Hello Dear ‘Rustics’
In the true spirit of the Rotary Wheel, what goes round comes around; and for Verwood Rotary Club’s 30th time, “RUSTIC 2024” is fast approaching. For those of you new to the “village” the Rustic Fayre has been going for many years, and over time has become Verwood’s favourite day out. Our regular slot on the calendar is August Bank Holiday Monday at Potterne Park. Sadly we’ve no Carnival Queen to open this year’s Fayre, but there’s a surprise guest to do the honours. The format has evolved over time, but the basics are constant, stalls, music, classic vehicles displays and Arena acts – most there supporting their own various charitable causes. Of course, refreshments in all forms are critical so whether it’s an Ice-Cream, Tea, Burgers, Pimms or a cooling beer (hopefully hot soup won’t be required) you’ll find them all there; and remember all profits from the Rustic Fayre go to local and Rotary nominated charitable groups. In 2023 in excess of £11,500 was distributed in this way.
As Verwood grows and social outlets (Pubs & Clubs) reduce, chance meetings with friends become rarer. The Rustic Fayre has always been the place to meet and make new friends, and catch-up with the ones you’ve lost track of.
In line with many other groups the Rotary Club needs fresh blood to continue with its aims of supporting needy causes, while at the same time having fun. Our
thanks go to the many supporters of the event, without them the event couldn’t happen. Sadly the cancellation of Verwood Carnival was proof of that this year! If you think it could be YOU, come and have a chat at the Rotary Control Gazebo – and remember, ladies are very much a part of our Club! More immediately however extra help on the day is always welcome, If you could spare a couple of hours please give me a call 07707-074240. Don’t leave it to others, be involved - - -
I look forward to seeing you there, Cheers, “Rusty Vern” Chairman.

I’m Peter Campbell, this year’s President of Verwood Rotary, welcoming you to Verwood’s Rustic Fayre, the biggest day in Rotary’s calendar and the culmination of many months of hard work.
Rotary are committed to raising money for worthwhile causes and to try and help people less fortunate. As with most things, costs in putting the show together have risen enormously over the years and sadly our entrance fee needs to rise accordingly, from being held at £5 for many years it has now risen to £7. With free entry for children, still great value.
Having taken on this year’s Presidency I am delighted to get the chance to say thank you to all our members, sponsors, and volunteers. We know times are difficult so to the local businesses that have sponsored a duck in the duck race, thank you, to the people giving up their time to volunteer at the gates or with car parking, thank you. We’re particularly indebted to Mark Jenkins and the crew at the Verwood Hub; Chris Warburton, Adrian Wareham, and All at Forest FM. Of course our main sponsor “Nicholas O’Hara” Funeral Directors - - - the list goes on, Thank You ALL!
Good day WHEN HARRY met RUSTY
I also get the opportunity to remind everyone that Rotary is always looking for new members, Rotarians are drawn from our local community and we welcome everyone to come and join us, have a beer whilst finding out what we do and hopefully become members. Last year, Verwood Rotary raised over £20,000 and we can only achieve this with your help.
Each year the President chooses their own local charity and this year’s charity is the Helix Centre, in Verwood. The Helix Centre is a wonderful day centre for adults with learning disabilities.
So finally, I really hope that the weather holds and all attending this year’s fayre have a wonderful day.
Thank You, Pete
We’re delighted to announce that Harry Redknapp will be opening & attending Verwood Rotary’s 30th Rustic Fayre. After a lifetime in football Harry’s now well known well beyond the world of sport. Much of his time is spent supporting many charitable causes, and now the “Rustic” is among them. Our thanks to him for spending a Bank Holiday with us; Do come along and say hello.

The cost of putting on the Rustic Fayre increases year by year; both financially and physically! The Rotary Club is really grateful for the support and assistance it receives from many quarters, and in many ways. Our sincere thanks to all too numerous to name individually, but including:
