Malden Catholic High School

Where will the future take you? Come see what makes Malden Catholic unique.

Malden Catholic High School began in 1932, when the Xaverian Brothers were

requested to administrate and teach at the Boys’ Catholic High School at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden. In 1968, Cardinal Cushing invited Malden Catholic to serve young men regionally, and the school moved to its present location on Crystal Street. Throughout its history, Malden Catholic has earned a reputation for developing young men of character who act to improve the world. Many alumni hold leadership positions in business, government, law, medicine, religion and science. New horizons are open to Malden Catholic students in order to help them discover their individual gifts and talents, and to share those gifts with the greater community and the world.

Academic Excellence . . . A Focus on the End Result At Malden Catholic, we believe “academic excellence” is a process, and college

placement is the end product. Our students expect to be challenged, and they meet this challenge head-on. Attending Malden Catholic means you will have homework, and you will be better for it. We cultivate a “college mindset” in our students from the time they are freshmen until they graduate. From one-to-one meetings with your assigned counselor, to parentstudent information sessions, to our customized online college research tool, Naviance, we are highly prepared, trained and motivated to help you pursue your college dreams. Our guidance counselors will work closely with you and your parents to help you find the best “fit” college based on your individual interests and abilities. At Malden Catholic, our college placement record rivals that of any school and is especially impressive, given the average size of our graduating class. Nearly 99 percent of our graduates attend college. Most, 96 percent, attend four-year universities or colleges. In recent years, our top students have attended Harvard, Boston College, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Georgetown, MIT, Princeton and other nationally acclaimed schools.

Experienced, Dedicated Faculty . . .

The Right People Make All the Difference Teaching does not end when the bell rings at Malden Catholic. Our faculty is available daily after school, ready to answer questions or lend extra assistance on homework. They are also available during unstructured periods in the school day. Our schedule at Malden Catholic includes an unstructured period, enabling you to visit a teacher for extra help, go to the library or work quietly in one of our Learning Centers. Our teachers are an impressive group, with more than 75 percent holding a Master’s degree or Doctorate. They are experienced educators, with an average of 17 years in the teaching profession. They love what they do, and our students benefit from that.

Today Malden . . .

Tomorrow the World We will stretch you academically, but we will also stretch your worldview. Our school recognizes the increasingly global nature of business and of day-to-day life in America. Widen Your Circle of Concern At Malden Catholic, our Campus Ministry encourages many types of charitable works. We emphasize the value of compassion in reaching out in caring service to others. In addition to monthly drives, our students take the opportunity to do valuable and needed Christian Service in so many ways and with so many people. Some students volunteer to work with young people who have intellectual disabilities; others go faithfully to soup kitchens to feed the hungry. Our young men have travelled to Washington, DC to Defend Life, and many upperclassmen serve their “younger brothers here at MC through after school tutoring. Some of our students have travelled to the Dominican Republic and to inner city neighborhoods in the U.S. to work with those in need.
