elcome to November issue of Village Living, this month we have started to think about Christmas (AGGGGHHHHH!) and have picked a few fabulous places for you to shop local this year, in Steyning, Storrington, and Shoreham and get started on your shopping! This month we bring you a lccal round up of local goings on, diary dates an introduction to Vivacious bar events, and Dandylion tailoring in Steyning. A fun cover shoot with those great gals at Apres Chocolate in Shoreham, with a big thank you to our cover star Sarah Cleveley, our fab photographer Millie Dougherty, and of course to the ever lovely Suzie Walker at APres, we all had a great time, thank you for having us. Im sure there is something for everyone to be found in our shopping guide and get some early inspiration!Next month we have a great give away from Avon, a guide from a very talented interior designer on how to dress your house for Christmas so look out for that towards the end of November… wishing you a lovely month, stay safe over bonfire night and don’t forget to take special care of your pets .

Steyning Shop Windows Battle it Out! The annual Best Food Theme Shop Window competition took place in Steyning last Saturday, the last Saturday of the Steyning & District Food and Drink Festival – 25 shops/eateries took part. Jack Dunckley, Chelsea/Hampton Court award winning garden designer and owner of Birchfield Nurseries in Henfield, came over to Steyning to judge the event, and what a task it turned out to be. There were two categories covering both Foodie and non-Foodie establishments, and all of them had put so much time and effort into creating an eye-catching window based around the subject of food. Armed with a clipboard, Jack – along with the organising group – took in the long High Street, writing comments as he went. Mike Warren from Steyning Camera Club, had kindly volunteered to take pictures of the windows, which helped tremendously when the deliberation on which should win prizes took place. Originally prizes were for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places, but because of the high quality of entries, Jack added a Highly Commended Award as well. Steyning & District Business Chamber sponsored the prizes, and the winners were:
Foodie Category: 1st Prize – Truffles 2nd Prize – The Little Sweetshop 3rd Prize – Chez Joel Highly Commended – The Model Bakery

Just like the Grinch we at Steyning Arts believe that Christmas shouldn’t be about mass produced gifts from a store so we are hosting an artist and makers fair filled with unique gifts, greeting cards and decorations. We believe Christmas time is about giving chances, so we are offering local artists the chance to showcase and sell their hand crafted art works.We know that everyone likes and deserves something different so our artists will be offering Photography, Jewellery, Painting, Stained glass, Wood craft, Textiles and Ceramics.We understand that gifts from the heart do not have to cost the earth which is why we have asked artists to produce pieces suited to all budgets with prices ranging from two to two hundred pounds. We believe Christmas is a great time for “..a little bit more” so we will be supporting “Your Space Your Time” with proceeds from the sale of refreshments. And because we all dislike paying for car parking but love a bit of cake we’ve chosen a venue with a free car park and are offering cake in our café area.The Steyning Arts at Christmas Artist and Makers Fair will be held at the Steyning centre on the 28th November between 10.30 and 4.30pm. Who is Igor? Who is Igor: Igor Srzic Cartledge is an internationally respected fashion expert in tailoring, designing and fashion styling with 15 years of experience in the business. He started his fashion career in London then gradually made his name internationally. Igor’s flare for design later inspired him to launch his successful personal styling shopping enterprise, shortly followed by his growing tailoring business ‘Dandylion Style’. Sussex Fashion Awards elected Igor as Fashion Ambassador, as well as him winning the prize for ‘Outstanding Achievement’. Integral to Igor’s talents is his bubbly personality. He has worked as a fashion stylist for Brighton’s popular radio station Juice FM which brought so much fun for him and the listeners. Part of Igor’s busy lifestyle includes regularly being featured in national and international press. He creatively and inspirationally writes for men’s fashion magazines and has his own editorials in different magazines across the country.
