CANTINA

Afascinating and satisfying journey that started 70 years ago from the shores of Lake Como to conquer the world. A match played and won thanks to inventiveness, right intuitions, taste, refinement and the ability to see in advance what would happen next. These are the secret recipe that characterize the Tessabit world, the group of luxury boutiques located on the lake and downtown Como, capable of offering an exclusive and varied experience for women, men and child. The saga of the Molteni family, which has been able to discover and propose, year after year, fashion trends, began in 1953 with the opening of the first historic shop in Via Milano, a boutique that became the starting point of an unstoppable series of openings of locations that soon became iconic, up to the recent store opened in mid-May in an ancient building at Portici Plinio. There are now three generations that have followed one another Tessabit (the name comes from the words fabrics - tess - and clothes -abit-), synonymous with avantgarde and continuous stylistic research, in perfect harmony with the beautiful territory of Lake Como and with the needs of international celebrities that has found a home in the Como boutiques. Just to mention, among the many celebrities fond of Tessabit, the unconditional love of the rock star Bruce Springsteen, an unfailing customer on each of his Italian visits, who also sent a message to congratulate for this important anniversary. Here how the brothers Giampiero and Giorgio approach the 70th anniversary. “At the base of everything is work, constant research and experimentation,"

Giampiero Molteni says. "I myself began when I was 15 years old working in our first small store on Via Milano. There I began to learn the secrets of this job". And always Giampiero knew how to turn his gaze to the moment of epochal change that subsequently generated the advent of Made in Italy, personally knowing all the great designers - from Armani to Valentino, Versace, Krizia, Missoni, Ferragamo, Miuccia Prada, Dolce&Gabbana - before they became international stars. Progressively as the Tessabit name grew, so did the number of stores and employees, which has been steadily increasing. "After the boutiques in the city, over the years we reached the Luxury Hotel Villa d'Este, as well as other strategical stores in Bellagio and Menaggio. In Cernobbio we opened the concept store Pike, followed directly by my daughter Francesca, aimed at a new generation of customers thanks to the continuous research of trends and brands of the future” - Giampiero says -. "At the same time, thanks to my fortuitous intuition and the skills of my son Andrea, we created the e-commerce channel. A move that turned out to be successful and changed our business completely. The approach is now multichannel in a unique experience between physical and digital and in close synergy with Top Brands. Hence the latest collaborations and special projects, such as with Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, Loewe and new stars Jacquemus and Amia Mauddi". So from these words it is easy to understand how Tessabit has come to celebrate 70 years of success. Another beating soul of this entrepreneurial adventure is Giorgio Molteni, who proudly recounts the long and compelling road traveled. "The key milestone was the resourcefulness of my parents Paolo and Giulia Agrati, who after the war with tenacity and courage began to trade in textiles and clothing. From a very young age at their side, I learned the principles and values that are still part of me and my children Paolo, Marco and Barbara, who are also involved in various sectors of our business. Then there were the special encounters with great designers such as Ralph Lauren, whom I personally met in the United States in the early 1970s, Paul Smith and Marinella, Lapo Elkann and Rocco Iannone, who presented their collections in our boutiques. Giorgio Molteni also highlights what has always been one of the basic characteristics of the family: "The underlying philosophy of our activity has always been the desire to know and to look forward, to the future, experimenting with new ideas and proposals. Dedication to work and perseverance in achieving goals are then elements that have always distinguished us," says Molteni. A final step that is impossible not to take is to ask what is in the future. What he has in mind for the years to come. "We have many projects, after the opening of the flagship store at Portici Plinio, the two stores in Pavia, the one-brand Ralph Lauren store, the research store dedicated to New Generation "Drawing on the fridge," and presences at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, the goal is to diversify the Tessabit brand without ever forgetting our strong and indissoluble bond with the territory where we were born and raised," Giorgio Molteni tells us as he greets us.
