As we reflect on 2024, we are thrilled to bring you our Best of 2024 South Asian Weddings—a curated collection of the most breathtaking celebrations, inspiring details, and unforgettable moments from this year’s most stunning nuptials.
From opulent multi-day affairs to intimate ceremonies infused with heritage, this year’s weddings showcased an extraordinary fusion of tradition and modernity. We saw brides embracing heritage weaves alongside contemporary couture, grooms making grand entrances with a fresh take on the baraat, and families coming together in vibrant, joy-filled celebrations. Revathi and Shlok’s journey began during their high school days, a time filled with shared laughter, basketball games, and a blossoming connection. Although life briefly led them in different directions, fate—and a little help from mutual friends—brought them back together. Their love only deepened, growing stronger as they supported each other through life’s challenges and joys.
In April 2023, Shlok proposed against the backdrop of the dazzling New York City skyline, making a heartfelt promise of forever. To celebrate their love story, they chose the idyllic shores of Tenerife, Spain, as the setting for their multi-day wedding extravaganza.
The Ritz-Carlton, Abama, offered breathtaking views of the ocean, serving as the perfect venue for their unforgettable celebration. Every event was meticulously planned by the talented teams at Aria Events and Smazing Events, who transformed the couple’s vision into a stunning reality. Floral artistry by La Casa de las Flores played a pivotal role in creating magical spaces for each event. The Sangeet sparkled with hanging mirrors and crystals above the dance floor, while the Haldi was adorned with vibrant floral arrangements in clear jars and colorful tablescapes. The wedding ceremony featured an elegant mandap draped in lush blooms, exuding timeless beauty.
Revathi's vibrant lehenga, adorned with intricate designs, was a stunning reflection of her rich cultural heritage and radiant personality, ensuring she looked breathtakingly elegant on her special day.
The festivities were a joyful blend of tradition and entertainment. Groovy Dhol Revolution and violinist Ana Obando provided captivating performances that set the tone for the events, while DJ Raj Minocha and Platinum Road Show kept the dance floor packed with energy throughout the celebrations.
For their grand reception, Revathi and Shlok drew inspiration from the glamour of the Great Gatsby. Guests were treated to flowing champagne, dazzling flapper dancers, and an atmosphere brimming with opulence and excitement. The seamless travel arrangements by Luxx Escapes ensured that guests could fully enjoy every moment of the celebration.
One of the standout elements of the wedding was how thoughtfully Revathi and Shlok prioritized their guests’ experience. From custom menus for each event to smooth logistics and entertainment, the couple made sure their loved ones felt appreciated.

WINNIE & ANDRES Playa Del Carmen MX
Our Best of 2024 Weddings series takes us to the stunning shores of Mayakoba for Winnie and Andres' multicultural celebration. Their love story began in Tokyo, Japan, where a chance meeting at a capsule hostel sparked a deep connection. Despite years apart during college, they reconnected, and their bond flourished. In July 2022, Andres proposed during a romantic dinner at Tulum's Azulik restaurant, presenting Winnie with a family heirloom ring hidden in her dessert.
Winnie envisioned a wedding that honored her Ugandan and Punjabi roots while embracing Andres’ Mexican heritage. The celebration spanned several days at Banyan Tree Mayakoba and Andaz Mayakoba Riviera Maya, with expert planning by Eunice Bravo Weddings and Cristina Ogando Weddings. Tulips, her late mother’s favorite flower, were incorporated throughout the decor, paying tribute to her memory. The events were a stunning fusion of traditions. A “First Class Flight Around the World” dinner at Banyan Tree treated guests to flavors from India, Japan, Mexico, Uganda, and the USA. Winnie wore an African-inspired outfit that reflected her vibrant heritage. At her father’s villa, the Mehndi ceremony included tabla music, Punjabi folk songs, and a touching tribute to her mother with tulips and her name etched into Winnie’s henna by Loto Mehndi. Makeup artist Alex Corbanezi ensured Winnie radiated beauty throughout every event.
The Mexican Welcome Party at Andaz Mayakoba featured tequila bars, Mayan fire dancers, and mariachi music, while the Haldi ceremony honored her mother with yellow origami cranes. Guests enjoyed an Asian-inspired feast before joyfully plunging into the ocean. The Jaggo/Sangeet brought Punjabi energy with live music by Malkit Singh and a vibrant choora ceremony.
Winnie arrived by boat with her brother for the Sikh wedding, where she exchanged vows in a spiritual setting wearing a maroon lehenga embroidered with Andres’ name in Punjabi. A second ceremony celebrated Mexican traditions, with a mariachi band and live painter Juliana Casali capturing the day. The reception followed an African jungle theme, featuring a heartfelt tribute to Winnie’s mother.
With DJ Sunny P and Beats by Jay energizing the celebrations, and Pixan Photography and Ismael Gonzalez Filmmaker capturing every detail, Winnie and Andres’ wedding was a breathtaking blend of culture, love, and cherished memories. From their serendipitous meeting in Tokyo to their celebrations in Tulum, their story proves that love knows no boundaries.

Dhruvi and Vybav’s love story is as modern as it is serendipitous, beginning with a Tinder swipe and blossoming into something truly extraordinary. Though they met on the app, their paths had unknowingly crossed years earlier as students at the University of Delaware, where they lived just a floor apart. Over time, Dhruvi’s confidence in their love grew through shared dreams and heartfelt moments that made it clear—Vybav was "the one."
In August 2022, Vybav proposed at Philadelphia's Race Street Pier, a meaningful location from their early days together. Adding a personal touch, he popped the question in Gujarati, asking, “Tu mari sathe lagan karish?”—“Will you marry me?” Hidden loved ones joined to celebrate this heartfelt milestone, setting the tone for a wedding that would celebrate their love with cultural richness and vibrant flair.
Their four-day destination wedding at the El Dorado Royale Grand Ballroom in Mexico was a dazzling blend of North and South Indian traditions. The festivities began with a lively Welcome Fiesta featuring a mariachi band, a dance party, and a sparkling send-off under the night sky. Dhruvi honored her South Indian heritage with a Gowri Pooja, followed by a joyous Haldi and an unforgettable beachside Holi celebration bursting with color.
The Sangeet showcased their Gujarati roots with spectacular performances and custom dandiya sticks. Guests enjoyed an international culinary spread, including Mexican, IndoChinese, and Italian fare, along with whimsical churro and street food stations.
The wedding ceremonies reflected their distinct traditions. The Gujarati ceremony opened with a spirited Baraat and touching moments, such as Dhruvi’s grandmothers serving as flower ladies. She wore a custom purple lehenga by Kalki Fashion, featuring a 10-foot embroidered veil personalized with the couple’s names and wedding date. At sunset, the Kannada wedding unfolded with Dhruvi in a timeless Advaya saree by The House of Angadi, exuding elegance with her traditional yet modern styling.
The reception, planned by Pyaar Planning, was a breathtaking forest-inspired affair with emerald, gold, and black accents. Guests reveled in an electrifying Hora Loca, complete with performers on stilts, water drums, and a lively conga line. Lavish desserts, custom cocktails, and lush florals by ASR Florals added to the magic.
Seamlessly orchestrated by Shaadi Destinations, and captured in stunning detail by DK Photofilms and BSalas Films, Dhruvi and Vybav’s wedding was a harmonious celebration of love, tradition, and joy. It left every guest with cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for the beauty of blending cultures.

Their journey began in the digital age when a dating app first connected them. However, fate had a surprise in store—a glitch interrupted their conversation, leading them to continue talking on Instagram. Their bond deepened quickly, and an early trip to India solidified their love. Within six months, they knew they were meant to be and legally married before planning their grand wedding.
Neil’s proposal was a heartfelt moment, taking place at the picturesque Morris Arboretum, the site of their first date. With family members traveling from across the country to witness the special occasion, the proposal was filled with love and joy, followed by an intimate celebration at their home.
When it came to planning their dream wedding, family played an essential role in bringing their vision to life. With the expertise of Jyoti Soni Events, every detail was meticulously curated to create an unforgettable experience. The grandeur of The Legacy Castle provided a majestic venue, while Abhishek Decorators transformed the space into a breathtaking setting, blending tradition with elegance.
Archana’s bridal journey took her to India, where she found her dream lehenga in a delicate pink shade at Sequinze, paired with a custom 12-foot veil. For the reception, she dazzled in a bespoke creation from Purva Couture. Cinderella Bridez enhanced her natural beauty, crafting a timeless bridal look, while Neil looked effortlessly dapper in a tailored tuxedo from Suit Supply.
The wedding festivities were an unforgettable fusion of tradition and entertainment. Moghul Caterers curated a mouthwatering menu that delighted guests, while DJ JimmyP and MC DJ Intense kept the dance floor buzzing with energy. The cocktail hour was made even more magical with an incredible performance by Tati Cher. Pre-wedding events were equally stunning, featuring a Moroccan-inspired Mehndi night and an ocean-themed Sangeet, with Visual Comet’s lighting adding a mesmerizing touch.
Among the most cherished moments were the intimate time spent with their families before the ceremony and the emotional first look. These special memories were beautifully captured by House of Talent Studio, whose photography and videography immortalized every heartfelt moment.

Agratta and Ankush’s love story is one of serendipity and connection, culminating in a wedding that perfectly reflected their personalities and shared joy. Their journey began during the pandemic in Jersey City, where their friendship flourished through casual outings and shared adventures. Ankush’s unwavering support and acceptance of Agratta’s quirks made her realize he was her perfect partner.
Ankush’s proposal was straight out of a dream aboard a boat in Positano, Italy, on a rainy April day. The drizzle couldn’t dampen the romance, making the occasion even more memorable. This theme of serendipity carried into their wedding week when a sudden rainstorm cleared to reveal a rainbow, signaling good fortune.
Planning such an extraordinary event required a powerhouse team. Led by the talented Pearls Event and Co. and Chandni Mistry-Patel, every detail was meticulously crafted to reflect Agratta and Ankush’s unique personalities. The florals and décor were nothing short of breathtaking, with Creative Punta Cana and Mercaflor creating enchanting setups that transformed every space into a dreamy masterpiece. A wedding planner helped orchestrate their vision, and a trip to India brought their dream wardrobe to life with the help of a stylist cousin.
The festivities began with a bohemian all-white welcome party on the beach. A single long table and chic lounges created an intimate atmosphere, with the couple twinning in Mahima Mahajan outfits. The Haldi ceremony was a colorful affair inspired by an Italian summer, featuring shades of pink and orange, saffron champagne, and tropical piña coladas.
Their Sangeet was a high-energy jungle disco, complete with LED performers, family dances, and surprise performances by the couple. The atmosphere was electrifying, capturing the joyous spirit of the occasion.
The wedding ceremony, held under an acrylic mandap adorned with floating white florals, was a dreamy and elegant affair. Thoughtful touches, like coconut water and popsicle carts, delighted guests, while bursts of colorful confetti and a beachside dinner set the stage for an unforgettable day.
The reception was a black-and-white-themed finale. It began with a tabla sundowner by Nehal Singh and evolved into a vibrant celebration with heartfelt performances from Agratta’s brother and Ankush’s mother. Ankush took the DJ booth for a Boiler Room-style set, ending the night on a high note.
For Agratta and Ankush, the overwhelming love and joy from their families and guests made their wedding week truly magical—a celebration of elegance, creativity, and heartfelt moments that left everyone inspired.

With the talented team at 2 Create Designs handling the planning and decor, every detail of the festivities reflected the couple’s vibrant personalities. Anusha dreamed of honoring traditional South Asian customs while adding contemporary elements to create a truly unique experience. The result was a seamless blend of elegance and festivity that delighted their guests.
The mehndi night was a kaleidoscope of colors and excitement, transformed into a lively bazaar that transported guests to a world of enchantment. Dressed in a radiant ensemble, Anusha perfectly embodied the energy of the night. The decor was an intricate masterpiece, featuring twinkling lights, vibrant florals, and personalized touches that made the event unforgettable. Lively performances and beats by Dhamaka Entertainment kept the celebration alive, with guests dancing well into the night.
For the wedding ceremony, Anusha chose a classic red lehenga by Sadaf Fawad Khan, exuding grace and tradition. Sohaib complemented her perfectly, wearing a sleek custom tuxedo by Nomi Ansari. Together, they looked like royalty as they exchanged vows in a ceremony steeped in love and heritage.
Thoughtful details throughout the week left a lasting impression on guests. Culinary delights from Nikis Halal, indulgent desserts from Popbar and The Sticky Slice, and unique drinks by Nimbuzz Mocktails and Qamaria Coffee ensured every moment was a feast for the senses.

Sarika and Zach’s wedding was a stunning blend of Indian traditions and Western charm, set against the luxurious backdrop of the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco. The two-day celebration, meticulously planned and designed by Dazzling Streaks, brought their love story to life with vibrant colors, heartfelt traditions, and unforgettable moments.
The couple’s journey began in 2019 when Sarika, attending Harvard Business School, stayed in Boston over Thanksgiving. A chance swipe on a dating app led her to Zach, and despite arriving late for their date, Sarika was instantly drawn to him. Hours of conversation at The Alibi bar cemented their connection, and she knew she’d found someone extraordinary.
Zach’s proposal was equally extraordinary. Under the guise of a friend’s birthday celebration, Sarika was guided to Boston Common’s Public Garden, where Zach proposed in a meaningful spot they often visited. The moment was followed by a surprise gathering of friends and family at the Boston Public Library, making it even more special.
Their wedding planning was a labor of love, with Sarika and her mother curating a celebration that honored Tamil traditions while embracing Western elements. The RitzCarlton, with its grandeur and seamless event hosting, served as the perfect venue.
Festivities began with a lively Mehndi, where guests enjoyed a vibrant Garba led by Sarika’s best friend. Sarika wore a playful Papa Don’t Preach lehenga, while Neeta Desai Sharma adorned her hands with intricate henna designs. The Sangeet was a high-energy night featuring Bollywoodinspired dances by Zach and his groomsmen, with Sarika dazzling in a modern Gaurav Gupta ensemble. Amber India catered the event, serving a delicious spread of Indian delicacies.
The Tamil wedding ceremony on the terrace was steeped in tradition, with Sarika radiant in a hot pink Anushree Reddy lehenga and Zach elegant in a Shyamal & Bhumika sherwani. Guests cheered during the playful Malai Maathal ritual, where the couple competed to garland each other first.
The weekend concluded with a Western reception, where Sarika sparkled in a Gaurav Gupta gown. Guests reveled in the chic decor, flavorful cuisine, and a spontaneous flip-cup game organized by Zach’s friends. Thoughtful details, like a jewelry-themed seating chart and personalized photo walls, added unique touches throughout.
