IT ASSURANCE - HOW RELIABLE IS YOUR IT AND DOES IT COMPLY WITH THE REGULATORY FRAMEWORK?

Many SMEs are dependant on IT to run their business, but how many can state with confidence that their systems meet today’s confidentiality, integrity, availability and compliance requirements? The need for assurance in this area is made more difficult with the moves towards outsourcing and cloud computing. The forthcoming General Data Protection Regulations makes all businesses liable to sanctions of up to four times their turnover if data is not adequately protected, or correctly processed. SMEs need to obtain assurance that they can protect personal data, ensure that it is accurate and is available when required. Large organisations can employ dedicated assurance providers, or pay for external consultants, but the SME seldom can afford such help. This session will explore, in non-technical terms, how the SME can seek assurance that they conform with the regulatory framework without laying out large amounts of cash.
