"Campsites, restaurants, lidos, beaches. We represent all that is lake state property. "Luigi Lusardi, president of the Lake Como Basin Authority, unanimously re-elected last February, explains. "We are the entity in charge of managing everything," he continues. This means that when there is a problem or when faced with the desire to want to organize a sports event, you have to interface with the Basin Authority. With a budget of 11 billion euros, "all revenues are reinvested in the territory," Lusardi says proudly, with a wide variety of projects, including "the Eupilio Rowing Center. True excellence for Lake Pusiano, the surrounding villages and the province". Not only lots of ideas, but also numerous challenges. Among the most longstanding issues is that of navigation, which is still too weak and little exploited. "We would like it to be entrusted to the Lombardy Region and managed by an entity that, like ours, has 20 years of experience. Navigation must be able to keep up with the demands that come from tourists and citizens. It must be a streamlined, fast and safe service." Only in this way can the different needs be met. Over the years, our lake has become a popular destination for people of all kinds. To be able to maintain the right balance between the average tourist and the luxury tourist, without forgetting the citizens, "it is important to team up among the different entities and agree on the development of the offer present on the lake," Lusardi concludes.
