wet rice civilization museum academic final project 2020
Thai Binh is famous for its wet rice cultivation. Under the pressure of industrialization, the area of agricultural land is shrinking. The project “Wet Rice Civilization Museum” aims to store and display artifacts of the wet rice civilization, in addition to propagate and raise people’s awareness of the local profession, preserve and honor ethnic culture beauty.

projects at workshop “Cities of the future& heritage preservation” at Italian Design Day teamwork 2019
The project aims to renovate a part of the National Library of Vietnam. Through the project, the student group learned a new approach and solved the problems in a conservation project under the guidance of Italy professors.
The National Library of Vietnam has a history of nearly 100 years. The building is rich in cultural values and greatly significant to the architecture and planning of Hanoi city. Over time, the traditional form of this library no longer meets the needs of the readers. That is the reason why part of the building is not being used regularly, causing wasted space and damaged architecture.

Addition
The proposal includes two categories: functional transformation and architectural renovation. The original building is transformed into a complex building with several new activities to promote reading culture such as book zone combined with entertainment space. That makes an increase in people's interaction with books as well as with the National Library. The architectural renovation part includes embellishing the degraded architectural details of the building, and introducing new architectural elements to match the new function of the building at the same time.

competition “Phù thủy không gian 2019”- Anpro teamwork 2019
The house was built in 1931. This is a French style villa located in No. 08 Chan Cam in the center of Hanoi city. The project aims to preserve the house by recreating the interior architectural space and rearranging the service activities inside the house, thereby bringing new life to it.
Like most other old French houses in Hanoi, the quality of the house is now seriously degraded. After the Revolution, the original house has been divided into apartments and shops and cafes over the years until now. The habitant arbitrarily expanded and changed the space indiscriminately without a sustainable method. That led to the general invisibility that reduced the inherent value of the house and the quality of living space was not guaranteed.

We add in the house new functions such as homestay, exhibition space of the Old Quarter so that more people can come here to learn, enjoy and understand the heritage values. The entire bearing structure along with the original architectural elements with many values are retained. The new structures divide the space with steel frames and wall panels which are made from light and flexible materials, are easy to restructure and do not affect the existing architecture of the house.

Vu Tan Dan (1946-2009) was a pioneer in contemporary and experimental art after the “Đổi Mới” period. With a variety of materials and expressions, his works of art allude to the way in which perspective changes in proportion to the state from inside or outside of a subject, and reveal a reality in Vietnam with rapid transition at the pivotal moment between two centuries. VDT foundation is not only a place to display his art works during his lifetime, but also a place to organize art activities to support young Vietnamese artists, such as his Salon Natasha at Hang Bong Street in the 90s. Instead of imitating an original “Phái street house” of the 20th century, we create a comtemporary art space, minimal but full of Ha Noi breeze in a residential area by the Red river.

The theme was “Pod architecture” Based on site and the culture of the locals, we researched and experimented a medium-sized “pod architecture” project on the beach, thereby assessing people’s interactions with the site through the project. This is one of two mini projects on the site. The project was done by a group of 5 international students in 7 days.
