EDITOR’SNOTE Welcome to the first edition of Maldives Insider – the official publication of Maldives.net.mv. The Maldives Insider is designed as a coffee table style photographic publication that features a collection of photos showcasing various tourist facilities. All photo listings have captioning in English, German & Chinese, along with a QR code for each listing. The photo listings of tourist facilities are divided into three sections; Resorts & Hotels, Liveaboards and Guesthouses, and the publication begins with a “Local Attractions” section. And towards the end, there are address listing sections provided for travel agents and photographers. In between sections, a limited number of advertisements are featured. This publication is a concept developed and produced, to augment the visualization processes of tourist facilities in Maldives, in a strengthened manner, with limited text. While photography is an important form of art, images can enhance a particular understanding of a certain thing, because a photo can convey many messages. Therefore, Maldives Insider consists of images with captions that can stay in the “theatre of your minds” for a long time. Maldives, with its natural beauty has so much to offer to photographers and more effectively to the tourism industry. Our beaches, greenery, underwater, lagoons and many such appeal our visitors, and while the beauty can be best “described” through imagery, we believe Maldives Insider will do the job. With limited text in the publication, I do not hope to lengthen this note. Therefore let me conclude by saying that Maldives Insider is an extension to a huge online network that reaches millions. This extension will showcase all the members of our “club”, with the best photographs of their facilities that are always welcome to the visitors with an assurance that you are in good hands. The artificial beach which is located at the eastern side of the capital city, is a place which receives many locals and foreigners in the early morning hours and late afternoon.

Hukuru Miskiy when translated means Friday Mosque. This mosque was built in the 1650s and its walls are made of coral stones. The cylindrical minaret of the mosque is another fascinating attraction.

Opened in 2016, “Rasfannu” is the second artificial beach, which is located at the west side of the capital city. With an allocated area for fishing, barbeque areas are there too. Along with traditional “holhuashi”, swings, sun umbrellas and shower facilities are also seen at Rasfannu.
