It was on 25 April 1915 that the armies of Australia and New Zealand entered into their premier battle of the First World War, at Gallipoli, Turkey. the Anzacs faced off with one of the fiercest armies history has ever known. The events of 25 April, 1915, and the subsequent campaign have been cemented in the identity of Australia and New Zealand. Each year on April 25th the people of Australia honour and remember the fallen.
In Maleny a parade marched and drove down Maple Street to The Cenotaph at the Maleny RSL Hall where a Remembrance Ceremony was held with hundreds of people remembering the fallen.
Today, the anniversary of the landing is also a chance to commemorate all other Australians who died, not only in that horrible war, but the others that followed.

An Old Codger’s Thoughts & Opinions
Australia is currently debating whether to establish an Indigenous Voice to Parliament, a proposal that has been put forth to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the decision-making processes of the country. Establishing an Indigenous Voice to Parliament in Australia has both its pros and cons. On one hand, establishing an Indigenous Voice to Parliament would bolster the representation of First Peoples in the Australian political system and on the other hand it has the ability to divide the peoples of Australia. All Australians, irrespective of their past or gender should be equally represented by Australia’s Governments and equally treated and be equally recognised by the Constitution of Australia.
Creating an Indigenous Voice to Parliament would also facilitate indigenous-led policymaking and eliminate potential mistrust that may arise as a consequence of ineffective education policies and other initiatives.
The Voice has the potential to simply add another unnecessary layer of bureaucracy and expenses to an already complicated political system. What is the intention in respect to keeping or closing the many other government bodies or semi-government bodies that already exist to speak on behalf of the First Nations People? Why is The Voice needed if the already existing bodies that are financially supported by the various levels of government were doing their jobs efficiently and effectively. Perhaps if the voice goes ahead then the many other bodies allegedly already speaking on behalf of First Nations people. Surely, those bodies already partner with Indigenous communities across the country, to make better policies about those communities and transmit those ideas .
Many people who oppose the proposal worry that indigenous advocacy may clash with the interests of all Australians and undermine national unity.
Everyone should have equal rights and recognition and life expectations.

Truthful
Says
Truthful said that when he lived in Italy before coming to Australia he lived next to an elderly Italian man named Romaro and Romaro told Truthful this story.
One day he went to the local catholic church for confession.
When the priest slid open the panel in the confessional, Romaro said, “Father, during World War! II, a beautiful woman knocked on my door and asked me to hide her from the enemy. So I hid her in my attic.”
The priest replied, “That was a wonderful thing you did, my son! And you have no need to confess that.”
“It’s worse than that, Father. She started to repay me with sexual favours.”
The priest said, “By doing that, you were both in great danger. However, two people under those circumstances can be very tempted to act that way. But if you are truly sorry for your actions, you are indeed forgiven.”
“Thank you, Father. That’s a great load off my mind. But I do have one more question.”
“And what is that?” asked the priest.
“Should I tell her the war is over?”
Morale: It is always important to listen to the whole story before you make up your mind about what you may think the situation really is. It is difficult to make decisions based on only half of the story.
