Q: What was it like going Best In Show with her breeder/ owner handled? It was wonderful, very special! Kevin and I had never had the pleasure of seeing Fifi and Michelle win any of their 9 Best In Shows. Something I realized that made it even more Special was when Fifi started with Michelle, it was 14 days into their journey she won their first Best. Well, 14 days into Fifi’s next journey with me, she won this Best In Show. Q: What are your plans with Fifi from her? A: I plan to do what I wanted to do from the day she was born, show her! Fifi is only two, yet she is the best Doberman I have ever bred. I want to have fun with her. Kevin is going to travel with me more so that we can do this as a family. You never know what life is going to throw at you; we will do what we can while we can. I also plan to start training her for Agility, Obedience and Schutzhund, to follow in her mother, Ch. Protocol’s American Dream CDX, AX, AXJ, XF, SCH I, ROM’s, footsteps. I believe in Fifi, I believe we have some memories to make together. I am in awe of Fifi as much today as I was when we began photographing her as a five week old pup. I am excited and whatever the future holds for Fifi ,I look forward to it with all my heart. That’s what dreams are all about. In closing, there are a lot of people that are a part of who Fifi is, what she’s accomplished and who she will go on to be. The saying,’ it takes a village’ is true and we love and appreciate our villagers. We want to name a few we are grateful for but I can’t

list everyone individually because there simply isn’t enough paper in the magazine, but you’re included. Michelle in our 8 year partnership we have accomplished a lot, we have bred and shared some beautiful dogs and made unforgettable memories. We congratulate you on accomplishing your lifelong dream of showing a Doberman to #1 All Systems and on all you did with Fifi, you really did it all! We thank you for wanting to do it with our girl. Every new dog you show, you up your goals and achieve them, you are amazing and your talent is unmatchable. To say you have the magic touch isn’t doing you justice. Fifi Kevin and I love you! Thank you Irene, Kim, Katherine, Bug, Mallory, Teresa, and all for prepping, playing, loving Fifi and assisting Michelle; none of this would have happened for them without you. Shani, thank you, you my friend, have been amazing on both sides of the country! Mary Jo and her family, I can’t and don’t ever want to imagine you not being a part of our family and Protocol Dobermans, you have been there since way before Fifi’s first breath. I couldn’t have made it through the last eighteen months without you, I thank God for you! Thank you friends, fellow breeders, fellow exhibitors and Fifi’s fans; your kindness and support of Fifi make this even more fun. Thank you to the Judges that have been a part of Fifi’s amazing accomplishments. We appreciate this interview invitation from The Doberman Pinscher Magazine to share Fifi’s story and accomplishments thus far with the fancy. g

was also informative to watch the others, and I was able to take away much from the time spent. I enjoyed the camaraderie sitting on the field and the conversations I had with the other participants. People came from all over the country, all walks of life. Many had attended every year, some ten or fifteen years. In the past Phil held a camp in Connecticut and we are trying to bring that experience back in possibly the Poconos or Catskills this summer. If you are new to Schutzhund or don’t have a dog to work you can also audit the seminar. Some folks had trained their dogs from youngsters and some had purchased dogs that had already been titled whom they used as family guardians and friends. So the knowledge and personal needs of the participants were quite varied which kept it very interesting. I was quite impressed with an Iraq veteran who participated in a wheel chair and had a very nice well trained dog. What commitment! In addition to participating in the camp, I had my nine year old bitch, Ch. Catawba’s Mini Mink CD, treated with the stem cell therapy in Gainesville, Florida. So far results have been good. Needless to say it was a busy week. The rest of the week progressed with the same schedule, and my dogs were responding well to the repetitions. They were most definitely making progress and by Friday Carl actually remarked, “Damn we have two Dobermans who are actually tracking.” I was sad to complete my last protection sessions and walk off the field on Friday. I wondered how I could possibly keep the dogs progressing at this rate especially when we were headed into our worst weather in New Jersey. That evening we had a party and some thoughts for our instructors, and they had plenty for us as well. We exchanged contact info and I am looking forward to participating and sharing this unique passion for dogs in the future with many of these folks. I was lucky enough to be able to work with Phil Holcher and Karen Grier on four more occasions in Miami this past winter. It certainly was a welcome reprieve from the cold snowy winter we had in New Jersey. If you have the chance to attend the camp, it truly is the “Total Immersion Schutzhund Experience.” g
