriate music are some of

When asked to single out the things that help him the most to successfully perform this job, he says that these are primarily information and access to information and to a variety of events. While the hardest part, he said, is sometimes the very realization of certain programs. “Most of the problems are of a technical nature, which can sometimes lead to difficulties in the implementation of some programs, but this thankfully, happens rarely,” said Bojan. He says that sometimes it happens that regular radio listeners recognize KFOR radio hosts, including him personally, by voice, but he is aware that this is the nature of the business, and stresses that private life and work
do not fit together. Comparing the work that he now does at Radio K4 with previous work experience at other radio stations, Bojan Joksimovic explains that he became engaged in journalism as a journalist-associate in editing news programs, while today he is mostly engaged in entertaining shows with a lot of good music, which makes it a lot more convenient for him. Also, comparing the job on the radio with the other two types of media, press and television, Bojan, without much hesitation, replied that working on at radio station is nicer. That is why he recommends this profession to young
people, by doing this, they would have the opportunity to meet a lot of people and learn a lot. Bojan loves his work and if he were to be able to choose the profession again he would again choose this one. He says that to this day he remembers first day at work, excitement and nervousness he felt when he first entered the studio and sat down in front of the microphone. At the end he said to all young people to seize opportunities that will be given to them in life. “Be persistent and success will come along,” believes Bojan Joksimovic, a radio host in Radio K4.
