WET RICE CIVILIZATION MUSEUM Academic final project 2020
Thai Binh province is famous for its wet rice cultivation. Under the pressure of industrialization, the area of agricultural land is shrinking. The project “Wet Rice Civilization Museum” aims to store and display artifacts of the wet rice civilization, in addition to propagate and raise people’s awareness of the local profession, preserve and honor ethnic culture beauty.

THE REVIVAL Workshop Teamwork 2019
The project aims to renovate a part of the National Library of Vietnam. Through the project, the student group learned a new approach and problem-solved a conservation project.
Vietnam National Library is nearly 100 years old, is a work rich in cultural value, and has important implications for architecture and planning of Hanoi city. Over time, the traditional library form no longer meets the demands of the reader, leading to a part of the building not being used regularly, resulting in wasted space and damaged architecture.

The solution includes two categories: Architectural renovation and building function transformation. The work is transformed into a complex building with activities promoting reading culture combined with entertainment to increase the interaction of people with books as well as with the National Library. The architectural renovation section includes an embellishment of the deteriorated architectural details while bringing in new architectural elements to suit the new functions of the building.

03 WAKE UP NO. 08 Competition Teamwork 2019
House No. 08 Chan Cam was built in 1931, is a French-style villa located in the center of Hanoi City. The project aims to preserve the house through the reconstruction of interior architectural space and rearrangement of service activities inside the house, thereby bringing new life to 8 Chan Cam.
Like most other old French houses in Hanoi, at present, the quality of the house No. 8 Chan Cam is seriously degraded. Since the Revolution until now, the original house has been divided into apartments and shops and cafes. They enlarge and change indiscriminately space without sustainable methods, leading to the general intangibility that has reduced the inherent value of the house. At the same time, life quality is not guaranteed when the division of functions inappropriately leads to a lack of light, humidity, unhygienic conditions, and many people have to live in the narrow and cramped area.

The site of 08 Chan Cam includes a large house in front, an empty yard in the middle and a small abandoned house behind. We have created new functions such as homestay, old town exhibition space so that more people can come here, learn, enjoy and be aware of these heritage values. We also restructured and rearranged the original living space and commercial spaces. The entire bearing structure along with the original historic architectural elements of the house such as columns, windows, or tiles are also retained. The new
structures divide the space with the steel frame, the wall cladding. New materials contrast to the old, light, flexible, easily reconstructed, and without impacting the inherent architecture.
