Wall design

city sky line

nepali skyline

During the wall design, mostly the wooden planks are used. This particular design is from the reception area where the customer are welcomed. Since this restaurant is mainly targeted for tourist, in order to not feel the foreign environment for tourist upon arrival and to merge their world with our, the pattern representing the city skyline is drawn by planks surrounded by the bookshelf. Whereas the long wall opposite to the reception is covered with Nepalese temple skyline drawn by the help of wire concealed within the steel frame.

The mass used to draw the city skyline (wooden plank) and Nepali skyline(wire) is too vast, it is made so to balance the presence. They are in our world, so a simple design is made with our skyline without compromising the importance of our culture.

nanglo attachet through thread long battens with cove light represents our traditional dhali system

The design of the ceiling represents our traditional dhali system. The material tused are also plank. Originally false ceiling was proposed but the floor height was too low for that (8'6") so in order to provide the essence of dhali, strip lights were used to show the depth In order to separate the space a semitransparent partition was designed which include naglo "hasa" in Newari as main body. It will be attached to the thread and will be hung upside down. In the middle of the those there will be the picture or portrait of the culture

Third Floor Plan

Like second floor plan the circulation here is made simple with same circulation for both custumer and service flow. For for service in terrace a door near the staircase directly connects interior with outdoor dinning area.

ACHIEVEMENT • Small details work that needs to be paid attention • Ideas about combination of two different material (wood and metal) • Ideas about the material • Discussion with client • Teamwork Other design ideas Since our space was congested, an ides which will take less space and can be placed easily on the corner was designed. It is the flowerpot supporting musical instrument and a wine bottle. It represents a lady holding the yeti (wine bottle in Newari) while dancing during the festival time.
