Nagalakshmi Bommu from team Comrades got married to Srinivas on the 13th of February.

Truffle Hot Chocolate Balls Contributed by Shukla, CoAchieve Yield: Makes about 9-10 hot chocolate balls

INGREDIENTS •

12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips (about 2 cups)

1 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon sugar (optional –for extra sweetness)

1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions 1. In a medium bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Microwave for one minute intervals, stirring often, until the mixture is combined and very smooth and silky. When you first start stirring, after the first minute or so, you’ll wonder if this mixture will ever come together. It will look grainy and messy but after it heats thoroughly and is whisked to combine, it will magically become beautifully smooth. Be careful not to overheat as the chocolate can seize. The trick is to stir often since the mixture will blend together even when it looks like the chocolate chips haven’t melted completely.

K. Raveendra Reddy, Senior Accounts Executive, Finance from Hyderabad married Ammanni on 15th February. Hearty Congratulations. We wish you a blissful marital life!

Magnite Speaks Mangesh Walsangikar, Subject Matter Expert, who worked with Magna from June, 2011 until the Client, Amdocs Development Centre directly hired him on 25th January, 2013 expresses his gratitude to Magna for giving boost to his career.

2. Let the mixture cool for about 10 minutes at room temperature. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator until the ganache mixture is firm and scoopable, about 2-3 hours. Scoop out about 1/4cup spoonfuls of the mixture and place them on a wax paperlined baking sheet. My cookie scoop is about 1 1/2 tablespoons. I mounded two of the heaping cookie scoops full of ganache on top of each other to form one ball. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and let the mounds harden slightly, about 15-20 minutes. Roll the chilled mounds into balls and place on squares of plastic wrap (about 4 inches by 4 inches). Pull the sides of the plastic wrap over to cover the ball and place the balls in the freezer until ready to use. 3. To make the hot chocolate: pour 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups (depending on how rich you like your cocoa) milk into a microwave-safe mug. Carefully drop one truffle hot chocolate ball that has been unwrapped from the plastic in the milk. Microwave for about 2 minutes. Stir well until the chocolate is combined with the milk. Serve warm!

The Ultimate Gift Review by Michelle, source: Beyondsilverandgold.com

Jason is disappointed, angry even, to find out that his great-uncle Red did not leave him with anything. But Ted Hamilton reveals that Red Stevens left Jason with something far more superior than what his family received. For Jason, Red has prepared The Ultimate Gift. Ted Hamilton has no idea what this Ultimate Gift is but he has left a series of video instructions that Jason is to carry out every month for twelve months. Being someone who has not experienced working hard for something in his whole life, this leaves him outraged. But eager to find out what the Ultimate Gift is, Jason agrees to his uncle's instructions. Eager to receive the Ultimate Gift, Jason embarks on a 12-month journey to fulfill his tasks of the 12 gifts his uncle Ted gives him. In the process, Ted Hamilton watches the change happening in the life of Jason. The Ultimate Gift is actually a very small book with a little over 154 pages but in between the covers of this book is a package of wisdom. Truly it is a gift to all who read it, not just to Jason. At first, I wondered why the actual story of Jason was not told. This story is told from the point of view of Ted Hamilton. He shows the video of Red for instructions to Jason, then Jason leaves to fulfill the conditions of the 12 gifts. Every month Jason returns to Ted's office and makes his report. After a few days of thinking how much better this book would have been if Jason's actual story was told, I finally came to realize that it wasn't the focus of the book. You see, this is an inspirational book cleverly packaged as a fiction. I believe the reason Jason's actual experiences was not told was because we, the readers, can also embark on the same journey that Jason took and tell our own life-changing stories.

Human Capital in NEWS

The Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall is an inspirational story of how a selfcentered man, used to being given privileges all his life, changes into a selfless man who knows how to care for others. It begins with the octogenarian lawyer, Ted Hamilton, receiving news that his long-time friend and client Red Stevens, has died. Red Stevens is a self-made multi millionaire who has spent his life giving all he can to his family. In the process, he discovers that giving every material comfort and luxury to his family has destroyed the family, resulting in greed, self-centeredness and materialism. Tete-a-Tete with Mr. Murali Bukkapatnam, President, TiE Hyderabad Chapter

An exclusive Interview with Mr. Murali Bukkapatnam, President, TiE Hyderabad Chapter.

TiE Times:What are the primary objectives of TiE Hyderabad Chapter?

Mr. Murali Bukkapatnam, Masters in Computer Science from Southeastern University, USA, is a serial entrepreneur with over 17 years of global work experience. He plays a significant role in his Start-ups which include, The Capitol Projects Private Limited, BSP Systems and Mandava Spas. Murali is a Founder Trustee of the Capitol Area Telugu Society, an organization that was founded to promote the cultural and social activities of the Indian Diaspora from the state of Andhra Pradesh living in the Greater Washington Metro Area.

Murali:TiE is all about fostering, encouraging and promoting entrepreneurship. Its principle objective is to provide a platform on which people with entrepreneurial spirit and those interested in economic value creation can come together to share ideas. TiE endeavors to cultivate and nurture the ecosystems of entrepreneurship and free-market economics everywhere to create prosperity.

Prior to being the President of TiE Hyderabad Chapter, Murali has been with the Chapter as President Elect since January, 2012. Murali is a philanthropist and extremely active in the social and cultural circle. Besides globe trotting, he loves playing golf, cricket and racquet ball to keep himself fit. This edition of TiE Times features Murali’s association, vision and focus for TiE Hyderabad Chapter. TiE Times: As a President of TiE Hyderabad Chapter, what is your vision for TiE Hyderabad Chapter? Murali: I am inspired by an African poem which says I have only one request. I do not ask for money Although I have need of it, I do not ask for meat . . . I have only one request, And all I ask is That you remove The road block From my path. When I accepted the Presidency of TiE Hyderabad Chapter, I had a vision that this Chapter would spread over wide and diverse industries with their rich productions, advancing rapidly to destinies beyond the reach of my mortal eye. To make this happen, all of us at TiE Hyderabad felt there is a need to create a vibrant eco-system which would primarily encourage development of entrepreneurship across Andhra Pradesh. With the formation of Hyderabad Angels Network and several other efforts that are in pipeline, in a span of 2 - 3 years, we would ensure a strong eco-system in Andhra Pradesh. I fervently believe in ‘Utsaham, Sahasam, Dhairyam, Buddi, Shakti, Parakrama Shadete yatra tistanti tatra devopi tistati.’ Enthusiasm, adventurous spirit, courage, intelligence, energy and boldness wherever these qualities are prevalent, God is sure to be present there. TiE Times: What challenges do you see in promoting entrepreneurship within Andhra Pradesh? Murali: While there are ample opportunities available, the biggest challenge is the need to shift from the ideology of secured job environment to a risk-based arena with uncertainties involved. Corporates and professionals should play an active role in promoting TiE’s mission and objectives. While women play a vital role in business world, I feel the percentage of women entrepreneurs is very negligible and there is a need to encourage women to be entrepreneurs.

TiE Times:What would be your responsibilities as the President of TiE Hyderabad Chapter? Murali: Even as a President Elect, I had a vision for TiE Hyderabad Chapter to be the premier institution for any entrepreneur in couple of years from now. There is a greater need to move from being IT-centric to other industries like, Power, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Hospitality, Green Environment, etc… In order to spread across industries, we are working with TiE members and the greater Hyderabad community to increase our Chapter’s engagement in activities to encourage entrepreneurial development in the region and state through conduct of several events like, SmashUps; Workshops and Programs through TiE-ISB Connect; Global Business Models; creating platforms for budding entrepreneurs and professionals to interact with well-established corporate and industry leaders for networking and one-to-one mentoring; and working towards expanding membership profile of the Chapter. TiE Times:What is the modus operandi of TiE Hyderabad Chapter’s functioning? Murali: I am very fortunate to have a 12-member active Board of Directors comprising professionals who are highly accomplished extending support and guidance in their area of competence. Vol. II No. 3

Monthly e-Newsletter of TiE Hyderabad Chapter 1. Chose a topic to focus on that you are deeply in love with. "Masters and highly successful people are emotionally and personally engaged in their work" on a level beyond intellectual curiosity, Greene says. It's the personal commitment to a topic, problem or skill that is ultimately necessary for motivating and maintaining the long hours and fervent curiosity required to rise to the level of "mastery" in a field. "Otherwise you are never going to have the energy, the patience, the persistence, the ability to put up with the criticism, you will give up too easily, you won't push through all the crap the world is going to throw at you."

2. Skip all the extra school. earn by doing. According to Greene, learning entrepreneurship in school is inane. "Being an entrepreneur is making something, it's like Legos," Greene says and the best way to become an entrepreneur is to try building businesses. Henry Ford's first two automobile companies failed miserably, notes Greene. "You want to actually psychologically desire failure because it is how you are going to learn." If you aren't going to start your own business, at least work in as small a company as possible to learn as many skills as possible. Avoid large corporations and business school, Greene says. As an entrepreneur, "you are going to hire the people that have the MBAs. They are going to bring in that nuts-and-bolts knowledge."

3. Don't focus on making money in your 20s. "Tune out the idea of making your first million. It's about learning. You are there to accumulate as much experience building a business and you want to build several, if possible," says Greene. In the first five to 10 years after college, pursue experience over money. You will learn more than you could earn in those years.

4. When you have some experience, select a mentor. When selecting a mentor, look for somebody who is already doing what you see yourself doing in five to 10 years, says Greene. If you are going to try to approach a master to be your mentor, wait to do so until you have already started amassing a body of work. A healthy mentorship relationship is like that between a parent and a child, says Greene. A good mentor should be older than you and at a point in his or her career that he or she is wants to give back. Personality is important, too. "You want somebody who matches your spirit. If you are a very rebellious type, you don't want a stuffy conservative type mentor," says Greene.

5. Be flexible and creative. For the book, Greene interviewed Paul Graham, the computer programmer entrepreneur who started Viaweb, a company acquired by Yahoo in 1998 to become the Yahoo Store, and a partner of Y Combinator, an accelerator for startup entrepreneurs. In the highly competitive interview process for Y Combinator, Graham "can tell after one minute if he has the next Zuckerberg or this guy is useless, and it is because they are open-minded, they're flexible and they love, they are excited, they have a child like interest," says Greene. Building a company will inevitably confront you with unexpected challenges, and your ability to adjust your path to deal with those surprises is critical.

“MusT REaD” Books for Rising Entrepreneurs 1. Linchpin by Seth Godin. Entrepreneur’s ship. Entrepreneurs are artists. This book is filled with all kinds of motivational thoughts and ideas. 2. The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss. Simply put, the book challenges assumptions. It isn’t about “literally” creating a 4-four workweek, but instead ideas on productivity and limiting meaningless work. 3. Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson. Another book challenging the “old school” misconceptions about what an entrepreneur is or should be (meaning, the goal of every company is just to sell it). A quick read that will make you think. 4. Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh. This memoir is a real treat of essentially Tony Hsieh sharing his story, thoughts, and insights on his journey that eventually led to the building of the Zappos empire. 5. A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink. This is a bible-like guide for creative thinkers. If your work can be outsourced for pennies, you might be in the wrong line of work. 6. Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk. Sort of like having a high-energy, caffeinated conversation with Web TV and brand building mogul Gary Vaynerchuk. Want to use the Internet to cash in on your passion? Read the book. 7. The Art of Non-Conformity by Chris Guillebeau. Chris is the master of weaving personal experiences into bigger lessons. In this quick-moving book, you might just be sparked to make a big change in your business/life. 8. The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann. The book talks about the overall lesson of giving first can’t be repeated enough. In fact, it should be tattooed on every entrepreneur’s arm. 9. The Referral Engine by John Jantsch. Referrals matter. Are you being recommended all the time…and to the right people? John will help you with that challenge. 10. Book Yourself Solid by Michael Port. If you have/need/ want/will ever work with clients, you need this book. Michael’s formula will get you booked solid.
