Queensland Government considering new speeding rules

The state government is exploring the introduction of immediate licence suspensions for drivers caught travelling more than 40km/h over the limit, which is considered high-range.

More than 3600 fines were given to drivers last year who were recklessly speeding more than 40km/h over the limit and this included 18 who were caught by speed checks in school zones. State government figures show that 299 people died on Queensland roads last year – the most number of fatalities since 2009.

According to the data from Transport and Main Roads Department, the most number of times an individual driver was caught speeding in 2021 was 51 times.

Maleny -Witta - Conondale Flexilink Service

Conondale, Maleny and Witta residents are being asked for their thoughts on how Sunshine Coast Council can improve the Conondale to Maleny Flexilink service, that was introduced in 2010.

Flexilink services are prebooked scheduled transport services that operate in areas with limited public transport..

Council is considering one additional Monday to Friday service between Conondale and Maleny and is also seeking feedback on the Saturday timetable. The Flexilink community engagement will provide insight into how Council can improve the current service operation. Ultimately we are trying to ascertain what times residents actually want to arrive in Maleny and leave Maleny. Range Care is a local Community Care Provider operating throughout our area since 1986. Initially it was known as the Montville Care Group. In 1991 the organisation expanded to operate along the whole Blackall Range area and subsequently changed the organisations name to better reflect the expanded service.
