Every Day Is a New Beginning Every day of your life is a new beginning. Regard every day as the beginning of your new, better, and happier life. Start every day of the year with feelings of happiness and with the anticipation that great and wonderful things are going to happen. You are not cheating yourself, because this attitude, if you persevere with it, would make you a more positive and happy person. Every day, restate your goals and your decisions for your new, happy and successful life. At the same time, be open to new ideas and opportunities, and for ways to achieve your goals. If you look at each day as new beginning, you will feel happier, more energetic and more motivated. There are no limitations on making new decisions and forming new goals, and there are no limitations on when to begin doing new things. Every day is suitable for making a resolution and a new beginning. It is simple and easy to make New Year Resolutions, or any other decision at any other time of the year. Often, they are made in response to some emotion. However, people quite soon, lose the motivation and enthusiasm, and continue living the same kind of life, without doing anything to improve them. You need to repeat your resolutions every day, with belief and faith, and be willing to do whatever it needs to accomplish them, not just repeat the words with your lips. You need to keep expecting success, happiness and health, no matter in what circumstances you live. This attitude would trigger your subconscious mind to help you and to motivate you. You might wish there was some kind of magic to carry out your decisions, promises and goals. There is, and it is made of motivation, persistence, willpower and self-discipline. These are the powers that would change your life and make them interesting, happy and fulfilling. “Every day is a new beginning. Treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be.” Happy New Year 2018 Leonora

Bajrami Perparim (14) It will probably depend on the mood when it comes to which option I will choose out of these two. Plans for me are as usual, to go out with my friends and have a good time. Regarding these two options, I would rather opt for movies. I love science fiction. Happy New Year everyone!!!
Lazar Živković (14) During the New Year’s holidays, there is usually a lot of snow, so we ski and hang out together. At this time, I prefer listening to music, because it has a positive effect on my mood. I will welcome this New Year with some good pop music. I love movies, especially horror; something can be scary during the holidays, why not?
Ksenija Joksimović (14) I plan to welcome New Year with my family. I love the music, so I will also include it in this choice. I mostly listen to foreign music, and I will greet New Year with the music of Ariana Grande. New Year’s wish is that one day I attend her concert.

KAKO PROVODITE NOVOGODIŠNJE PRAZNIKE: MUZIKA ILI FILMOVI?

PRIMARY SCHOOL “VUK KARADZIC” - LEPINA
T
he Primary School “Vuk Karadzic” in Lepina has existed since 1927 and will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary. In addition to the main primary school, which is located in this place, it also has branches in the villages of Batuse and Radevo. The school is attended by 123 pupils, who are assigned to classes from the first to the eighth grade. Speaking for our magazine, Director of Primary School “Vuk Karadzic” Zorica Talic said that a special feature of the school in Radevo was that children of Serbian and Albanian nationality, from first to fourth grade, attend it together. They share the space, classrooms, teachers’ room and sports hall. The Vuk Karadzic Primary School in Lepina belongs to the municipality of Gracanica, and it shares the space with six other institutions, because the municipality, Telekom, and the Secondary Agricultural School are located in the same building. Director Zorica Talic emphasizes that the teaching staff of this school is highly skilled. It consists of 27 educational workers, who are all licensed, young and dedicated to working with their students. Certified teaching methods, good organization of work and rich pedagogical heritage influence the students of this school to go to competitions in all subjects, and for the time being, the best results and the most competitions have been won in the subject of history. According to her, special attention is paid to extracurricular activities as this is wher students have more freedom to express their talents and creativity. The school has an active music and art section, and when it comes to sports, volleyball and football are practiced.
Questionnaire
English and Russian language are taught in this school. Director Talic notes that Primary School “Vuk Karadzic” at the moment lacks the most practical teaching because the school has no physics, biology nor the highly needed chemistry laboratory. The modernization of the teaching process and the equipment of the foregoing laboratories are basic tasks that they plan to achieve in the future. They also plan to provide guidance and continually train their professional and teaching staff through the use of information technology in the teaching process. Speaking about the importance of the primary education, the director of the school emphasized the necessity of reading books since the very beginning of schooling. “My message to the kids is to read as much as possible, not just the school reading material and the books included in the school’s program, but also everything else that is suitable to their age. Reading should be given an imperative; children must be literate and it is very important that they do not rely solely on the Internet and social networks, which are today given too much importance,” said Talic. She added that the primary education is the foundation of the future of every child and that without basic education they cannot achieve anything. This is the main reason why it is necessary to invest more in it, she said. “Without a good and quality primary education, there is simply no success in the future,” concluded the Director of Primary School “Vuk Karadzic”. She emphasized that she was very proud of her pupils because there was no peer violence, children are being raised well at home, and there have never been any incidents at the school. According to her, the school has good cooperation with KFOR members, who regularly visit them. At the end of the conversation, Director Talic pointed out that Magazin 4U was widely read among school students and that it was used quite a lot in English language teaching. At the same time, she took the opportunity to congratulate all readers and students on the upcoming New Year and Christmas holidays!
Milutin Slavić (13) HOW DO YOU SPEND THE NEW godinu i YEAR HOLIDAYS: MUSIC OR FILMS?
Marija Veličković (14) In the last couple of years, I’ve been spending time with friends, listening to music and having fun. I prefer music and I would always have to stand for it. I play the guitar, so this choice of mine is quite normal, because it attracts and relaxes me the most. I mostly listen to the old, domestic rock.
Tamara (14) Last year, I welcomed New Year with my family and friends. I still do not know how to spend New Year holidays, but of course I know that I prefer music. The period of New Year’s holidays is my time to listen to music, because it best reflects the atmosphere of happiness and good mood.
praznike provodim uglavnom sa porodicom, uz muziku i filmove. Ipak više volim da ovo vreme provodim uz dobru muziku, jer me muzika nekako više opušta nego filmovi. Milutin Slavić (13) I spend the New Year and Season Holidays mostly with my family, with music and movies. However, I prefer to spend time with good music, because music makes me feel more relaxed than movies. At the time of New Year’s holidays I listen to pop and rock music and I spend a good time with my friends.

ZNAČAJ MULTIETNIČKIH KAMPOVA
R

THE IMPORTANCE OF MULTIETHNIC CAMPS
D
eveloping dialogue and mutual tolerance among young people, nonformal education and general improvement of the quality of life for all members of society are certainly some of the reasons why various youth camps are often organized and implemented in Kosovo. These camps are mostly multiethnic, aiming to point out the negative psychological, social and cultural consequences of various problems in society, as well as to support the development of a sustainable democratic civil sector. Magazine For You recently had the opportunity to attend the “Youth Camp for a Better Future”, where we talked with the participants directly about the activities that were being carried out in it. This three-day camp was held in Prevalac, in the municipality of Prizren, and it gathered 54 participants from the Albanian, Serb and Bosnian communities from northern Kosovo, aged 16-24. The camp was organized in order to teach young people the skills of advocacy and negotiation, as well as the importance of dialogue and mutual understanding. Promoting multi-ethnic cooperation and communication among young people coming from different communities were also some of the goals for which this camp was held. One of the participants
in the camp, Tajan Kyqyk, from the “Bosnjacka Mahala” neighborhood in Mitrovica, says that he really enjoyed being part of this camp: “What I liked most was that I had the opportunity to meet young people from the Serbian community. We had the opportunity to communicate, to get to know each other better and I think that we have fulfilled our goals,” says Tajan. In addition to educational content, participants of this camp had the opportunity to participate in recreational activities, playing billiard, table tennis as well as various quizzes that helped them to get to know each other and continue their friendships after this seminar. A representative from the Serbian community, Zvezdana Nesić, points out that these types of camps are important because
they contribute in freeing the young people from all prejudices because young people learn how to solve problems, both at the individual level and in the local community. “Through various quizzes, we motivated young people to learn to work in a team, to act as one. They have learned that they can publicly negotiate problems on behalf of their own or group. We have dealt with and talked about the obstacles that they may encounter when advocating and negotiating, in order to transfer their experience in practice. This is a great success for us, “she said. Similarly Denis Çaushi from the “Bosnjacka Mahala” neighborhood says that camps like this represent a very good experience for the participants. “The presence of the three communities from the north of Kosovo, Serbs, Albanians and Bosnians gives us a clear message that there is a will to live and work together. We can also use these lectures and what we have learned here to improve the life of our communities” Çaushi added. The organization of the Youth Camp for Better Future was assisted by the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, with the help of the Government of Norway, which has been funding activities of this type for several years in a row now. Representatives of these organizations say that multiethnic camps are an excellent opportunity for the young people from different communities to get to know and understand each other and to learn teamwork.

ŠON MENDEZ - “NIŠTA ME NE SPUTAVA”
Singl “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” objavljen je 20. aprila 2017, i uvršten u njegovo “Illuminate” deluks izdanje. Takav način razmišljanja me u potpunosti smiruje.
Osim

Veoma veoma visok. Sa veoma dugim rukama i dugačkim vratom. Možda bih bio jedan od najviših vanzemaljaca. I bio bih ljigav vanzemaljac.
Šta misliš da se dešava nakon smrti? Ne znam, niti me zanima.

SHAWN MENDES - “THERE’S NOTHING HOLDIN’ ME BACK”
S
hawn Mendes found fame when his six-second cover versions of Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber and One Direction racked up hundreds of millions of views on the now-defunct Vine. He turned social media ubiquity into realworld success with 2015 debut ‘Handwritten’ and last year’s ‘Illuminate’. He released the single “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” on April 20th, 2017, included on his ‘Illuminate’ deluxe edition. The song was Mendes’ third single to reach the top 10 and also reached number one on the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart. In August 2017, he became the first artist under 20 to have 3 number 1 songs on Billboard’s Adult Pop Songs Chart. Shawn, what do you do if you’re feeling a bit down, to help you get back to that place where there’s nothin’ holding you back?
When I’m home sick or tired because I’ve been on the road for a long time - which is where I am now - I remember how much I believe that people were meant to do certain things. So sometimes, when I feel like I can’t do something, I end up having my best day and making my best work. I’m like, “Come on Shawn, this is what you are meant to do!” Other than that, perspective is the best thing in the world. I’ve just begun telling myself, live day-by-day, and when things get really hard, live hour-by-hour. It completely calms me down. When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
ability to overthink everything and see everyone’s perspective. I can’t walk into the room and only be me; I have to think as though I’m everyone in the room.
I wanted to be an actor, like, so so bad. I took acting classes, I auditioned for Disney, and then I realised how nervous I got with remembering lines. Then music kind of fell upon me when I was around 13. I started watching YouTube videos and singing and it became something that I was obsessed with. Next thing I know, I was fully in it. What would you most like to change about the world? I think what I’d like to most change about the world is both a good and bad thing. I wish people would care less, but also care more. Do you know what I mean? People care too much about the wrong things. If people were a little more lighthearted and cared about the right things, then it would all be a bit nicer. And what would you change about yourself? Same thing again. I think the thing I’d like to change the most about me is maybe the best thing about me. And that’s my
Do you meditate? I’ve tried a lot, but I’m very logical so I think that having someone break things down and talk me through steps, really lay things out on the table for me, that calms me down. But meditating and leaving it all behind is very hard for me. What do you think you would look like if you were an alien? I think I would be massively tall. Like, so tall. With really long arms and a long neck. Maybe I’d be one of the tallest aliens. Like a slithery alien. What do you talk about when you get your hair cut? The person that’s cutting my hair. I always ask questions about them and their family. I usually get it cut every three weeks, and this is the longest that it’s been in like years. I’m debating on whether I want to cut it or not. What do you think happens when you die? I don’t know, nor do I care. I like that life is a lot more important than the afterlife… whatever happens, we’re going to be fine.
A real good bird, like a hawk or something. It would suck to come back as a seagull. What is your biggest wish right now? I don’t want my music to play for a few months and then go away forever. And not only that, I want to do incredible things that make a difference too. I think it’s not only about the music you release, it’s about the things you do while you’re making the music. Because I don’t think it’s common for people to have an opportunity to do that, and I have an opportunity to leave a long-lasting impression on millions of people and it would just be silly for me not to. Music is bigger than me, and I’m going to keep doing it because of that reason.” (Source: https://i-d.vice.com)
What if you got reincarnated? I would love to be reincarnated as a bird, so I could fly. What kind of bird?

DECA PORUČUJU: MEĐU NAMA NEMA RAZLIKE!
U

CHILDREN APPEAL: THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US!
R
adio KFOR in cooperation with Bear Sanctuary in Pristina organized a visit to the “Four paws” bear shelter near Badovac Lake for some thirty children from the Serbian and Albanian communities aged between 10 to 12 years and their parents and teachers. After seeing the brown bears, the children took part in a workshop where they discussed about nature, environment, animals and education and they also had the opportunity to finish the day that they spent in nature by drawing. In a conversation with our magazine, they stressed that it is necessary to organize such social gatherings more often. Twelve-year-old Tea Bajrami, said that children should not be differentiated. “It is great, I had the opportunity to see the bears, I have been here before, we had a great time, we learned how the bears got here, we had a
great time with our Serbian friends, and they are kind. My message is that no differences should be made between children because of their nationality or language.” Talic Tomislav is a Geography Professor in Primary School “Vuk Karadzic” in Lepina. For Magazine For You he said that they spent this day in extraordinary mood and the children also learned a lot about nature and animals. He emphasized that there were no noticeable differences among the children and one could not tell which community they were from. “It is important that children are friends, because for them it really does not matter who is a Serb, and who is an Albanian”, said Tomislav. This was the first time that eleven-year-old Marijana Simic got to visit this bear shelter. She was fascinated by the various facts she learned about black bears, as well as socializing with peers from the Albanian community. “It was fun for us, we even had a quiz, we competed in knowledge, and my message is that I would like to always have such great time and fun,” said Marijana. Her friend Nemanja Milovanovic shared her opinion. He said that he was most interested in socializing with friends. He does hope that this kind of events will be organized as often as possible. “It was great for me today, I learned a lot about bears, and I would like to continue our friendship in the future in the same manner as it is today.” Thirteen-year-old Agim Baruti from Pristina said he learned a lot about environment and bears, such as how long they can live, how they live, how much food they can eat before getting into hibernation or winter sleep. “It really was nice for all of us; we even had the opportunity to draw the most interesting things. We had a good time with friends from the Serbian school in Lepina, and that was very interesting for me,” Agim said. During a visit to the Bear Sanctuary, Major-General Giovanni Fungo, upon addressing the children, pointed out that through cooperation and efforts at various levels of society, everyone will be able to overcome differences and he encouraged all the young people to build a better future for all the people in Kosovo. The hosts of this event, representatives of “The Four Paws” association, pointed out that children are “part of us and we have to give them an example” on how to treat both people and animals. This sanctuary is one of the ten bear shelters in Europe and is located next to Badovac Lake, in the village of Mramor and there are currently 19 bears living there.

Životinjska staništa URBANE SREDINE Kratak opis: Gradovi su prirodna područja pretvorili u prometne urbane centre, stvarajući na taj način mnoštvo novih vrsta staništa za životinje, kako unutar samih gradskih centara tako i izvan njih. Rasprostranjenost: Širom sveta Tipovi: Unutrašnji, spoljašnji Prosečne padavine (godišnje): 250mm - 1500mm Temperatura: -20 do 45 stepeni Celzijusa Biljne vrste: Trava, drveće, grmlje Životinje unutar urbanih staništa: Gušteri, miševi, insekti Životinje izvan urbanih staništa: Lisice, pacovi, rakuni
D

(Izvor: https://a-z-animals.com)

T
oday, nearly half of the world’s population lives in one of the many cities found around the world. This rapid flock to urban living has increased the size of cities and has therefore had an enormous impact on large areas of land around the world. There are countless places in cities for animals to make their homes in, and more and more animals are attracted into the cities because of the large amounts of waste. Cities have completely altered the food chains of a number of different species, and rats particularly are growing dramatically in size due to all of the chemicals that they are consuming. Although there are no
natural habitats in urban areas, artificial ones can be found all over the world in the form of parks and areas close to water. Many insects inhabit areas throughout towns and cities, and some insects such as termites, have been known to cause severe structural damage to buildings. Animals create their homes both inside urban habitats and outside urban habitats. Small animals including insects, small rodents and reptiles make their nests inside buildings in small gaps and crevices, where they can be sheltered from predators and the elements. Large animal species such as foxes and rats can be found scurrying in the streets and gardens, hunting for food to eat. There are many natural areas in cities such as parks, lakes and rivers which attract even more animal species to live an urban lifestyle. Birds such as pigeons flock in their hundreds into city centres to snack on the food that is dropped in the streets and aquatic birds such as swans, geese and ducks can be found on the water. Rats are able to get into places where predators like cats and foxes cannot go. Rats thrive in urban areas mainly due to the enormous quantity of wasted food. One of the biggest hazards to animals living in urban habitats is the threat of traffic and many are often run-over. There are numerous factors for animals trying to survive in the city to contend with along with traffic, which are pollution, noise, bright lighting and the lack of space all takes it’s on a number of species and deters many more from moving into the city. STEFAN KARI V
P
Rane godine i obrazovanje

Early Years and Education
W
ardell Stephen Curry II was born on March 14, 1988, in Akron, Ohio, but mainly grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. The oldest son of former NBA player Dell Curry, the junior Curry learned the fundamentals of basketball by watching and practicing with his father. However, it was mom Sonya, a former Division I volleyball star, who instilled the discipline to train in her son while Dell Sr. was with his team on road trips.

Personal Life

urry has two siblings: Brother Seth also went on to a career in professional basketball after starring at Duke University, and sister Sydel became a volleyball player at Elon University. Curry married his college sweetheart, Ayesha, in July 2011. One year later they had their first child, a daughter named Riley. Since his time as a student at Davidson, Curry has been involved with the United Nations “Foundation’s Nothing But Nets” campaign, which distributes insecticide-treated mosquito nets across Africa to help combat malaria. The NBA star also raises resources for schools through the Stephen Curry Foundation and annually hosts a pair of charity golf events.
Quick Facts
NBA Stardom
D
espite his slight frame and boyish looks, Curry proved more than capable of handling the NBA opposition with his shooting and ball-handling abilities. After earning his first All-Star nod in 2014, Curry reached new levels of performance and popularity the following season. He helped the Warriors knock off LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, giving the team its first championship since 1975. For an encore, Curry helped the Warriors to 24 consecutive wins out of the starting gate in 2015-16, a torrid pace that propelled the team to an NBA-record 73 wins. The superstar guard again demonstrated his unparalleled skills throughout the season, finishing with an astounding 402 three-pointers and leaguehigh 30.1 points per game. However, his quest for a second straight title fell just short when a long season came to a close with a 93-89 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.
Quotes
“Make it work no matter what you have to work with – that’s something that stuck with me very early on as a point guard.
In 2017, Curry helped lead the Warriors to the finals for the third year in a row, facing off again against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. In game five, Curry scored 34 points and teammate Kevin Durant added another 39 points in a 129-120 victory, the Warriors second NBA championship in two years. The victory was sweet and long awaited for Curry. After the Warriors’ 2016 loss, he had asked a friend to save a cigar for him so he could smoke it when the team won back the title. Curry lit up his cigar live on NBA TV. “I’ve been waiting a whole year to smoke this,” Curry said.

ULOGA MLADIH U IDENTIFIKACIJI I SPREČAVANJU RADIKALIZMA I NASILNOG EKSTREMIZMA KOJI VODE KA TERORIZMU
S

THE ROLE OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN IDENTIFYING AND PREVENTING RADICALISM AND VIOLENT EXTREMISM LEADING TO TERRORISM
W
ith the advancement and dynamism of people’s lives around the world, personal and social needs in the field of protection and security, nowadays, have increased and changed tremendously. The changing and advancement of the ways crime is committed and its tendencies, the changing of the methods and dynamics of the movement of people and goods, the rapid advancement and the great use of technology, the difficulties of the past in terms of community security require a pragmatic approach by law enforcement agencies. In this spirit, Kosovo Police through the Community Police and Prevention Directorate with the financial support from UNDP/ KSSP/PVE (UNDP/Kosovo Safety & Security Project/Preventing Violent Extremism) organized a three-day youth camp (24-26.10.2017 ) for about 65 students and educational staff from 5 schools as well as representatives of civil society. Participants in this youth camp were from EJHS “Qamil Batalli” and EJHS “Pavarësia” from Prishtina, SHS “Zenel Hajdini” from Gjilan, SHS “Brothers Frashëri” from Deçan and SHS “Kuvendi i Arbërit” from Ferizaj. Regarding the organization of
this camp, Mentor Cakolli Kosovo Police Officer for the prevention of juvenile crime and delinquency, emphasized that its purpose was to raise the students’ awareness on their role in the identification and potential prevention of violent radicalism and extremism, as well as their role in identifying and preventing terrorism in general. During this camp, the children conducted various group activities where they presented their ideas and creativity on how to advance sincere cooperation between the youth and the police, how to identify potentially radicalized persons as well as the young people’s potential efforts for the de-radicalization of radicalized people. In the framework of the conducted activities, police officers from the aforementioned areas have lectured on topics such as violence in schools, juvenile delinquency, misuse of information technology and social communication networks, prevention of the consequences of the use of narcotic substances and prevention of radicalism and violent extremism leading to terrorism. “Taking into account various research in the area of identifying,
preventing and combating radicalism and violent extremism, it is evident that it is not enough to treat terrorism only through reactive or repressive approaches towards the suspected radicalized and potentially violent persons,” Mr. Cakolli emphasized. He went on to point out that currently the proactive approach or the soft approach to this phenomenon plays a very special and important role. This approach has long-term results and prevents the spreading of extreme ideologies to the general population. We were told more about the activities conducted in this camp by two of its participants: Shpëtim Bunjaku, a student of “Zenel Hajdini” high school in Gjilan and Doruntina Aliu, a student of “Kuvendi i Arbërit” high school in Ferizaj. Both of them were of the opinion that organizing this activity was indeed necessary and important as it is a good way for young people to become aware of these negative phenomena. “I found the topic very interesting, knowing the challenges that our society is facing. First of all, I think the lack of proper information is one of the main reasons why radicalism and extremism have increased. Participation in this camp has given us the opportunity to give our thoughts and ideas on how to address this issue. But we as participants have learned more and better how we should act in such situations,” Mr. Bunjaku highlighted. Whereas for Ms. Doruntina Aliu the greatest benefit was the information on how each resident of Kosovo can and should contribute to improve security starting from the community in which they live. “We all need to take responsibility for our security and help the police succeed in their mission. The radicalization of society is current and dangerous to our society but, how big is this threat I do not think I am competent to speak. However, what I learned here in the camp is that we can all contribute to coping and reducing this threat.”

16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE Leave No One Behind: End Violence Against Women and Girls
F
rom 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world. The international campaign originated from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership in 1991. This year, the Security and Gender Group headed by UN Women, launched the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign in Kosovo with the ballet performance “NJË DITË” / “One Day” held in the National Theater in Prishtina. With a simple scenography, a bit of lighting, using almost every corner of the theatre, the art of movement served a cause: The call against gender inequality. The ballet performance unfolded an inspirational story of women’s experiences in Kosovo on the stage led by American choreographer Christina Coleman. “One Day” presented the dynamics of power in gender relations, illustrating
true stories of people, helping us to understand the causes that result in the inequality. Popular public figures took a stand to end violence against women and girls on the official video of the campaign produced by SGG. Uta Ibrahimi, the first Kosovan woman alpinist to reach the Himalayan peaks and a young entrepreneur; Blerim Vuniqi, former basketball player and famous sports journalist; Captain Tahire Haxholli, Head of the Domestic Violence Unit at Kosovo Police; Adriatik Kelmendi, a prominent journalist, television host and academician; and Adriana Matoshi, a well-known movie and theatre actress participated in the video, urging people not to stay silent and take action against violence. Video link: https://www.youtube. com/watch?v=Yl32pzvRFfw&t=3s In the Parliamentary session of the 29th of November, Member of Parliament Blerta Deliu-Kodra stated relevant institutions should respect the laws in force for preventing the violence against women. Prime Minister, Ministers and Parliament Members wore orange scarves and orange bracelets made by survivors of conflict related sexual violence in solidarity with the 16 Days campaign.
In the heart of Pristina, the Peer Educators Network (PEN) challenged gender stereotypes with a flash mob in Pristina’s main square that had men compete against each other on household tasks. Throughout the campaign UN Women Kosovo distributed the orange bracelets handmade by survivors of conflict related sexual violence, supporting the common goal of a world free from violence and discrimination of women and girls. This year, the UNiTE Campaign marked the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence under the overarching theme, “Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls”— reflecting the core principle of the transformative 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 16 Days of Activism activities were organized all over Kosovo, as part of global conversation about ending violence against women, with the hope to spread the message further, reach new audiences, and involve new generations in the fight against gender-based violence. Elimination of violence against women and girls is rooted at the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted in 2015 by all 193 Member States of the United Nations.
