Kao i uvek mi smo pripremili mnogo novih i zanimljivih tema specijalno za vas. Ovog meseca posetili smo osnovnu školu “Sveti Sava” u Severnoj Mitrovici. Na modnoj rubrici moći ćete da pročitate koje su deset najpotrebnijih stvari za vašu školsku garderobu. Za ljubitelje muzike pripremili smo intervju sa jedinstvom rok grupom “Orthodox Celts”. EDITORIAL Greetings, dear readers! We meet again this month at the beginning of another year of our companionship. We hope that you had fun during your summer holidays and that you are ready for another school year. On behalf of the editorial office of your favourite magazine “For You” I would like to wish you good health and success during this school year you are about to start. As always we have prepared many new and interesting topics for you. This month we visited “Sveti Sava” Primary School in North Mitrovica. In the fashion column you may read about the 10 essential items for your school wardrobe. For the music fans we have interviewed the unique rock band “Orthodox Celts”. If you wish to find out what they had to say about their activities check out the music column. In the Animal Kingdom column we continue with our animals’ alphabet. In Moviemania we bring to you the latest movies, and this month’s sports column is dedicated to our female volleyball team that won the silver Olympic medal in Rio. In our questionnaire you may learn what some of your peers expect from this school year. As always we invite you to carefully read our social topics, which talk about the woes of the firefighters in Zubin Potok, the newest initiative of the OSCE mission in Kosovo to assist the young people that wish to become journalists and KFOR visits in some schools in Kosovo. You may also find your letters and latest technological inventions. OSNOVNA ŠKOLA „SVETI SAVA“-SEVERNA MITROVICA

snovna škola “Sveti Sava” u Severnoj Mitrovici postoji više od pola veka, osnovana je davne 1961. godine. Škola je iz godine u godinu rasla, kako u pogledu broja dece koja je pohađaju, tako i u pogledu kvaliteta nastavnog procesa koji pruža. Školu trenutno pohađa 827 učenika, koji rade u 32 odeljenja, a u okviru nje funkcioniše i istureno odeljenje u Suvom Dolu, koje broji 12 učenika. Direktor OŠ „Sveti Sava“, Milorad Jovanović u razgovoru za 4U magazin kaže da je novu školsku godinu upisao dovoljan broj đaka prvaka, kao i da im je cilj da imaju veoma dobru komunikaciju sa učenicima. „Mi smo se negde postavili da ova škola bude škola otvorenih vrata, da deca rado dolaze u nju i da u njoj što duže ostaju, da u njoj što više nauče i da pronađu neka

svoja interesovanja. U tom smeru i radimo, komunikacija sa decom je aktivna i podjednaka pažnja se poklanja i nastavnim i vannastavnim aktivnostima i radu sekcija”, istakao je Jovanović. On dodaje da težište rada u organizaciji jeste na onim sadržajima koji podstiču i razvijaju interesovanje, radoznalost, samostalnost i stvaralački odnos dece, van okvira redovne nastave, jer kroz razne sekcije učenici iskazuju svoju kreativnost, interesovanja i sposobnosti. U školi funkcioniše dramska, literarna, folklorna sekcija, ali je ipak Osnovna škola „Sveti Sava“, najpoznatija po svom horu, koji redovno učestvuje na raznim takmičenjima i osvaja brojne nagrade i priznanja. Prema rečima direktora ove škole hor je nastao kao rezultat potrebe talentovanih učenica i učenika da sudeluju u vannastavnim aktivnostima i time doprinesu razvoju muzičke kulture u gradu na Ibru. Direktor OŠ „Sveti Sava“, Milorad Jovanović naglašava da je zadovoljan svojim đacima i kvalitetom nastave koju škola pruža. „Deca su generalno dobra, naravno ima ponekad sporadičnih problema, tu su i pubertet i ljubav i zaljubljivanje, ali proces nastave je na nivou, onako kako je propisano zakonom i ja sa svojom decom stvarno nemam problema”, naglašava Jovanović. Nastavni proces prati nove moderne tehnologije, a ove godine škola će, zahvaljujući dobroj saradnji sa Lokalnom samoupravom i opštinom Severna Mitrovica dobiti novih dvadeset kompjutera i interaktivne table. ŠTA OČEKUJETE OD OVE ŠKOLSKE GODINE?

Danilo Virijević (14) Očekujem da ću imati bolje ocene, nego prošle godine. Nadam se i da ćemo ove godine imati više kabineta u školi, da ćemo imati kabinet za muzičku kulturu da bi mogli da vežbamo sa našom nastavnicom, jer smo prošle godine osvojili treće mesto na takmičenju horova u Beogradu. Očekujem i nov klavir u kabinetu.

Miloš Miličković (14) Bio sam odličan đak prošle godine, nadam se da ću biti i ove. Ovo nam je poslednja godina, nadam se da ćemo nastaviti druženje i kada završimo osnovnu školu. Ja bih voleo da dobijemo nov kabinet hemije, jer me taj predmet posebno interesuje, naročito zato što planiram da upišem medicinsku školu, nakon uspešno završenog VIII razreda.

Danilo Virijević (14) I expect to have better grades than I did last year. I hope that this year we will have more classrooms; that we will have a music cabinet where we could practice with our teacher, since last year we came third at a choir competition in Belgrade. I expect that we will have a new piano in the music cabinet.

Miloš Miličković (14) I had excellent grades last year; I hope to have the same this year. This is our last year, I hope we will keep our friendships going even after we complete primary school. I would like us to have a new chemistry lab because I am very interested in this particular subject as I plan to enrol into a medical high school after successfully passing Grade VIII.

budućnost ima mnogo, pre svega plan je da se ova škola renovira, jer je zgrada dosta stara, nije dugo vremena u nju ulagano, planirano je i da se uradi nova instalacija za parno grejanje, kao i fasada na školi, čime će ona dobiti novi sjaj. “Nemamo sve neophodne kabinete, ali smo u dobroj prici da to dobijemo. Lokalna samouprava i Privremeni organ grada, planiraju za ovu školsku godinu izradu idejnog plana za dogradnju škole Sveti Sava, tako da ćemo dobiti, na tri nivoa, po 130 kvadrata prostora. Planirano je i da se uradi jedna velika, tipska zbornica i još četiri tipske učionice, a onda bi na trećem spratu dobili i sedam, osam kabineta koji nam sada fale, a da bi naši učenici mogli da rade kabinetsku nastavu”, objašnjava direktor ove škole. U OŠ “Sveti Sava” funkcioniše Đački parlament, a deca su aktivno uključena u rukovođenje školom i imaju svoje predstavnike. Nedavno su se organizovali i sproveli nekoliko humanitarnih akcija, u cilju prikupljanja pomoći bolesnoj deci. Takođe su aktivni u organizaciji priredbi i predstava na temu vršnjačkog nasilja. Prema rečima direktora Milorada Jovanovića, magazin 4U se dosta čita u ovoj školi, a deci su posebno zanimljive muzičke strane,posteri i HiTech članci. On poručuje našim čitaocima da je osnovno obrazovanje najvažnija karika, da je to prvi stepenik za svako dete da se ono oformi, nauči najosnovnijim pojmovima i da spremno krene u jedan ozbiljniji zivot, punoletstvo, srednje obrazovanje i dalje školovanje na fakultetima. „Deci poručujem da pre svega budu dobri đaci, da budu pošteni i marljivi ljudi, jer je to jedini dobar put u ovom životu”, zaključuje na kraju razgovora za 4U Magazin, direktor OŠ „Sveti Sava“, Milorad Jovanović.

Kristijan Filipović (14) U ovoj školskoj godini očekujem mnogo bolje ocene i bolji prosek. Takođe želim da upišem medicinsku školu, pa se moram još više potruditi. Pored hemije volim i geografiju, volim da se bavim košarkom, pa od svega očekujem dosta napretka i novih znanja u ovoj školskoj godini. He added that the focus of the work in the organization is on those contents that encourage and develop interest, curiosity, independence and creative attitude of children outside the regular classes, because the students express their creativity, interests and abilities through various courses. The school has drama, literature and folklore course, but the Primary School “Sveti Sava” is still best known for its choir, which regularly participates in various competitions and has won numerous awards. According to the director of the school the choir was formed as a result of the need of talented pupils to participate in extracurricular activities and thus contribute to the development of musical culture in the city on the Ibar. The Director of the Primary School “Sveti Sava”, Milorad Jovanovic points out that he is satisfied with his students and the quality of education the school provides. “Children are generally good, of course there are sometimes sporadic problems, there is puberty and love and falling in love, but the process of teaching is on the level, as prescribed by law, and I really have no problem with my children,” says Jovanovic. The teaching process uses the latest modern technology, and this year the school will, thanks to good cooperation with the local government and the municipality of North Mitrovica, get twenty new computers and interactive whiteboards. Ja imam različita interesovanja, volim prirodne i društvene nauke, tako da se spremam da upišem Gimnaziju. U ovoj godini nadam se takođe druženju i lepim trenucima sa mojim prijateljima. Očekujem dobro druženje, kao i prošle godine, nadam se da se ništa neće promeniti u vezi toga, jer smo već dugo zajedno. Najviše volim muzičko i biologiju, pohađam i muzičku školu takođe, a nakon završetka ovog razreda, upisaću medicinsku. Sve u svemu, očekujem sve najbolje u novoj školskoj godini. Andrea Aksentijević (14) I have had very good grades up to now, I expect that this will remain so but there is always room for improvement. I expect good comradery, as it was last year. I really hope nothing will change in this regard since we have been friends for a long time. I like Music and Biology the most. I attend Music School as well, and after I complete this grade I will enrol into a Medical High School. All in all, I expect the best in the new school year.

KFOR POMAŽE ŠKOLAMA KOSOVA

okom poslednje dve nedelje maja meseca, KFOR je organizovao distribuciju donacija CIMIC-a (Civil Military Cooperation - Civilnovojne saradnje) za 15 različitih škola širom Kosova. Korom Gracia, menadžer CIMIC projekata u Generalštabu KFOR-a u Prištini, rekla je da je realizacija ovih projekata odobrena od strane komandanta KFOR-a u decembru prošle godine. Prema njenim rečima, lista škola koje su izabrane da primaju ove donacije je pripremljena od strane LMT-ja (Liaison Monitoring Teams – Ekipe za vezu i monitorisanje). “Ukupno smo potrošili 14,000.00 evra za ovaj projekat. Najpre je JEC (Joint Effort Centre – Centar za zajednički napor) pozvao LMT da predlože nekoliko škola kojima bi mogli pomoći u okviru ovog projekta.

Zatim je od svih predloga izabrano petnaest najboljih škola a koje smo mogli posetiti tokom dve nedelje. U okviru donacija bile su lopte za fudbal, košarku i odbojku, zatim sveske, školske tašne, školske table, u nekim slučajevima stolice i klupe, i tako dalje. Škole koje smo donirali su smeštene u nekoliko opština: Mitrovica, Vučitrn, Novo Brdo, Vitina, Dečane, Istok i Dragaš,” rekla je Gracia Korom. Naš tim je imao priliku da učestvuje u raspodeli ovih donacija u dve škole: Stručnoj srednjoj školi u Vitini i Stručnoj srednjoj ekonomskoj školi u Novom Brdu. Direktor škole u Novom Brdu, gdin. Sami Bunjaku je istakao da su od otvaranja škole 1. septembra 2008. godine, imali veoma dobru saradnju sa KFOR-om. Što se tiče opreme koja je donirana školi, direktor Bunjaku je napomenuo da je objekat škole koju on vodi skoro izgrađen, i zato im je veoma potrebna podrška sa upravo takvim nastavnim sredstvima. Zahvalan na ovoj akciju bio je i gdin. Adem Abazi, direktor za obrazovanje opštine Novo Brdo. “U ime opštine, škole i učenika zahvaljujemo vam za vašu pomoć. Naša opština je mala kada se uzme u obzir broj stanovnika i zato nam je budžet vrlo ograničen. Ovo utiče da naše investicione mogućnosti za potrošne materijale budu minimalne. Tako da, svaka pomoć je dobrodošla”, rekao je između ostalog, gospodin Abazi. Dobre reči zahvalnosti za ovu akciju imao je i direktor Stručne srednje škole u Vitini Nijazi Lutfiu. On je takođe istakao da škola koju on vodi ima ukupno 737 učenika, a samim tim i potreba za nastavnim materijalima a naročito sportskoj opremi je mnogo veća nego što škola ima mogućnost da investira. Pored toga, za gospodina Lutfiu, ova akcija ima veliki značaj jer pokazuje posvećenost KFOR-a da pomogne mladim ljudima na Kosovu, odnosno budućnost Kosova. Na kraju menadžer CIMIC projekata Gracia Korom, poručila je svim mladima na Kosovu da što više nauče i daju sve od sebe da budu pozitivni i srećni.

KFOR HELPS SCHOOLS IN KOSOVO

uring the last two weeks in May, KFOR organized the distribution of CIMIC (Civil Military Cooperation) donations in 15 various schools in Kosovo. Gracia Korom, CIMIC project manager at the KFOR Headquarters in Prishtina, said that these projects were approved by COMKFOR in December last year. According to her, the list of schools that were chosen to benefit from this donation was prepared by the LMTs (Liaison Monitoring Teams). “We have spent for this project € 14.000,00 in total. Initially JEC (Joint Efforts Centre) asked the LMTs to propose which schools could be assisted by this project. Then out of these proposals we chose fifteen of the most feasible that could be covered by us, and it is these schools we have been visiting during these two weeks. Within this project we have donated footballs, basketballs and volleyballs, then notebooks and backpacks, schools boards, and in some cases desks and chairs. The schools were located in various municipalities such as: Mitrovica, Vushtrrri/Vucitrn, Novobërd/Novo Brdo, Viti/ Vitina, Deçan/Decane, Istog and Dragash/ Dragas,” Gracia Korom added. The For You magazine team had the opportunity to participate in the distribution of these donations in two schools: Vocational School in Viti/Vitina and Economic Vocational School in Novobërd/Novo Brdo. The principal of the later Mr Sami Bunjaku, stated that since this school was first opened on 1st September 2008, they had a great working relationship with KFOR. In relation to the equipment that was donated to the school, principal Bunjaku emphasized that they have recently moved into a new building, and consequently they need to be supported with such teaching materials. This action was also appreciated by Mr Adem Abazi, director of the Novobrdo/Novo Brdo Municipal Directorate of Education. “On behalf of the municipality, the school and the students I thank you for your help. Our municipality is small as far as the number of our population is concerned thus our budget is very limited. Therefore our investing capacities in such consumption materials are minimal, so any help we get is more than

welcome,” Mr Abazi added. Mr Nijazi Lutfiu the principal of Vocational high School in Viti/Vitina was pleased with this action as well. He added that his school has 737 students; consequently their need for such materials and sports requisites in particular is much higher than the school can afford. According to Mr Lutfiu this action has another important meaning, because it demonstrated KFORs dedication to help the youth in Kosovo that is the future of Kosovo. In the end the CIMIC project manager Gracia Korom called all the youth in Kosovo to learn as much as they can and do their best to lead a positive and healthy life.

Svojim temperamentom, dobrom energijom, a pre svega odličnom muzikom Orthodox Celts– i nikoga ne ostavljaju ravnodušnim. Ovaj neverovatan bend ima fanove koji ih prate po nastupima u zemlji, a sve više i u svetu, u Italiji gde su nedavno nastupali bili su iznenađeni da imaju dva fan kluba, u Firenci i Sijeni. Sve posle toga smo potrošili na promenu koncepta, na dosnimavanje nekih stvari koje smo u međuvremenu dopisali, na gomilu nekih instrumentala, koji će igrati ulogu vezivnog tkiva između pesama i na kraju ćemo dobiti jedan konceptualan album, što nam nije bila namera u početku, ali zato se sve ovo i previše oteglo. Činjenica je smo prilicno vremena potrošili, samo se nadam da će vredeti”, kaže

Ono što je zanimljivo je da ovaj jedinstveni bend koji već preko 20 godina promoviše irsku folk muziku i keltski rok ne samo da nikada nije nastupao u Irskoj, već tamo nikada nije bio niti jedan član benda. “U Irskoj smo slušani, ali ne idemo nikad. Niko od nas nije bio u Irskoj, čak ni turistički. Ta želja da se svira u Irskoj postoji, ali koliko god je ona bila onako mladalački jaka na početku, toliko sad više nije imperativ. Imali smo mi prilike da sviramo sa Ircima i sa velikim zvezdama i sa onim malo manjim, rekao bih sa muzikantima, ali u onom najpozitivnijem smislu, koji stvarno jedu svoje instrumente. Bili smo tu negde “egal”, nismo uopšte mnogo zaostajali, ako smo i uopšte zaostajali, tako da ja verujem da bismo mi na Ostrvu privukli pažnju, što se tice koncerata. A da smo slusani jesmo i to stoji”, rekao je Aca. Na kraju razgovora za Magazin 4U, Aca Seltik kaže da u svom životu ništa ne bi menjao, jer to onda ne bi bilo to. “ Svako vreme je savršeno, samo treba voleti to sto imaš i ne biti alav. he Serbian performers of traditional Irish music mixed with rock and punk, the “Orthodox Celts”, were formed in 1992 and for nearly a quarter of a century they have captured audiences with their perfomances. With their temperament, good energy, and above all, great music, the Orthodox Celts leave no one indifferent. This incredible band has fans who follow them during their performances in the country, and ever so more throughout the world. During their recent concert in Italy, they were surprised to find out that they have two fan clubs, one in Florence and another in Siena. Apart from their traditional Saint Patrick’s Day concerts in March, the Orthodox Celts had a very busy schedule of gigs this year. We spoke with the band’s frontman Aleksandar Petrovic, known as Aca Celtic, after their highly visited concert held in the Soho Cafe in Northern Mitrovica, which was part of this year’s NorthCity Jazz and Blues Festival. According to Aca Celtic, the lovers of sound and good vibrations produced by this group will be delight to know that a new album will be released by “the end of the summer”, after a nearly decade-long break. MISIJA OEBS-a NA KOSOVU POMAŽE MLADIMA U IZGRADNJI NOVINARSKE KARIJERE

Tokom programa, koji je vodio Davor Glavaš, renomirani novinar i predavač na Univerzitetu u Zagrebu, učesnici su sticali praktična znanja u izveštavanju, veštini pisanja i korišćenju društvenih medija i novih tehnologija, kao što su blogovi i internet portali. Džemal Čalaković, savetnik za medije u OEBS-u, kaže da je primarni razlog organizovanja ove škole bio taj da se novinarstvo kao profesija približi mladim ljudima i da oni steknu nova iskustva i veštine ukoliko odluče da se bave ovom profesijom. Namera im je i da se mladi polaznici ove škole usavrše, kako u snalaženju sa rečima i informacijama, tako i u mogućnostima koje pružaju nove tehnologije. “Želeli smo da u okviru novinarske škole pored starijih, uključimo i mlađe grupe, jer moderno novinarstvo i nove tehnologije zahtevaju i nove veštine. Ne želimo da se fokusiramo samo na klasično, profesionalno novinarstvo, već i na nove tehnologije, kao što su blog, twitter, društvene mreže”, objašnjava Čalaković. Novinarom se ne postaje slučajno, novinarstvo je nešto što svesno odaberemo kao svoj životni poziv, a ono inicijalno što svaki novinar mora imati je znatiželja, “ukoliko nje nema, onda odaberite drugi posao!”, kazao je između ostalog za For You magazin poznati hrvatski novinar i predavač u OEBSovoj školi novinarstva, Davor Glavaš. On dodaje da je veoma zadovoljan sa polaznicima škole, za koje kaže da su aktivni u diskusijama i temama koje se obrađuju, kao i da ovi mladi ljudi, budući novinari, pokazuju dosta želje da saznaju nešto novo i drugačije od onog što imaju prilike svakodnevno videti u medijskom prostoru koji ih okružuje. Komentarišući medijske sadržaje na Kosovu, Glavaš kaže da bi oni trebali više biti okrenuti kulturnim sadržajima, jer je upravo kultura najbolji agens koji može pomoći u preovladavanju svih različitosti, kao i da kultura predstavlja prostor u okviru kojeg se može realizovati sve ono zajedničko što svi ljudi imaju. Studentkinja novinarstva i komunikologije i jedna od polaznica OEBS-ove škole novinarstva Milica Vučković istakla je da su predavanja odlična, da su naučili dosta o načinu pisanja vesti, kao i tome kako se treba ponašati u različitim situacijama. Ona vidi sebe jednog dana kao uspešnu novinarku, jer novinarstvo za nju predstavlja način života i profesija je u kojoj se pojedinac konstantno uči i obrazuje. “Posebno mi se dopada to što predavanja nisu usko vezana samo za oblast novinarstva, učimo dosta i iz drugih nauka poput psihologije, komunikologije, a sve će mi to biti neophodno jednog dana, kada se budem

bavila istraživačkim novinarstvom, što mi je najveća želja”, kazala je Milica. Milan Dubljanin studira informatiku i još jedan je od polaznika ove škole, za koju kaže da predstavlja novo iskustvo za njega. “Želim da naučim nešto novo, ovde sam dosta toga saznao, a možda i jednog dana od mene bude dobar novinar, ako odlučim da se bavim time u životu”, rekao je Milan. Christopher Tuetsch, direktor odeljenja za demokratizaciju, pri Misiji OEBS-a na Kosovu smatra da je za demokratska društva ključno da imaju dobro obrazovane novinare, koji su u stanju da izveštavaju na objektivan i nezavisan način, kao i na osnovu činjenica. On naglašava i da je važno pružiti ambicioznim mladim ljudima prilike da grade karijeru u novinarstvu. „Ova aktivnost Misije OEBS-a ima za cilj da pomogne medijskim kućama na severu Kosova da osnaže svoje ljudske resurse i unaprede pluralizam informisanja ponuđen javnosti”, zaključio je Christopher Tuetsch. Nakon uspešnog završetka programa ove OEBSove škole novinarstva, biće izabrana četiri najbolja kandidata, koji će učestvovati u šestomesečnom programu stažiranja koji će se realizovati zajedno sa četiri medijske kuće na severu Kosova: Televizijom Mir, Radiom Kontakt Plus, Radiom Kosovska Mitrovica i internet portalom KoSSev.

OSCE MISSION IN KOSOVO HELPS YOUNG PEOPLE TO BUILD CAREERS IN JOURNALISM

n order to contribute to media pluralism in Kosovo, the OSCE mission organized recently a school of journalism in Northern Mitrovica for twenty young people, university and high school students in northern Kosovo. During the program led by Mr. Davor Glavas, a renowned journalist and lecturer at the University of Zagreb, the participants gained practical skills in reporting, writing and the use of social media and new technologies, such as blogs and Internet portals. Mr. Dzemal Calakovic, a media advisor to the OSCE, said the primary reason for organizing this school was to bring journalism as a profession closer to young people, so that they gain new experiences and skills if they decide to engage in this profession. Their intention was that the young students of this school improve their skills both in coping with words

and information, and through the opportunities offered by new technologies. “We want to introduce journalism to younger groups in the school, as well the older students, since modern journalism and new technologies require new skills. We do not want to focus only on the classic, professional journalism, but also on new technologies, such as blog, twitter, social networks,” Calakovic explains. One does not become a journalist by accident; journalism is something that we consciously choose as our life’s calling, and what every journalist must have initially is curiosity, “if there is no curiosity, choose another job!” said among other things for the magazine For You the renown Croatian journalist and lecturer at the OSCE School of Journalism, Davor Glavas. He added that he was very pleased with the students of the school, who he said were active in discussions and topics addressed, and that these young people, as journalists, showed a lot of desire to learn something new and different from what they have the opportunity to see in an everyday media landscape that surrounds them. The student of journalism and communications and one of the participants of the OSCE School of journalism Ms. Milica Vuckovic said that the lectures are excellent, that they have learned a lot about how to write news, as well as how to behave in different situations. She sees herself as a successful journalist someday, because journalism is for her a way of life and a profession in which an individual constantly learns and gets educated. “I especially like the fact that lectures are not closely related only to the field of journalism, we learn a lot from other sciences such as psychology, communication, and it will all be essential one day when I am engaged in investigative journalism, which is my greatest wish,” Milica said. Another student of the school was Mr. Milan Dubljanin who studies Computer Science and says this is a new experience for him. “I want to learn something new, and here I’ve learned a lot, and if I decide to do that in my life I might be a good journalist someday,” said Milan. Christopher Tuetsch, Director of Democratization Department in the OSCE Mission in Kosovo considers that it is crucial for a democratic society to have welleducated journalists who are able to report in an objective and independent manner, as well as based on facts. He emphasized that it is important to provide young ambitious people with the opportunity to build a career in journalism. “This activity of the OSCE Mission aims to help media companies in the north of Kosovo to strengthen their human resources and promote pluralism of information offered to the public,” concluded Christopher Tuetsch. erbian women’s volleyball players impressed last year when they won second place at the World Cup in Japan, behind China and in their first attempt managed to book their ticket to Rio. Since then, every day they properly planned how to reach the top three. Despite their failure to get the brightest shining medal at the Olympics, they did get silver, and proved that even this medal is a huge success, because with their undisputable quality, fighting spirit and team unity they did qualify for the final. This was the first ever Olympic medal in women’s volleyball for Serbia. In Beijing in 2008, Maja Ognjenovic and friends bowed out at the quarterfinals, and in London in 2012 they played in compulsory composition and came in 12th. Last year, Maja captained

the Serbian women’s volleyball team to the silver medal at the World Cup and bronze medal at the European Championship. After these successes their next target was getting an Olympic medal in Rio de Janeiro and she did not give up from it, because, according to her, she believes in her teammates and herself. PRIPADNICI KFOR-a URUČILI UNIFORME VATROGASNOJ STANICI U ZUBINOM POTOKU

Iako se požari najčešće dešavaju leti, opasnost je prisutna tokom svih perioda u godini, a vatrogasci svakodnevno po nepristupačnim terenima, na gašenju požara rade i po 18 sati dnevno. U gašenju požara na Kosovu, nesebično im pomažu i vojnici KFOR-a, a osim u konkretnim akcijama, oni pomoć vatrogascima pružaju i u vidu različite opreme. Tako su pripadnici KFOR-a nedavno uručili donaciju od više desetina uniformi službenicima Vatrogasne stanice u Zubinom Potoku. Prema rečima pukovnika Reto U. Fluehmann-a iz JRD Sever, ideja o ovoj donaciji potekla je na inicijativu potpukovnika Georg Strohmeier-a iz Nemačke, koji je nakon završetka svoje misije u KFOR-u, odlučio da pomogne Vatrogasnoj stanici u Zubinom Potoku i za njih prikupio pomoć u vidu uniformi. Fluehmann dodaje da će KFOR nastaviti da pomaže vatrogascima, s obzirom da oni svoje svakodnevne dužnosti obavljaju u neodgovarajućim uslovima. “Najčešće se dešavaju požari u šumama, KFOR asistira u tim situacijama, takođe pomažemo i kada se dogode saobraćajne nezgode. Kaže i da im je svaka pomoć dobrodošla jer su oni mala vatrogasna jedinica sačinjena od 32 vatrogasca, koji rade u četiri smene, neprekidno 24 sata. Iako nemaju puno vatrogasaca u brigadi, oni pokrivaju veliku teritoriju ove opštine, na kojoj su požari česti, posebno leti, tako da im je svaka pomoć bitna, naročito u udaljenim selima, koja su pretežno naseljena staračkim domaćinstvima. „U prethodnom periodu KFOR nam je dosta pritekao u pomoć, imali smo solidnu i korektnu saradnju, više puta su nam pomagali helikopterima u gašenju požara”, objašnjava Božović. Prema njegovim rečima, svaka pomoć maloj vatrogasnoj jedinici je dobrodošla, jer je oprema izuzetno skupa, a stanici u Zubinom Potoku je neophodno novo vozilo i kompletna zaštitna oprema za vatrogasce. Goran Vučenić, vatrogasacvozač u jedinici ističe da je Zubin Potok teritorijalno prostrana opština, a on i njegove kolege pokrivaju teren od 232

km2, sa ukupno 62 naseljena mesta. „Oprema koju imamo je neadekvatna za rad koji obavljamo. Puno nam znače ove uniforme koje smo dobili od KFOR-a, zaštitnih uniformi gotovo da i nemamo, a opština Zubin Potok je prilično siromašna, nije finansijski jaka, pa materijalno ne može puno da nam pomogne“, objašnjava Vučenić. Na kraju posete ovoj vatrogasnoj stanici saznajemo generalni podatak da je čak u 80 % slučajeva, osnovni uzrok izazivanja požara ljudski faktor, odnosno nemar i nepažnja. U želji

da ovog proleća i leta bude što manje požara na Kosovu, poručujemo da pažljivim i odgovornim ponašanjem, kao pojedinci, učinimo sve da do požara uopšte i dođe.

KFOR MEMBERS DONATE UNIFORMS TO THE ZUBIN POTOK FIRE STATION

Although fires occur mostly in the summer, there is a risk of fires throughout the year; firefighters have to put out fires daily in inaccessible areas, working up to 18 hours per day. specific firefighting operations, they also assist the firefighters by donating

various kinds of equipment to them. KFOR members recently donated tens of uniforms to the officials of the Fire Station in Zubin Potok. According to Colonel Reto U Fluehmann from JRD-N, the initiative behind this donation originated from Lieutenant Colonel Georg Strohmeier from Germany, who after completing his mission in KFOR decided to help the Zubin Potok Fire Station and collected uniforms for them. Fluehmann added that KFOR will continue helping the firefighters since they are carrying out their daily tasks under inadequate conditions. “Fires most often occur in forest, KFOR assists in these cases, and we also assist when traffic accidents occur. KFOR members assisted the local population in the field 26 times during the last month alone,” said Col. Fluehmann. The Zubin Potok Fire Brigade Chief, Sasa Bozovic, thanked the KFOR soldiers on the aid and added that the uniforms will be of great use in future operations, given that the current equipment the Zubin Potok Fire Station is quite outdated. He said that any form of aid is very welcome since they are a small firefighting unit, made up of 32 firefighters, who work in four shifts, continuously 24 hours a day. Although they do not have many firefighters, they cover the whole territory of this municipality, where fires often occur, especially during the summer. Help is needed especially in the far away villages which consist mostly of elderly homesteads. “In the previous period, KFOR has helped us a lot, we had solid and correct cooperation, on a number of occasions they used helicopters to put out fires”, Mr. Bozovic explained. According to him, any form of aid to this small fire station is welcome since equipment is very expensive and the Zubin Potok Fire Station needs a new vehicle and full protective gear for the firefighters. Mr. Goran Vucenic, a firefighterdriver in this unit, pointed out that Zubin Potok covers a wide area; he and his colleagues cover an area of 232km2, with 62 settlements. “The equipment we have is not adequate for us to do our work. These uniforms we received from KFOR mean a lot to us, we virtually do not have protective uniforms and the Zubin Potok Municipality is quite poor and is not able to financially help us much”, Vucenic explained. At the end of our visit to the fire station, we find out that in general 80% of fires are caused by the human factor i.e. lack of care and attention. Hoping that there will be the least possible number of fires in Kosovo in the future, we send out the message that we all, as individuals, must be as careful and as attentive as possible in order to avoid fires in the first place.
