Role: Senior Designer

LEED Silver

This new 106,622sf headquarters sits on 6.2 acres of the new 660-acre PGA Frisco campus, which will also include two new championship golf courses, a 500-room Omni PGA Frisco Resort and a golf entertainment district. The new building will promote the PGA’s mission to bring state-of-the-art education facilities and workplace together.

The ground floor was designed to serve staff, PGA Members and guests as a destination for the future of golf, including a video studio and education center. The lobby design features a wood wall sculpted to mimic the contours of the on-site golf course, terrazzo flooring and an open social stair to facilitate casual collisions between employees and PGA Members. Other floors are designed for workplace, consolidating the core to the center of the building to allow for 360 degree views out towards the golf course and neighboring developments.

Wellness played an important role in the design of the interior spaces, providing ample access to daylight, amenities such as quiet rooms, wellness rooms, and fitness, as well as delight with the inclusion of color and artful display of materials. The architecture of the building also incorporates outdoor terraces on each level facilitating an outdoor-indoor work environment.

As designer on this project, my responsibilities included planning of the building, consultation on WELL certification opportunities, design of various amenity spaces, renderings for client presentation, client presentation, construction drawings, construction administration, as well as consultation on FFE.

GREYSTAR AT SYMPHONY SQUARE

Austin, Texas | Under Construction

Corporate / Hospitality

Firm: Page/

Role: Senior Designer

LEED Gold (Anticipated)

Launching their venture into mixed-use development, Greystar’s project includes two separate towers connecting multi-family residential with corporate/commercial by outdoor rooftop amenity spaces. The scope awarded was to develop interior amenity spaces for the corporate/commercial tower, including the main entrance lobby, elevator lobbies, restrooms, bike room, and outdoor terrace.

Sited adjacent to historic Symphony Square Amphitheater along the Waterloo Greenway in downtown Austin, the context significantly shaped the conversation around materiality, form, and rhythm. The intent was to create a hospitality level front lobby comparable to competitive downtown corporate offices, inviting guests and building users to collaborate and work remotely.

Providing a unique challenge, the site drops17’-0” along its northern elevation. Due to this significant change in slope, the lobby space presented remained mostly underground. Our team worked closely with the core and shell architect to revisit the space reserved for the main lobby in efforts to modify the parking garage above and increase the lobby volume. In our success, the modifications allowed for more access to natural light, improving the overall quality of the space. Additionally, this modification created a better pedestrian presence to the street-scape.

Inspired by the rhythm of music, the walls are lined with a staccato of Texas pecan wood slats, bringing warmth and scale to the space. Interrupting the rhythm are carefully placed interior landscaped pillars delineating programmatic elements and bringing nature further into the building. Contrasting the natural warmth of the wood is a glossed venetian plastered ceiling with layers of washed light to illuminate the space while keeping a soft, comfortable hospitality environment. Because of the long and narrow constraints of the space, various millwork elements were crafted to create varied intimate enclaves for diverse user needs. Amenity spaces beyond the lobby were designed maintain a consistent design language using sleek white finishes and layered forms.

CONCENTRA HEADQUARTERS

Addison, Texas | 2020

Corporate

Firm: Page/

Role: Designer

“Because your Employees Matter” is Concentra’s motivations for providing comprehensive healthcare services - urgent care, physical and occupational therapy, and wellness -- to America’s workforce. When executive leadership realized the design of the company’s current headquarters was no longer in line with their mission, they approached Page.

Moving oversized offices from the perimeter of the building to the core of the floor plate allowed maximization of daylighting to the open office. Adding glass to office storefronts let natural light travel through to the offices while allowing full transparency and a modernized look to the offices. Reducing the footprint of workstations provided a more efficient layout and increased available space for amenities and collaborative work spaces.

Individual places for quiet heads-down work and relaxation were introduced as well as open collaborative areas with of eye-catching rich color for alternative work environments. Scattered small interior breakrooms on each floor were replaced with a large social hub centrally located on each floor, encouraging employee socialization. These breakrooms incorporated healthy food options and ample plug-and-play power integrated into furniture choices.

As designer on this project, my responsibilities included test fit studies, the development of material palette, renderings for client presentation, construction drawings, construction administration, as well as consultation on FFE. At 117,000sf with a modest budget, mindful material selections and design decisions were executed to make the most impact on the users experience.

COLLIN COLLEGE WYLIE CAMPUS

Wylie, Texas | 2020

Higher Education

Firm: Page/

Role: Designer

IIDA Texas/Oklahoma Design Excellence Award

After experiencing double digit population growth over the past couple of decades, Collin College found itself needing to add educational programs to serve the residences of Wylie. Collin College embarked on a massive bond program to build a new campus on the land adjacent to the City of Wylie government center. Page was commissioned to guide the College’s vision from a strategic master plan to site development to building design.

This Phase I development of 350,000sf will provide the backbone for the campus life including the Welcome Center, Resource Center, and the Student Center with educational and faculty spaces located in each building for an integrated learning and social environment. The interior finishes compliment the timeless exterior, a Texas Regional style using limestone, multi-tone buff brick, painted steel trellis and clear glass. Color is introduced into the exterior and interior details to provide visual interest and an intuitive wayfinding between buildings within a unified concept for the campus. With the goal of inviting students to stay on campus for individual study and collaboration, open spaces prioritizing natural light and varied furniture solutions was at the forefront of planning efforts.

As designer on this project, my responsibilities included producing planning studies for all campus buildings, interior finish scheme, interior design of millwork, renderings for client presentation, and construction drawings.

HARLEM HEBREW LANGUAGE ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL

Harlem, New York | 2017

Educational K-8

Firm: BL Companies

Role: Senior Project Designer

Harlem Hebrew Language Academy Charter School contained grades K-2 and could not support the expansion of further grades. We developed a solution to expand the existing building an additional 20,000sf on a vacant portion of its lot to the North to provide an additional 6 grades. The renovation of the existing structure also includes space for a new cafeteria, rooftop play space, administrative spaces and installation of new mechanical and life safety systems. In addition, the building will be upgraded to meet current building codes. The new addition will include additional classrooms, elevator and restrooms to support the building expansion.

The school shares the site with a former church, converted to a community center, and future residential building. BL Companies performed a careful analysis of the site and worked closely with our client and the developer/landlord to establish the best use of the property available and maximize the available lot coverage. Sensitive to the historic context of the Harlem community, we designed the building to fit in with its neighbors through the use of color, proportion, scale, and material selection. Our design is respectful to surrounding buildings, especially the original school and neo-Gothic church; however, it maintains its identity as a modern building.

As designer on this project, my responsibilities included producing feasibility planning studies for the addition, developing schematic drawings and facade studies, and executing construction documents. During the production of construction documents, my role included extensive work and research developing and detailing the exterior rainscreen wall system, which includes the use of fiber cement panels.
