C’est en 2007 que tout a commencé…

2007 - The beginning of an adventure After racing triathlons for 10 years and having tried and tested innumerable wetsuits from all the major brands, Jérémie Chapon, the founder of Mako, d e c i d e d that the only way to find a product that would completely satisfy would to be to create it himself.

The objective was to create something completely new. To do that it was necessary to go o f f the beaten track and try not to be influenced by the products that were already available. That’s why he didn’t use any existing patterns, the idea being to create a new wetsuit from A to Z .

L’objectif était de créer quelque chose de nouveau. Pour cela, il fallait sortir des sentiers battus et essayer de ne pas s’influencer de ce qui était déjà sur le marché. C’est pourquoi il n’est pas parti d’un patron existant. L’idée était de repenser la combinaison de A à Z. En 2013 Mako était présent chez une soixantaine de revendeurs en France et distribué dans 10 pays Européens. 14 athlètes portaient nos produits aux derniers jeux Olympiques dont la championneOlympique Nicola Spirig et le meilleur représentant Français David Hauss. Notre but est de continuer à faire évoluer nos produits et à en créer de nouveaux, avec toujours cette démarche de repartir de zéro afin de «repenser» le produit pour obtenir le meilleur résultat possible et satisfaire le maximum de pratiquants, du débutant aux meilleurs mondiaux.

In 2013 Mako was available in more than 60 shops in France and distributed in 10 other European countries. 14 athletes trusted Mako for their Olympic race and used our wetsuits in London, including Olympic champion Nicola Spirig.The Mako brand continues to grow and our goal is to continually evolve our products and create new ones such as swimwear, accessories and trisuits. With always the same will to start from scratch and rethink the product to obtain the best possible result and give complete satifaction to the user, whether they be a beginner or an international athlete.

Ainsi, vous trouverez dans notre gamme des combinaisons position “Natural”, pour ceux qui préfèrent conserver leur position naturelle (souvent lié à un battement important), et “Extra support” pour ceux qui aiment être portés au niveau des jambes (faibles battements et/ou course longue distance). Balanced Buoyancy; the buoyancy has been placed in our wetsuits so as to facilitate your stroke by offering you the body position that is most suited to your swim technique. So in our range you will find wetsuits that have been designed to maintain you in a “Natural” position for those that prefer a neutral body placement (often good for those with a strong leg kick) and others that we have labelled “Extra support” for those that prefer to have a little extra hip and leg buoyancy (good for those with a weak/ lazy kick or for long-distance races.)

Our swimsuits are made using our Endurotek fabric which is a highly chlorine resistant association of PBT and Polyester. The printing has been throughly tested in order to guarantee long lasting colour-fastness. All this gives our suits a remarkable life-span, whether you’re a weekend warrior or elite athlete!

EXTREME technologies

New Graphics for 2014 The wetsuit that was designated “Best on Test” in 220 magazine’s wetsuit group test in 2013. It retains the award-winning cut, features and finish of our B-First model which make them the fastest and most comfortable suits on the market. Pushing the boundaries of performance even further, the Extreme boasts a panel of Yamamoto Aerodome neoprene covering two-thirds of the front of the suit. The placement of this panel has been studied to allow optimum buoyancy and positioning in the water making the Extreme into a pure rocket! The Extreme is worn by David Hauss, 4th at the London Olympics. Available in both men’s and women’s specific cuts. Neck: The neck is cut low from 1.5mm Yamamoto 40 SCS Nano neoprene to avoid skin irritations and uncomfortable compression. Arms and shoulders : cut from the supplest neoprene outer (1.5 mm Yamamoto 40 SCS Nano) and stretchiest jersey inner in the world, the cut allows complete freedom of movement and reduces muscle fatigue to a minimum. It was a 220 magazine Editor’s choice and was awarded the Triathlon Plus Gold Award following their wetsuit group test in 2013. The cut is perfectly adjusted to the body and allows breath-taking liberty of movement and speed. The aim of the B-First is to provide balanced, neutral bouyancy for swimmers who prefer a natural position in the water and is particularly adapted to those who have a strong leg kick. Every modication and element of the suit has been validated by exhaustive testing by triathletes of all levels and in all types of swims. This product is the wetsuit of choice of Nicola Spirig (Olympic Gold Medallst). Available in women’s and men’s specific cuts. Neck : The neck is cut low from 1.5mm Yamamoto 40 SCS Nano néoprène to avoid skin irritations and uncomfortable compression. The N-Joy benefits from several of the technical advantages and improvements validated on the B-First and Extreme models over the last few years. The inside is entirely laminated with lycra for extra comfort and the forearms are equipped with the “Shark Skin Grip”. The suit’s neoprene outer is 100% Yamamoto 39 SCS. The aim of this model is to offer the best value for money possible whilst offering incredible performance. The N-Joy is a Unisex suit and will fit both men and women equally well.

Our entry level suit, the Xperience, is made entirely from Smoothskin neoprene. To increase the hydrodynamics of the suit and reduce drag, the arms, shoulders, torso and thighs all additionally benefit from a SCS surface treatment. This product is ideal for beginners or those on a budget and you will not find a better value-for-money suit packed with this much attention to detail anywhere else. The Xperience won “Best Buy” in the 2014 220 magazine wetsuit group test.

Collar: 1.5mm low cut collar to avoid irritation from rubbing and pressure on the throat. SCS surface treatment. Arms and shoulders: the 1.5mm neoprene and extra supple inner jersey allow for complete liberty of movement. SCS surface treatment. Wrists: The wrist are high cut to allow for slick removal and extra-fast transitions. Torso and Thighs: 4mm neoprene gives added buoyancy and an excellent glide through the water.
