VVn 1810 “Samuel Morse” invented the “telegraph” which helped human beings to transmit data across distances. In 1901 “Guglielmo Marconi” invented “the radio” which helped human beings to transmit voice across thousands of miles and when “Paul Nipkow” invented “the television” he helped people to transmit images across millions of miles .And as always people still asking “what‘s next?”,, guess what? It’s sensation. Yes believe your eyes, sensation, it’s the future represented in the term “Virtual Reality”, which is without a doubt the upcoming technology generation. Transmitting sensation, but how on earth?! A serious question needs some
imagination. When you do any movement –moving your legs for example- your brain sends electrical impulses to the muscles in your legs, impulses which vary in power and frequencies resulting in different types of movements –walking, jogging, running…according to the kind and the intense of the stimulation. So the principle her, in VR, is to stimulate the same areas of brain, the areas responsible for initiating the previous movement, to produce the same movement in the absence of the external stimulus that naturally provokes it. Simply you›ll find yourself seeing, feeling and reacting with unreal scenes presented to your brain stimulating it, which in return stimulates you to respond.
But how can virtual reality be used in our life? Let›s spot the light on some uses of VR in different fields.. Medicine It can be used for training medicaal students to operate complicated surgeries, overcoming much of the common obstacles usually present in such as types of operations, not only training but also performing surgeries using robotic devices controlled by doctors
which is a real promising field giving doctors a very narrow space/low chances for mistakes. And also in psychological therapy; as people with phobias and other psychological conditions can be treated by being exposed hypothetically to the same conditions that initiate their phobias, except the fact that they›re absolutely safe and secure. it’s awesome, isn’t it ? Military The main purpose is to provide the user with the same simulation of real fights in a safe and controlled environment for example: pilot is put in all elements of danger he will probably face, this will economize the costs paid by the government to do that. Education It had been proved that
virtual reality increases students attention by 100% and tests scored more by 30%, as virtual reality helps learning faster, remembering longer and deciding better It also can help students to build imaginary labs and do dangerous experiments without hazards. Video games This application is already used now, as VR games became more than an entertainment, it’s a real adventure Finally,we all know that we›re living a Technological revolution and technology investments are very profitable. In 2015, Bill Gates “Microsoft founder” became the wealthiest person in the world by 79.2 billion dollar he gains from technology

e all deal with technology nowadays in its different forms such as cell phones,TVs,PCs,laptops,...ect and in order to keep up with this technological revolution, we make some upgrades from older devices to newer ones but many of us should have wondered why there are some devices of certain brands with much higher prices than those of the other brands even if they are almost of the same specs or in some cases, these overpriced brands may be of lower specs! The issue is that we think that specs or hardware equals the eventual retail price of a device and that›s not the whole story because there is something called «margins» which is the difference between what it actually physically costs to make a product and what the company ends up selling it for, so this gap represents the efforts and money spent on researches, tests, advertising made for the product and also some profits for the company itself so any augmentation of one or more of these will increase this gap which in return elevates the final price for the consumers. Our first example here will be «Apple» which is well-known for its high prices, people look to an Apple product owner as he›s got something valuable, something special and different, we have to admit that Apple isn›t like any other company, the people there are concerned about almost everything in their products e.g. they design and develop their own interfaces, their own operating systems, their own hardware and their own services, so these units are integrated together to deliver a super consistent and exclusive user experience, something like a powerful connection with their consumers, so all that requires a lot of efforts which would widen the margins we talked about earlier. For example, the OS X which is the latest operating system of Apple›s laptops and
PCs is exclusive only for those products of Apple. On the other hand, Microsoft Windows can be installed on any Laptop or PC, we know that anybody can build their own PC, install the Windows then they›re good to go! and that›s not possible with the OS X of Apple unless we hack into your PC which is not our subject now, also OS X is believed to be more secure against viruses and malwares. Steve jobs-the former Apple›s chairman- once said:»Apple doesn›t make overpriced products. We simply don›t make cheap ones.», so it›s true that Apple never considered making products that fit all different economical types of consumers like other companies do so, that is to guarantee producing something premium and of its own style. We›ll move on to «Beats by Dre» which is the most famous headphone brand, it›s also known to be overpriced if compared to its competitors so if we›re talking about sound quality and accuracy then yes, there are other manufacturers that make better headphones than Beats for half the price but there are many things to put in mind. Beats spends a lot of money on advertising, we see many musicians wearing Beats headphones all the time, they all show Beats in their music videos and wear them in their live performances, also we see tons of athletes wearing beats and people would love to buy Beats as they see them worn by their idols so Beats pays for all of that and the margins gap won›t be a standstill! Also the design of the Beats is stylish, the packaging and the colors of the box in which the headphones come in are of another level so you will have a great unboxing experience. To summarize up, you need to know that specs are not the only things to rely on to judge whether a brand is overpriced or not and there is no absolute definition of «overpriced».There are two things you›ve gotta think about together when you pick out a new device, the first is your budget and the second is what do you need from it?, some care about the brand image or external design and some care about the hardware inside, so make your choice!
T
he idea of the camera as an invention is a reflection of the human eye, in a result, they both share many mechanisms with some differences, we›ll be discussing one category of those mechanisms which is color detection and representation. We know that there are photosensitive receptors on the outer layer of the retina of the eye called «cones» which are responsible for color vision, they are of three types, each type is specifically sensitive to one of the three primary colors: green, red and blue, so by mixing different degrees of stimulation of these different cones we can get great variety of colors. On the other hand, the pixels placed on the sensor are the photosensitive elements of the camera, each is typically a few microns wide and the number of those pixels determines the resolution of the image produced by this sensor.
This pixel on the sensor is color blind which means that it›s generally sensitive to light photons, therefore it would only produce pure white color with full stimulation or black color with no stimulation or different shades of grey in between e.g. the pixel would only measure the brightness or intensity of the light which is classified into ٢٥٥ levels starting from zero according to the relative quantity of photons that stimulate it, but the pixel is unable to differentiate how many photons they have for each color. So in order to overcome that, every pixel is covered with a filter «clear plastic» colored by one of the three primary colors mentioned before to only allow the photons of one color to pass and stimulate the pixel and block the passage of photons of the other two colors and this is called Color Filter Array (CFA) as shown below.
own value to create a final ratio between the three colors which determines the final color that this pixel produces as various intensities of the three colors are mixed together and every single effective pixel on the sensor works as so. Diagram showing 3x3 grid as the cental pixel collects information from the surrounding pixels
If you were observant you should have noticed that the green squares in the panel above are the most nomerous, actually they›re twice as many as the red or the blue squares, and that is in order to compensate or represent the higher senstivity of the human eye to green than red or blue color. But now comes a question, all that would mean every pixel detects the intensity of only one color of the three primary colors and that›s not the reality of it, because a pixel collects information from up to ٨ other surrounding pixels as shown below. e.g. each pixel around the central green pixel sends its own value of color intensity, then central pixel add these values to its

Android vs
IOS
owadays, no one in the world doesn’t have an ipad, tablet or even a smartphone which differs from each other in the operating system that may be an android belonging to Samsung , HTC ,Huawei ,LG and others or iOS belonging to iPhone It’s an argument that’s been going on for years: IOS or Android? Naturally, getting an accurate answer to that contentious question depends entirely on whom you›re asking and with which operating system they’ve had the most
experience. Devotees have bickered for years, and the worst part of it is that it’s led to the misguided assumption that the difference between owning an Apple handset and a Google handset is like night and day. But in reality it is a huge mistake as there are some similarities and also some differences. Let’s make a discussion for some obvious differences…… First of all {software upgrades} Although Google does update Android frequently, some users may find that they do not receive the updates on their phones, or even purchase phones with out-of-date software. Phone manufacturers decide whether and when to offer software upgrades. They may not offer an upgrade to the latest version of Android for all the phones and tablets in their product line. Even when an upgrade is offered, it is usually several months after the new version of Android has been released. This is one area where iOS users have an advantage. iOS upgrades are generally available to all iOS devices. There could be exceptions for devices older than three years, or for certain features like Siri, which was available for iPhone 4S users but not for older versions of iPhone. Apple cites hardware capability as the reason some older devices may not receive all new features in an upgrade. Second {call feature} Android allows the user to send one of a number of self-composed texts as autoreplies when declining a call. iOS’s phone app has many abilities, including the ability to reply to a phonecall with a canned text message instead of answering, or to set a callback reminder. It also has a Do Not Disturb mode. Third {video chat} Google Hangouts on Android can also be used for video chat, allowing users to chat over either 3G or Wi-Fi. iOS uses Facetime, which can place video calls over both 3G and WiFi. However, it only allows users to communicate with other
Apple devices. Fourth {messaging} Android allows users to log onto GTalk for instant messages. iOS does not offer a native way to chat to non-Apple users. Users can message over Apple users using iMessage or use apps from Google for GTalk and Microsoft for Skype. Fifth { web browsing } Android uses Google Chrome as its webbrowser, while iOS uses Safari. Both Internet browsers are similar in quality and abilities and Google Chrome is also available for iOS. Safari is not available for Android. Sixth { maps} Apps like Google Maps, Waze and Bing are available for both iOS and Android. When Google released its maps app for iOS in December 2012, the iOS version surpassed the version available for Android in terms of features, design and ease of use. The Android version is not expected to stay behind. Apple›s own mapping app, which is bundled with every iOS device, was widely panned when it was launched with iOS 6. Seventh { security} Android’s applications are isolated from the rest of the system’s resources, unless a user specifically grants an application access to other features. This makes the system less vulnerable to bugs, but developer confusion means that many apps ask for unnecessary permissions. The most widespread malware on Android is one where text messages are sent to premium rate numbers without the knowledge of the user, and the sending of personal information to unauthorized third parties. As it is the more popular smartphone operating system, it is more likely to be the focus of attacks. Malware writers are less likely to write apps for iOS, due to Apple›s review of all the apps and verification of the identity of app publishers. However, if an iOS device is jailbroken and apps installed from outside Apple›s store, it can be vulnerable to attacks and malware.

to summarize the advantages of both system For ios : • Massive app ecosystem: distinct advantage for tablet apps while on smartphones popular apps are usually available for both platforms • Deeper integration with Facebook and Twitter: it is easier to post updates and share on social networks using iOS than Android because of how deeply integrated these platforms are with iOS. • iOS-only apps like Passbook, FaceTime, and mobile payments app Square (available on iOS 3GS,4,4S,5 and up, not only for a limited Android phones) • Software upgrades: Apple offers software upgrades to all devices that have the hardware capable of handling the new software. This means devices stay current with software features for at least two to three years. • Better privacy controls: iOS offers better control over the access to apps have the users› private information such as contacts and location. For android • Massive hardware selection: A large number of Android devices are available at various price points, with varying hardware capabilities, screen sizes and features.
•Highly customizable user experience:
The home screen can be customized with not just app icons but widgets that allow the user to stay connected or informed. Other examples include SwiftKey, which modifies your Android smartphone’s keyboard, and apps that emulate older gaming consoles. Google has fewer restrictions than Apple on what kinds of apps it allows in its Play store. Moreover, you can choose to install Android apps from places other than the Google Play store. Several prominent people have shifted from iPhone to Android. Android›s connection to the Google ecosystem of services is strong and arguably more useful compared with Apple›s cloud services suite.

Accidental Inventions and discoveries
There is a common idiom says «Necessity is the mother of invention», but something else provided that it has the power to light the huge tunnel of inventions. It is the accident. All over the years, accidents have helped us to discover new things and create new inventions. Haven›t you ever got benefit of an accident happened to you? Don›t you remember that you accidentally had found an old missing object while you were looking for something else? Maybe the power of accidents is much more than we can imagine. Here are five of discoveries and inventions were accidentally created:

e can›t write about ac cidental inventions and disc overies and forgetting one of the most remarkable med ical discoveries, the penicillin. In ١٩٢٨ Alexander Fleming was experim enting with the influenza virus. He le ft for two weeks and when he came back he found a mold contaminating his culture. The fascinating thing was his observation that the bacteria was unable to grow near the mold becaus e the mold was dissolving it.Then he discovered the penicillin which is a po werful antibiotic found in the mold.
N euroelect ron ic treat m en t for hyp e rt en s ion Hypertension has been fully described through its medical history. Now we know almost everything about it : its causes, types, effects and how can we control it. But a small story will inform us that not all types are well-controlled. Frank was a -٥٥year-old engineer who was trying to control his blood pressure level. His doctor tried to give him one medication then up to three medications, they worked for awhile. After that his blood pressure increased passing ٩٠/١٤٠. His doctor then found that he has «Resistant Hypertension» which means that the disease will resist the drugs. According to Chris Illiades in Everyday Health media, Resistant hypertension may occur in ٢٠ to ٣٠ percent of high blood pressure cases. Resistant hypertension is defined as a blood pressure level above target despite treatment with three optimally dosed, best-tolerated antihypertensive drugs of different classes. Blood pressure controlled with
four or more antihypertensive agents is also considered resistant hypertension. So we can say that resistant hypertension is out of control unless technology can solve this problem. It is well known that our body systems are communicating with each other in a way the keeps our homeostasis. So can we get benefit from the wide network of communication among our body organs in treating hypertension? A question like that must have come in doctor Dennis platcha›s mind and the answer was « Multichannel Cuff Electrode» device. Doctor Dennis led a research team of the University of Freiburg in Germany. They worked on the « Multichannel Cuff Electrode» device which is conducted to lower hypertension. It is based on the fact that the vagus nerve - extends from the brain through the face and thorax to the abdomen- activates and supplies major organs such as the heart and major blood vessels.
They have used wistar rats in their experiment. The polyimide cuff electrode used in the experiments featured ٢٤ electrodes (١٠٠٠ nm sputtered Iridium Oxide) combined with a metallization layer of sputtered Platinum (٣٠٠ nm). The Electrodes were arranged in eight tripoles around the cuff perimeter (°٤٥ spacing). Two large ring electrodes facing inside the cuff adjacent to the recording sites and two electrodes facing outside were used as reference or ground, respectively. The cuff total length was ١٢ mm and the inner diameter was ٠,٨ mm. The distance between cross sectional electrodes was ٢ mm and the total thickness ١١ m. Current controlled stimulation consisted of biphasic rectangular pulses. These
pulses were adjusted to be chargebalanced. The standard proceeding was the following: they first located which tripole showed baroreceptive activity after filtering and coherent averaging. They then selected the center electrode of this recording tripole as a cathode against the two large ring electrodes and conducted each combination of stimulation parameter five times in an arbitrary order. All stimulation con It was shown that the localization of baroreceptive fibers ensures both, a selective stimulation of an almost side effect free baroreflex (for those side
effects, which they were able to monitor) and that electrode dislocation can be easily compensated for. Stimulations across the identified electrodes caused a drop of BP with hardly any bradycardia and no bradypnea. The combination of stimulation frequency, stimulation amplitude and pulse width was sufficient to let the BP drop precisely to the wanted ٦٠ ٪. The function of the BaroLoop interface was demonstrated in the vagal nerve of the rat. Localization of baroreceptive fibers in the vagal nerve using a multichannel cuff electrode and subsequently stimulation across the identified electrode resulted in a side effect free reduction of the BP. With the stimulation parameters amplitude and pulse width it was possible to reproducible lower the BP by a wanted amount. The most fascinating was that when the sites closest to the baroreceptor fibers had been stimulated, no side effects were recorded. Although the device is still under research to test the probability of being applied on humans and avoid any possible defects, it gave us a new lightening blot in the neuroelectronic treatment. Now we are sure that technology can do it. The university of Freiburg has published an article about the device with a title « Implantable cuff with electrodes» saying « The idea for the research project originated in ٢٠٠٤ within the context of the establishment of the Peter Osypka Endowed Chair in Neuroelectronic Systems at the Department of Neurosurgery. Now that the scientists have determined that a cuff with electrodes is feasible in principle, they have begun to develop a completely implantable system.»
