This year we are working with St Peter’s Church and a number of local cafes, bars, clubs, pubs, and restaurants to bring a series of jazz concerts and free events to the town from the 20th to the 30th June.

Live jazz events are taking place at Chaplin’s Bar, Miramar Hotel, Connaught Hotel, Cosy Club, Flirt Café Bar, Meet & Sip Cafe, Dean Park Inn, Cellar Bar in Poole and Vesuvio Beach Bar & Restaurant at Alum Chine. So do come and support us and sit back and listen to some of the finest jazz music whilst you enjoy a drink or dine with friends and family.

We begin with a launch event at Flirt Café on Thursday 20th June followed by a ticketed concert featuring Zoot Money and his band. The festival week kicks off with the Revolution Club band playing at Flirt Café on Saturday 22nd June, followed by the Rachel More Trio playing an afternoon jazz set there on Sunday 23rd June. On 24th June, Dean Park Inn host their regular Monday night Jazz session featuring the Richie Preston Group. From Monday to Friday there are a series of free lunchtime jazz concerts in St Peter’s Church including a concert with renowned jazz organist Andy Quin on Friday plus a special fish & chip Jazz Supper on Wednesday night with Susie Kimber and Paul Walker. Bournemouth’s

Cosy Club features live jazz in their lounge on Thursday and Friday night. Café Rouge in Westbourne host local musicians, Rob Koral and Zoe Schwarz on Thursday and Vesuvio will be offering a dinner jazz evening with the Revolution Club band playing their ambient lounge music on Friday night. Also on Friday night, Scared of Jazz will be rolling out their unique Jazz and R&B music mix at Flirt Café New to this year’s festival, Meet & Sip Café on the Triangle will be hosting live jazz on Thursday and Saturday night. The festival rounds off with the ever popular Jazz Cruise aboard the Dorset Queen on Sunday 30th June, departing from Poole Quay at 4pm and followed later that evening by Rob and Zoe playing a selection of their Jazz favourites at Chaplin’s Bar.

Our thanks go to all our festival supporters and local venues who are participating this year and also to Chris Mayne and the Friends of St Peter’s Church for keeping the jazz flag flying through the year with their Friday lunchtime concerts.

Local four-piece band ‘Scared of Jazz’ celebrate the classic Hammond Organ sound of the 1950s & 60s, when organ trios or quartets blurred the lines between blues, R&B, and jazz. Hear them play at Flirt Café on Friday 28th June.

REVOLUTION CLUB

The Revolution Club’s mixture of electronics, sound sampling and live performance revolutionise the jazz genre. It’s the most exciting development in jazz music for decades and blends elements of acid, funk, soul and electronic dance music with free improvisation.

THE FIFINELLAS

Vocal harmony group singing vintage styles of music including 40’s Wartime, Swing & Jazz. See them strut their stuff on Poole Quay from 3pm on Sunday 30th June then on board the Dorset Queen Jazz Cruise departing at 4pm.

ANDY QUIN

Internationally acclaimed film composer and concert organist Andy Quin is a true jazz virtuoso. His repertoire features much of the American Songbook and many of his own compositions. Hear him play at St Peter’s Church on 28th June.

ST PETER’S CHURCH introduces a series of lunchtime jazz sessions, with a variety of singers and jazz musicians, including Sue Hawker and Ray Shea on Monday, Ian Close and John MacDonald on Thursday and renowned film composer and jazz organist, Andy Quin giving a concert on Friday 28th June. On Weds 26th June the Friends of St Peter’s Church have arranged a special Fish & Chip Jazz Supper. Come and listen to the jazz sounds of Susie Kimber and Paul Walker in a most beautiful setting. The acoustics are awesome!

FLIRT CAFÉ BAR in the Triangle is a place that welcomes everyone, any time, any day. By day, sit, relax, watch a video, read a book. Free Wi-Fi. Magazines. Newspapers. Great Coffee, Chai and hot food. By night, Flirt Cafe is a creative hub to meet, listen to live music, with events, from poetry and spoken word to jazz, quizzes and more. It’s a great place to meet and mingle and there’s always something going on.  Listen to Zoot Money and his band playing there on 20th June, and for jazz enthusiasts, see Revolution Club playing Sat 22nd from 8pm, Rachel More on Sunday 23rd at 5pm and Scared of Jazz on Friday 28th in the evening.

MEET & SIP is a place to meet others or to sip and enjoy your own company. A coffee shop during the day which turns into a cocktail bar/lounge in the evening. Listen to jazz vocalist Sophie Breakell on Thursday 27th and Revolution Club playing lounge jazz on Saturday 29th June.

THE MIRAMAR HOTEL has always been a place for jazz fans, young and old. This year, the Mark Gibson Quartet will be playing jazz in the lounge/garden from 6pm on Thursday 27th June.

Enjoy a glass of bubbly or a gin and tonic as you watch the sun set across the bay. There can be no better way to round off a busy day than just chilling out and listening to jazz!

VESUVIO BEACH BAR AND RESTAURANT combines authentic Italian cuisine with warm friendly hospitality to create a memorable dining experience with their Friday night jazz suppers. Experience breath taking panoramic views across Bournemouth bay whilst enjoying fine Italian dining and listening to the contemporary jazz sounds of Revolution Club Band. BOURNEMOUTH’S COSY CLUB has attractive dining areas spread across 3 floors. From the distinguishing third floor bar and rooftop terrace you can enjoy dining alfresco in one of the sunniest spots in Bournemouth. Listen to Revolution Club Band playing there on Thursday 27th June and the much acclaimed FB Pocket Orchestra rolling out their repertoire of hot jazz and ragtime music on Friday 28th June.

CHAPLIN’S BAR is a unique music venue located in the heart of Boscombe. The venue plays host to original live music as well as poetry, comedy and theatre events. Well-known local jazz duo Zoe Schwarz & Rob Koral are playing there on Sunday 30th June.

THE DEAN PARK INN is a popular meeting point for local and visiting jazz lovers alike. Whether you fancy a sociable pint of Wadworth’s ale or a bite to eat from the fresh food menu, there’s something on offer for everyone. Monday night is the Inn’s regular Jazz night, with a host of fantastic musicians for your entertainment and delight. See the action on Monday 24th June with the Richie Preston Group.
