THESIS SHOW JAN-2016 My work is about the confrontation of traffic while driving in the city mainly viewing vehicles from the back andthere is a special focus of chicnkchis, native to lahore. When confronted, it is as though a wall of people is being followed by the subject. But as soon as one becomes conscious of it the relationship alters. As the wall of people travelling in the front of the car become passengers of the same journey. And under the bright head lights they pose and model, pretend to be natural as would a model in a fine arts anatomy class. So I work with pictures taken from different vantage points on the street and draw them in different compositions. Materials I use vary from charcoal, paint, ink etc

CANVAS GALLERY EXHIBITION- 5 SIDES OF SQUARE A scene in the life of Theseus the Greek hero to save andromeda and bring peace to his land against monsters is painted through out the ages as a symbol of ancient tragedy. But this is the contemporary world and one needs newer pantheons of heros as explained by Joseph Campbell. No longer are the old myths meaningful so we need new dreams and a new mythology to fill in this gap between logic and wonder. My works try to do something similar. New heros in the shape of a motorcyclist or a traffic warden become heros of the scene. We follow them in their world with their problems and their quests. My work is about the traffic and congestion within the city of lahore. I take pictures of everyday scenes. Commuters on road provide for the most mundane scenes. I choose pictures and then re-create them in ball point, paint and charcoal. My goal is always to make work exceeding the conventional scale of painting which may become as large a 9 by 7 feet. As Micheal Angelo sat in a pub in 15 th century Italy he saw prophets and saints in the faces of drunkards and commoners. Similarly my goal is to find heros in the narratives of the everyday lives of people on the streets of lahore
