Winter Fashion Freeze Frame T he winter season doesn't have to be all about frumpy jerseys and sweat pants. While most of us want to hide from the cold, and snuggle under the blankets, winter time can be an awesome adventure of nights around a bonfire, huddled around a table of friends with a glass of red wine. Winter also offers a perfect opportunity to dress to the nines in jackets and boots, and scarves and hats. This is the season to adorn ourselves in rich and heavy fabrics and textures and enjoy the short few months of cold, before spring rears its head again. Quilte d Velo Backp ur Woolw ack, orths
Velour
Velvet and velour have been with us for a couple of seasons already, and while we’re still seeing soft colours and metallic hues, winter sees the trend moving toward darker richer tomes, and thicker more luxurious fabrics, keeping you stylish and warm throughout the season.

The richness of burgundy and its complimentary greens and blues warms us up from the inside out, and reminds us of the 90’s revival of this colourway. Combined with the plush fabrics and beautiful blooms, and the oh so dreamy dusty rose, this winter’s colour palette is full of femininity and romance.

Floral blooms
This season, we watched flowers bloom in the dark making a bold, powerful statement. For romantic, softer vibes, we’re pairing our favourite print from the runway, with luscious velour, lace and pink. Best of all – we’re seeing these beautiful botanicals on everything from knits and bombers to jeans and boots. No matter your fancy, there’s something for everyone.

A winter well -groomed Its been a couple of years since the first beards started making a come-back, and now that we know they’re here to stay, we think its of utmost importance to make sure you know how best to look after and groom your plume. With the right care and style, a good beard can look really good. However, it's also really easy for your beard to become unkempt and unclean. Even if you're going for that kind of look, nobody wants to look like you don't take care of yourself.
It seems to fly directly in the face of everything we’ve ever been taught about washing our faces and skin… but oil cleansing is a thing, and is gaining traction amongst many in the beauty industry as the latest and best thing in skin care… oil cleansing.
Trim your beard to the length that you desire. It is helpful to trim in multiple different directions to make sure you've gotten all of those stray hairs. Even if you want your beard to be very long it's still a good idea to trim it every few months and get rid of split ends.
Oil cleansing is the process of using oil (instead of soap or a cleanser) to dissolve and remove dirt on the skin.
skin for a few minutes . This is followed by using a warm wet facecloth to steam the skin and wipe off the excess, leaving your skin soft, supple and moisturised. Still not convinced? It is important to understand that some carrier oils such as castor oil have astringent properties, that actually dry the skin while cleansing, while other, e.g. sweet almond or jojoba, act as moisturisers as well.
Sound strange? It does at first, but in fact, oil dissolves oil, and if the right combination of oils Contrary to popular belief, these oils do not clog is used, one can clean your face and body, remove the pores (non- comedogenic), but actually offer a excess oil and dirt, and avoid drying out the skin. deeper clean, and prepare your skin to absorb serums and moisturisers better afterwards. Also, by The current trend includes massaging a combina- using a warm facecloth to remove the oil cleanser, tion of natural oils such as castor oil, sweet almond a light exfoliating quality is added to your daily oil, jojoba oil and various essential oils into your washing regime.
How do I get started? Your local pharmacy such as Clicks and Dischem stock a wide variety of both carrier and essential oils. The Internet is full of recipes for everything from dry to acne prone skin that you can experiment with. However, it is important to mention that people with sensitivities to nuts should probably avoid oils such as macadamia and sweet almond. Similarly, if your skin is hyper-sensitive, it is very important that you test a small patch of skin before trying anything new. Don't have time to make your own face products? Never fear, the beauty industry is also getting on the oil cleansing train and there are a wide variety of product available commercially to satisfy every skin type, and all your needs.
THE BEST ALL-ROUND OIL PRODUCTS
Keep it clean. Wash your face thoroughly with regular face wash and water every morning and every night. Make sure you also dry your face thoroughly. Have a clean towel and get as much of the water rung out of that mane as possible. Apply a few drops of beard oil to the skin. Work it slowly into the rest of your beard with your fingers. A good beard oil will keep your whisker ends from becoming tiny razor wires and will condition them to continue growing strong. It will also keep you from getting a blizzard of beard dandruff, while at the same time, keep your beard and face from getting as oily. Use wax to help keep that hair going in the right direction and add shape to longer, wilder beards. If your looking for a product from a brand you can trust, Sorbet Man has just launched it's new beard care range, now available at all Sorbet MAN grooming bars, as well as Clicks stores, countrywide.

EAT OUT TONIGHT & GET IT RIGHT Are you planning a night out with a first date, anniversary dinner, or merely a night out with the family (kids and grandparents included)? Did you know that where you choose to dine, depending on the occasion can have a big impact on the success or failure of the excursion. Never fear, we're hear to help you decide.
First date dining
There are many things to consider when planning a first date… what to wear, where to go, and what your date will be like. Wouldn’t it be nice not to worry about how much it’s going to cost, if the food will be good, and whether you’re going to spend half the night with red spaghetti sauce dripping from your chin, or if you’ll need to turn your napkin into a bib to prevent the rib sauce from going everywhere? What to avoid Italian – while Italian is almost everyone’s favourite kind of restaurant, it can get kind of messy. Its best to keep this kind of cozy and sometimes intimate setting for later on in the relationship (see Anniversaries later on).
What to go for A seafood restaurant or traditional steak house is always a winner. These type of restaurant tend to have a wide variety of offerings from trendy sushi and ultra-classy crayfish, to a refined steak or even a variety of vegetarian options if your date doesn’t eat meat (remember to find out about food allergies or preferences when planning). Great ideas include CTFM (shop 213), which is both cool and casual, and has an enormous variety on offer. The Steakout Grill (shop 73) is also a winner, with a vast menu featuring all that you’d expect from a local steakhouse, without breaking the budget.
Family dinners and a fun night out
Its when you get to this type of dinner out that you can really let your hair down… you want to go somewhere that everyone gets to eat what they want, and more importantly, you can leave the kids to wander around together and switch seats without disturbing other patrons. What to avoid While a trip to a fancy restaurant every once in a while isn’t a bad idea, if you are wanting to relax and enjoy the company of close friends and family, while the kids are otherwise entertained… this is not the ideal venue for you.
Anniversaries and special occasions
Whether you’re celebration your 1st or 50th anniversary, a new job or a promotion, you want to feel special. Intimate, cozy candle lit dinners spring to mind, and comfort food would be the order of the day. What to avoid Perhaps its best to avoid the family friendly restaurants with playgrounds and high noise levels. Nothing ruins the romance like a child crying for her mother while you’re staring into your significant other’s eyes What to go for We promised we’d get back to Italian restaurants, because nothing spells romance more than a comfortable, yet elegant Italian meal. The added benefit is that you’ve known this person for a while already and that sauce on your chin is endearing and not awkward, and no one minds if you overindulge just a little bit. The best choice for this type of dinner date is Milaneza (shop 77), with a fantastic spread of pizzas, pastas, grills and desserts, it’ll become a firm family favourite for years to come.
What to go for This is also a good time to venture to the more general restaurants, as the menu is diverse, the prices reasonable, and the loud setting perfect for you to drown out the family. Restaurants like the Sonora Spur (shop 76) and Panarottis (shop 72), with family favourite foods and ample play areas for the kids are always a winner in this area.
Keeping it casual
No matter your age or the occasion, almost everyone loves milkshakes and hot chocolate. Whether you're on a first date, celebrating an anniversary or a fun family outing, you cannot go wrong with a visit to Milky Lane (shop 32) for your ultimate in sweet indulgences. Want to try something a little different? Try an early morning breakfast date at Mugg & Bean (shop 221) or Wimpy (shop 70). What about staying in, and avoiding the cold? Why not order in from Debonairs (shop 219) or Steers (shop 74), stay at home and watch movies under the covers.

HOORAH FOR HYGGE For decades Scandinavian design has been considered By Gwynedd Peters the height of modern and simplistic design, and while mid-century modern interiors have become a mainstay again, hygge is less of a trend and more of a feeling. At no time more so than in winter, are we all about texture and the “feel”. According to interior design trend spotters, this winter's trends play beautifully into the hands of optimising your home for hygge. Greens and tropical prints: This trend started showing up at the end of 2016, and shows no signs of slowing any time soon. Whether in solids, patterns, or living greenery, the Green was chosen as colour of the year for a reason.
Hygge (pronounced hue-gah) is the hottest word in home-ware this year. It’s Danish, and although there’s no direct English translation, it refers to cosiness, comfort, indulgence, relaxation and a specific mood, as opposed to something tangible.

COMING TO THE BIG SCREEN CARS: 3
Cut and paste
After losing his racing title to Jackson Storm, along with a new generation of high tech racers, many begin questioning if the famous Lightning McQueen will retire after he endures a terrible crash. McQueen's sponsor, Rust-eze, is bought by Sterling, who wants to turn him into a racing brand. Lightning asks for a chance to race in the Florida 500 and begins to train with race technician Cruz Ramirez, who's always had her own racing dreams.
DESPICABLE ME 3 In the third installment is this popular animated series, Gru faces off against Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who has grown up to become obsessed with the character that he played in the '80s.
