MAGICAL-REALISTIC WORLD CONTINENTS Two people try to keep going in a daily routine, while sinister, violent cravings are emerging through the cracks in their perfect existence. The line dividing man from beast seems dangerously thin within the four walls of their living room. Music, design and light combine to create a magical-realistic on-stage world, in which the divisions between dayto-day drudgery, fantasy and nightmare gradually erode. > 17 March, Theater Kikker theaterkikker.nl

EXPLOSIVE AND SUBTLE INOAH The Brazilian choreographer Bruno Beltrão started a revolution in hip-hop by combining it with other styles of modern dance. In this dance production, ten dancers argue the case for freedom of movement by testing the boundaries between hiphop, breakdance and contemporary dance. They demonstrate the ambivalent nature of human relationships: sometimes gentle and subtle, sometimes threatening and explosive. > 12 March, Stadsschouwburg Utrecht stadsschouwburg-utrecht.nl

DREAM AWAY JULIA & OTHER LOVE STORIES The dancers of the Dutch Don’t Dance Division bring an ode to love, one of the greatest sources of inspiration for countless choreographers. What should you expect? Love duets, solos and group dances, all performed to dreamy music by Purcell, Prokofiev, Gershwin and Bette Midler’s adaptation of ‘When a Man loves a Woman’. Not forgetting the most famous romantic tragedy of all time: Romeo & Juliet. > 21 March, Podium Hoge Woerd podiumhogewoerd.nl

A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE SYZYGY Our body is the most powerful, and yet the most vulnerable, thing that we possess. We are all, to some extent, concerned about our bodies. How do culture and media affect our self-image? And how far can we manipulate reality? In this performance, four female performers take us on a voyage through reality and fantasy, consistently returning to the ultimate question: can you see things differently? And after the performance, will you view your own body, and that of your companion, from a different perspective? > 8 April, Podium Hoge Woerd podiumhogewoerd.nl

UTRECHT SURREALISM DE TRANEN VAN EROS (EROS’ TEARS) The only official Dutch surrealist was born in Utrecht: the painter Johannes Moesman (1909-1988). He portrayed his sexual fantasies at a time when it was highly taboo, particularly in the Netherlands. But he wasn’t the only surrealist who tried to free himself from the confines of conformism by exploring this topic. This exhibition places Moesman’s work within the context of his international counterparts. In addition to Salvador Dalí, René Magritte and Max Ernst, for the first time, space has been allocated to female surrealists. > until 24 May, Centraal Museum centraalmuseum.nl/en

REFLECTIONS THE CROWDED SKY Artist Jasmijn Visser and designer S✝ëfan Schäfer reflect upon the psychology of the masses in the current digital era. The exhibition is also a chance to view a work of the same name (The Crowded Sky), a 90-minute experience that evolves into a group exhibition. The various works of art appear and disappear, reflecting on concepts relating to the psychology of the masses from the perspective of visual art, drama, architecture and design. > March and April, IMPAKT (Lange Nieuwstraat 4) impakt.nl
